I’ve been listening to this beauty for 12 years now. I still remember the very first time I stumbled across this. Life is just way too complicated to not just stay in disassociated state.
I love Trent Reznor, every song he have ever release have been music at a it's highest planar, filled surreal and depth. All of songs, one has to stop and ponder to really understand. All of them have it's own level of depth while some like this song doesn't have too much lyrics but each line spoken is deeper than you think that most couldn't even grasp it's fathom of meaning that lays inside. And the closer you get to understanding each line, sentence, song, the more you realize how wise he is
I keep coming back, it may be 10 years or more, who cares. I found that deep sadness and that feeling of being alone, in a sense that no one can possibly understand what is going on inside you, is what in the end defines you as human. Coming here, to experience this, and realize that there are few, but at least some people out there who can relate is in a very strange way something that gives you hope, and makes you carry on, continue the journey. If you can survive this sadness, what can possibly stop you
Sadness as a disease that some of us cannot help. Thank you. I do feel less lonely that a stranger put that down and that I saw it. I do hope that you can find happiness, or peace at the very least. Never give up.
This version of this song is simply amazing, much like Trent's other work. The introversion, isolation and fading out of the Slip and With Teeth, all in one song that ends with that distant wind blowing away, off into something else. Gorgeous.
Its makes you feel less lonely if you know this, were all going though the same but completely different things, sadness is a sick addiction. didn't mean that im happy that others are going though loneliness, but im glad im not the only one and maybe one day ill make someone's life no longer lonely and and brighten their life and and they will do the same for me, two negatives make a positive.

I agree, but regardless not every happy-go-lucky musician can write sad music so beautifully. To channel deep and dark thoughts and emotions for a song and perform it so truthfully and convincingly takes a lot more then just clever song writing. Few musicians nowadays can pull it off.
