    These are fantastic videos! So much prescriptive info packed into them. Useable in lots of locations, but DEFINITELY here in the BC interior.

    Until last year I refused fish a Booby Pattern, so I might as well tie up some of these " Blobs" after seeing some decent results with some Straight line Blob fishing. Yeah, "at 1st I was ashamed, but I just dont care anymore" haha Thanks Jordan

    Blob fly works great for ice fishing, caught a 3lber with a hot pink blob fly with a deep red short tail, I couldn’t keep them off of it! Oh and I wasn’t using any bait just the fly itself with 3 1/16oz tungsten gold beads for added on my ice fishing line to add weight to get down quicker to my desired depth

    Thanks for the info. I tried the tequila booby this year. Glad you mention that this fly can be specie specific. I fish a number of private stocked lakes and have had great success in one particular lake that is stocked with Donaldson trout's. I believe it is a cross between a steelhead and a Rainbow. They fight and run like a steely and are a fun fish to catch. I use a sinking line, but have caught a fair number on service before the fly starts to sink.

    I continue to be surprised at how well these good looking match the hatch patterns work. Recently landed a good number of fish when no one was having any luck at all and had guys asking me what pattern? If you've not seen one of these before it's a shock to some fisherman for sure. You're doing a good job Jordan. Thanks

    This last weekend I caught a 17" Brown on a "mop" and an 18" Rainbow on a "blob". I also caught a few swinging a team of three wet flies. Fly fishing has continued to evolve over the decades, and all along the way there have been people claiming sacrilege with the latest innovation, only to see the latest become a staple of the tool box in the years to follow.

    You mentioned different species respond differently to the blob. do Blackwater or Pennask seem to prefer it?

    Just found your videos. Very interesting and enjoy watching. A question, please. My favorite is fly fishing for trout. But, where I live it is a four hour drive to any decent, productive location. We do, however, have several small impoundments with crappie and white bass. Would this "blob fly" be effective for crappie? And could it be fished wet or dry? It looks to be very productive. Thank you and "Tight Lines", always.

    I fish these in the UK and have never found a depth or speed retrieval that they will not be taken. I have even seen fish " standing on their heads " to pick one up static off the bottom.

    how do you make the blob sink under an indicator, all the tying videos iv seen for them dont use lead wire on the tie

    • @centenary88
      @centenary88 3 года назад

      Tie them with beads , especially with contrasting colours. I prefer tungsten beads so the blob drops fast often inducing a take.

    what kind of retrieve on a sinking line for these?

    • @flyfishuniversity111
      @flyfishuniversity111  3 года назад +1

      Hi Simon, thanks for your comment! Typically keep the fly moving at a pretty good clip to avoid deep hooking. Have had great success fishing them with a two-handed "rolley polley" retrieve as well on a full sink.

    Might as well be fishing power bait. A ball of power bait on a weighted hook under an indicator basically looks the same? All about catching fish I guess...

      Hey Brendan, thanks for the comment! Yes, this was a video I recorded in the wintertime due to a viewer's request, in which doing on-the-water demonstration was not a viable option.

      Thanks for your comment! They are definitely not for everyone, but have allowed anglers to find more routine success when fish are keyed into Daphnia/Zooplankton. Happy fishing!
