- Leaf has been on a nice little roll lately with their last few releases being packed with value and quickly selling out and becoming hard to find. That momentum continues onward with 2023 Leaf Pro Set Metal, which features 6 autos and 4 numbered base cards for around $200/box. With a stacked checklist of autos that include CJ Stroud, Drake Maye, Puka Nacua, Barry Sanders and more these boxes almost always feature one or two really great autos. I am really liking the Leaf and Wild Card products! Panini has let the collecting community down with their lack of autographed cards in products promising such. It's like they know that they are on their way out and they don't care! Leaf and Wild Card are giving some quality products with more autos than you can shake a stick at. I don't care that they may be in college uniforms, or that they don't have logos! We need more like these Pro Set boxes! Please keep making content on these products!
The fact that people are still paying for Panini products is crazy.

You have changed my opinion on Leaf over the last year or so. When I originally came back to collecting (2021ish), I thought it was so dumb to not have logos. Now that I have settled into collecting specific PC players, I don't think it matters at all. Having a unique 1/1, or 20 different unique 1/1s of your PC for 1/10th the price of Panini is SO SICK. Their cards are always bright and look amazing in my opinion, and they really pop well in a display. Congrats on the CJ auto, he is a beast.
I remember buying tons of proset back in the early 90's. I actually still have the 1991 proset PGA Tour set that I put together opening packs. Nice old nostalgic rip. I think I even have that exact Thurmon Thomas card in a box of proset football that I have.
I found your page on a whim searching for more info on these Pro Sets since they are still out of budget for me. I never considered buying them. I’ve now subscribed because I enjoyed your video very much. These without a doubt bring back memories of me being a young single mom in the early 90’s picking up the Pro Set cards because that’s all I could afford. I really like these sets. I think it was a wise move putting these out there & for me I think they are 🔥 I’m not one to buy a $1k box of anything so these were definitely more affordable especially for what you get. Wish I would’ve been able to pick 1 up under $200 might’ve been worth it especially as a Niners fan. Thanks for the content & I look forward to more.

Great review RGL. Your opening monolog about growing up gave me nostalgia because I can relate and brought back memories. I love the set and will be getting some.
I thought the same thing. My mom would buy me the value packs at pick and save Kmart and media play. I always hated and still hate score and collectors choice cards haha.
Nice video... so about Leaf... I love their stuff... I have many of their golf releases and am starting to collect more and more of their other sports releases - football, baseball, basketball.... However, I am a bit concerned that since they have so many 1/1's that in the long run they might be devaluing their brand/product and/or the athlete... I really love all of the new stuff they are putting out and the price points as it will certainly and hopefully bring more collectors to the hobby - and allows them to sell more products.... just like the box that you are reviewing in your video, $200 seems like an incredible price and is making me go look for some to see how I can purchase a few boxes and then see how the market pans out with their value over time (and yes I know a lot of it is pretty much based on performance/popularity of the player).... Now, with all of the above said, I'm also against other card manufacturers such as Topps having 20+ different "Rookie" cards... Just like many of us collectors, we have our original cards from the 70's and 80's which basically has 1 Rookie Card - or maybe just 2 or 3 based upon manufacturer (Fleer, Topps, etc)... So in today's market, and it's been like this for a while now, it's all about the "cards" and not the "player"... Let's come out with a different series just so we can put a RC or 1st logo on it...... So I get it.. I do... I own a marketing firm, and you have to have products to sell - or something more for collectors to open and "chase" than just a base/paper rookie but 10+ color variations and 10+ chrome variations with multiple card manufacturers is a bit much... for me anyway ..... But again, I get it..... just my 2cents... Thanks for reading! ---- Joey O'Connor
Leaf doesn't get the credit they deserve at all, I love their ability to deliver on autographs of athletes and their cards always look really clean. I do wish they were LESS 1/1 heavy, but you can't beat the prices in order to get some top names. I also have to say I love watching your videos because you're always completely transparent and don't sugar coat your opinions on what you break. It's nice to be able to check out products and get realistic expectations of what I might get on a rip too.
RGL, loving the Leaf products as always, fun stuff across the board. 1/1's regardless of variations are still awesome. Thanks for the opportunity!

I grew up with pro set too bro!! I loved it too used to have the same exact Thurman thomas card your giving away. Nostalgic, love it!! Mine didn't have the auto but wish I had those old cards lost em along the way. But I love your content rgl you the man!! Liked the video and subscribed to your channel!! I’m with you! I grew up on the leaf, score and Donruss! I’ve been getting more and more into the leaf stuff this year. I don’t really care about the fact it doesn’t have logos because they look so much nicer than flagship stuff! Thanks for sharing RGL and keep pulling fire!

Big Bills fan. Grew up watching them in the 90’s. I love Leaf products. They look cool and have awesome hits. The lack of logos is not enough to keep me away. I love how each hobby box is assembled by hand. Please continue to rip more Leaf. Thank you.

About 10 years old, take my allowance money and go to the local gas stop which had pro set, first ever auto was a Joe Gibbs...I didn't know exactly what to think, my pops however, was pretty excited.
Thanks for sharing, LEAF is what caught my eye to check out your video. When I think of LEAF I go back to 87, 88 when I first started collecting baseball cards and when you got one that was a LEAF, that was a highlight. Cool set definitely going to grab a couple boxes

I couldn't agree with you more Run Good. My 1st 2 hobby boxes since 2005 were 2021 Pro Set and 2021 Pro Set Power. I sent the hits to PSA and gem mint 10ed both the pro set cards I sent...a Waddle to 15 and Javonte Williams to 5. (Before his ACL/MCL injury) Then out of the Power I only got a 9, but it was a CJ Stroud auto. As a collector that started in the 80's, I think this stuff is so nice....and they grade well because Leaf still cares about quality control.
I had so many of these cards when i was young plastic sleeves didn't even exist in my head and the starting lineup sport action figures
I love this set. All leaf metal has been hitting lately! That Roschon Johnson is sweet too
So cool seeing the Pro Set again. Loved the Super Bowl cards from the early 90's set. Brings back great memories from my youth.

I’ve been ripping a lot of Leaf in the last 6 months or so and love it. Got a Bryce Young auto redemption and got it in a month or so. I have panini redemptions almost 2 years old. Have yet to lose money on a box either.
As you say RGL, you cant get too hurt with this product. I too am nostalgic with pro set and looks so good chrome.
That Bart - I am so great, I am so great was hilarious. I opened up some $13 2022 Proset rerail and got a Rashee Rice. I just wish they would put them in penny sleeves before putting them into the hard plastic sleeves. I would have loved to get the Rashee rice graded but the corners are bad.

I typically don't purchase Leaf products but Im liking the throwback to Proset and possibility for on card autos. Id buy this

Leaf does a great job with being non-licensed product in putting up photos that have minimal logos that would be shown, so it should suffice for “logo guy” great product! Thanks for sharing 🤘🤘

Pro set for football was all that was around where i lived in Canada in the 90's. Love the Thurman Thomas. Too bad there wasn't an Andre Reed in there too.
I’d love to get my hands on that Thurman Thomas card. Also that Stroud lol, I’m a huge Buckeye fan from Ohio. This was my intro to Leaf, and needless to say I’m very impressed! Definitely going to buy myself a case of these cards very soon.
Love the reclaimed cards, I used to spend hours organizing my binders and reading stats back then. Not crazy about no logos but can’t argue with the pricing

Do you remember ever pulling a one per box collectors choice gold signature card from baseball ????? It felt like Christmas hell even a silver sig of a star like Ripken Frank Thomas or Griffey was an amazing pull and those cards that came with the dates on them where if they hit a Homerun on that date you won some cards soo cool back then and the topps black gold set redemption cards were insane
And Proset bro I remember in 1991 when I was 10 I would save my lunch money and take my small monthly allowance and over the course of the year get boxes upon boxes of 89 and 90 football they sold full boxes of them for super cheap back then you could get 1990 2 for 5 bucks and a box 1989 was 5 bucks at a card shop in Baltimore… man I wish I could go back to those days lol pulling sanders thurman Thomas prime time e.smith aikman Irvin Derrick Thomas rod woodson all those hof rookies in those sets and so many more im just not naming
1989 and 1990 proset were the first full box rips I ever did and I ripped at least 15 1989 and around 30 1990 boxes in 1991/1992 I would go back and buy them every other week until the card shop eventually ran out lol
I remember the time we went to Target, and I got two $19.99 boxes of 94-95 collectors choice basketball, and I got a god pack that had all silver sigs, you crash the games, and a gold John Stockton sig, and I thought I died and went to hobby heaven. I was 8 years old. I'm 38 now, and that's one of the only packs I vividly remember opening, along with my two 1st edition charizards.
Leaf products are actually really nice. I don’t love the lack of logos but they do a really nice job for the price. Thurman is a great auto. I’d love to have that one!
Man, Thurman is a Big Chase of mine. Bills were my team until I found out "the Saints" existed. But I really felt it when Bills did the 0-4 in 4 straight superbowls. There's always room for a Pro-Set.
I was the same with buying cards in the early/mid nineties. Collector's Choice was cheaper (probably like $.50 cheaper) than Topps and Upper Deck so it was a go-to. Also, the Kmart card section was fire back then. They always had a ton of full boxes. I distinctly remember opening a box of 1992 Pro Set Power as a young kid.
Love’n the Leaf Pro Set.. great nostalgia feel and can’t complain with the price.. sweet rips.. got a CJ! The Dan Marino is hype.. But the Thurman is great as well, love buybacks!
I'm a new subscriber, don't know why I'm just now subbing cause I watch your videos all the time?! My bad but I love the Proset products. And leaf as well. Always have since I was a kid. And the logos being missing doesn't bother me at all. The man is what matters. Not who he played for in my opinion!! Great job keep it coming 👏

Pro Set is very nostalgic for me it was the first sets that I received as a akid and what got me into he hobby. Thurman, Kelly, Bruce, and Andre Reed were my favorite players growing up as a akid as well. Receiveing the Thurman would be a 2 for 1 in nostalgia for me.

Do love the look of leaf and the integration of Pro Set - don’t mind the crazy one of ones, better version of the 60 panini parallels - it is the world we collect in.
Love the hand collating but they do need a pack they are sealed on or some sort cover/protection.

Man I really like the look of these cards and the auto checklist is nice too. Maybe higher print runs and less subsets so that low number hits actually mean more. Hitting the CJ was obviously" in the cards" with your last pack last card magic!

Die hard Bills Fan so that Thurman is NICE! As for the product I think for 200 it’s an absolute win. Nice mix of players, cards look great, excellent amount of hits, and tons of great names you could pull.

Seems an interesting set. Just getting into card collecting with my son and will probably pick up something like this.
I ended up with a short box of leaf pro set and was able to email them about it. Their customer service got right back in touch and had me mail the bar code and promised to make it right. Fingers crossed.
