I love Trent Reznor, every song he have ever release have been music at a it's highest planar, filled surreal and depth. All of songs, one has to stop and ponder to really understand. All of them have it's own level of depth while some like this song doesn't have too much lyrics but each line spoken is deeper than you think that most couldn't even grasp it's fathom of meaning that lays inside. And the closer you get to understanding each line, sentence, song, the more you realize how wise he is

I keep coming back, it may be 10 years or more, who cares. I found that deep sadness and that feeling of being alone, in a sense that no one can possibly understand what is going on inside you, is what in the end defines you as human. Coming here, to experience this, and realize that there are few, but at least some people out there who can relate is in a very strange way something that gives you hope, and makes you carry on, continue the journey. If you can survive this sadness, what can possibly stop you
Such a beautiful mix of two very different songs. one of my favorites for sure.
This version of this song is simply amazing, much like Trent's other work. The introversion, isolation and fading out of the Slip and With Teeth, all in one song that ends with that distant wind blowing away, off into something else. Gorgeous.

How did this gem slip though my fingers? Every NIN track I listen to for 30 years now I listen to for days while reflecting o my life. The lyric “there is nothing here I recognize” and “used up halfway through” touches my core in ways NOTHING else does. What type of magician is Trent? The consistent kind. I always thought he was out after his marriage to that Mandig model. I half thought Trent ordered a wife

Just to clarify with the recent posts (because I just discovered this song and have listened to it 300 times this week) - this answer seems to be correct. It sounds so good because it IS a professional remix; a 5 second web search shows this is off the Quiet album from 2009. Sad part is, only place I could find to dl it were torrents. May hit up Amazon later or something.
