In case it wasnt commented or realized prior... Mean machine coach is Burt Reynolds... Star of the original 70's movie! Now... I dunno if you've heard of or seen it, but... If not... In it's own right THE most realistic football movie you NEED to react to is ANY GIVEN SUNDAY where the NFL wouldn't sign off on using the official teams because it exposes too much of what goes on behind closed doors and you see the politics of owners vs managers vs coaches vs players! Stars Al Pacino, Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, Cameron Diaz, etc.... You'll never see a pro football game the same afterward!!😮
Its brutal.... But has a Dope soundtrack as well!!

The original is the real thing... just do it man, it's a must. You really don't know Burt Reynolds really... amazing!

It was set off to explode in Adam Sandler's ceĺl and Chris Rock went to his cell to give him the picture and he got exploded instead of Adam Sandler.
Just a note: the actor who plays Knauer in the original Bert Reynolds movie is also in this movie. He's the guy at the golf course who said Crewe slept with his wife.
I love how many pro-wrestlers are in this movie, it's such a fun casting choice
As a kid I had no idea it was Marvin Harrison who played ball 1 on 1 vs Adam Sandler. Stacked cast
It's genius if you ask me. WWE wrestlers are literally actors who are also professional stuntmen. Get two birds stoned at once when you hire a wrestler to act AND have action scenes.

I'm 33 now and first watched this movie when I was 15 and locked up in juvie when it first came out on DVD. It was a pretty interesting movie to watch while being locked up 😂😂 everybody in there loved it!
16:31 he was trying to kill Crewe not Caretaker. Caretaker was in the wrong place wrong time. He was able to do it cause he’s a firebug and can rig anything to blow. I love how they messed with the guards for game day. Also love how at the end the head guard changed the way he felt about Crewe cause if the game happened earlier in the movie he would’ve taken the shot at Crewe. 22:14 I love how when Crewe is under center you can hear him laughing anticipating what’s going to happen. 30:55 I’m surprised you didn’t recognize the con that got the ball. It was the same con that was smoking on the field. He burned the guard with his cigarette. 32:26 Burt Reynolds played Crewe in the original “Longest Yard”. Burt actually took that hit and the scene with them carrying him off the field was real. He was supposed to have a stunt double but he said he had one more run in him. Bosworth said who else can say they got ran over by Burt Reynolds. 35:51 one thing the guards did learn from this game was some legal tricks they could use in their playbook.

This is one of my favourite movies, it’s so fun but it has great moments.
That was Micheal Irvin during the "unquestionable call" and the ref was the dude from Grandmas Boy....

I love this movie an what I love even more is that it’s a remake of the Burt Reynolds longest Yard and now Sandler is playing Crew the same role Burt Reynolds played in the first movie so it was really cool they brought him back! It was about 10 years after the movie came out that I was told by my gram that this was a remake an BR stared in the OG movie … so that just made it hit differently

That guy is a pyromainic, people who love to start fires or blow stuff up...even the one Sargent told him he wanted Crewe finished and to use his pyro imagination and the old guy said that he gave him the inspiration but he ended up taking out Chris Rock.

There’s a UK version called Mean Machine with some big UK actors, but they play UK Football (Soccer)
This movie is actually based of a British movie called Mean Machine its a lil more serious but still a fantastic watch, i highly recommend it.
Actually that British movie was based on the original The Longest Yard (1974).

I got picked last in PE for football. I just started at this school. The PE teacher let us all vote if we would play touch or tackle. Obviously we all picked tackle. It was raining and the field was muddy... I was handed off the ball as a joke "I think". I ran over the the biggest player on the opposing team. I then made the game winning TD catch in the mud and ruined my PE clothes. My mom was very mad, but my respect in The PE locker room was OVER 9000!!!! true story, never amounted to anything, but I still have that moment. My first daughter being born tried to take that, but no... 🤣🤣🤣

BRUH!!! How could you not Recognize Rapper NELLY in this movie??? when this movie came out even I knew he can play Football from his youth in St. Louis. He even got the attention from The Braves and The Pirates, yes they thought he was good enough when they saw him.
A lot of people don't know that this Movie is loosely based on a series of Games known as "The Death Match" Ukrainian Prisoners VS German Soldiers back in WW2... clearly its "Very loosely" and obviously with a happier ending..
The real big dumb guy named Switowski, is played by Bob Sapp. He was a popular MMA fighter. He was probably more famous in Japan than he was in the states.

I can think of two great comedies, one of which I know/ the other...It's been too long but I feel confident Does, depict straight up murder. Both star the same people too, but the eighties were a different time lol. One is 'Beverly Hills Cop' and the other is ' 48 hours'. both absolutely worth a watch too if you haven't seen them.
Now you should watch the real version with Burt Reynolds.

What's sad is that a lot of movies that I love would never be made today. Tropic Thunder, Billy Madison! There's just no real comedy any more people are way too sensitive it's sad. I especially feel bad for all the comedians nowadays! They can't say anything without offending anybody. That's a whole point of a joke. People need to get a sense of humor!

Sometimes they remake a movie and when you see it you wonder why, Why did they do it? And this is one of those times as there is nothing in this remake that is in any way superior to the original and quite a bit that is inferior. The casting in particular is inferior in that there is no way I could ever imagine Adam Sandler as an NFL quarterback. The one exception is Chris Rock. But his performance alone is not enough to justify what they created.
This is a mediocre version of the original.
Worst remake of all time. Unwatchable.
