Idk how to explain it but, I feel like Ateez majorly take into account how songs will feel at concerts. Like, every song might not be something you would put on repeat when you are sitting around your house, but like, seeing videos people take at their concerts, its just so utterly amazing. They are true performers. Not just musicians. Idk if that makes sense. Their songs are a full experience.

Yeah I listen to Ateez all the time. I do think they create their choreography for the stage. Like I am rarely happy with standard music show camerawork with all the zooms and close ups but give me a fixed camera and I feel like I’m watching a 3 minute musical.

Ateez concerts are designed to take into account their lore which eventually leads to a story being told by how the show progresses so they literally are doing a kpop meets Broadway show. They include Easter eggs about their comebacks into their concerts as well. Just look at their kingdom sets and they literally incorporated their lore into ikon's rhythm ta.
As far as not putting their songs on repeat its unfortunate that people don't discover their discography and just form a idea of their music based on their stages only. If you were go down their discography you will finds songs which are ones you can have on repeat at home e.g Treasure series includes gems like sunrise, WITH U, Thank U ,IF WITHOUT YOU, Mist, Precious. their Fever series has songs like turbulence , be with you , the letter , wave etc.

Unlike groups who assign lines based on position, ATEEZ members generally do all the parts, and then the producers select who gets which part based on how well they did the part and how the voices for each part fit together. You can see this in Man of ATEEZ when the members recorded their collab with Kim Jungkook. The members all recorded the rap, and then Eden selected who fit the part the best. I've always admired that they don't pigeon hole the members, and I think it's why we've seen more of Wooyoung and Yeosang lately--as they've improved, they are better able to compete. Wooyoung had a large chorus part in Poppia and Yeosang's parts have been considerably longer in their recent comebacks.
This synchronization in this dance practice is so satisfying. I've probably watched it as much as I've watched the video.

I don’t see anyone putting down their hard work and if they are it’s probably because they don’t know how the parts get distributed. Also giving parts is not very “hard” to do and I hope you do know that ateez aren’t the main producers and part pickers of their songs so if anyone is putting anyone down, it’s Edenary and not ateez themselves.

I feel that kpop has evolved into this sort of hierarchy where the only valid male singing is how high you can go and now every producer is super determined to exploit their band's high notes as much as possible. Personally I had never listened to an ATEEZ song until Halazia and the reason I listened was Yeosang's voice. He has a beautiful voice, with an incredibly warm and pleasant timbre, and it's crazy to me that they don't use him to balance out their songs more. From recordings without the backtrack that fans have posted online it also seems that he sings all his (very few) lines live perfectly in concerts, so I feel he's more than capable of singing more.
Also, they've posted another dance practice video and you can hear the extremely satisfying sound of their synchronised footsteps in the song outro lol I love it so much.

@@CorvusLyra You can be incredibly shy or self conscious of your voice and still record more than 1 line per song. Worth noting that in every single recording from ATEEZ live performances that I could find, when you remove the backtrack and instrumentals, Yeosang sings all his lines perfectly. He didn't have to. If he was so shy he can't have people hearing his voice, he always had the option of just lip-syncing, as many of the other group members regularly do, for various valid reasons. The other person who replied also pointed out when she saw Yeosang live she heard him singing - again, clearly he does use his voice in public performances and doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

A song being predictable means you knew exactly what genre it was gonna be and how it was gonna sound. Ateez is one of the few groups where no title track sounds the same as the last one and they dabble in many different genres. If you’re talking about the song structure, as in who sings what part, then I agree, they have a structure that they’ve rarely deviated from and I’d love them to try new things like giving high notes to san who is the lead vocalist or more parts where he makes use of his lower register, giving Jongho more dance center parts or less vocal heavy parts, giving Hwa rap parts, letting yeosang and Wooyoung sing more which they’ve done this time and I hope it continues and i want them to really consider letting them release their own music, something like what nct does with nct lab because honestly it’s really hard to give fair line distribution all the time to 8 people in a song where some people are more technically proficient than others especially since they say they audition for parts. Having members release their own stuff will make everyone feel like they’re not being creatively stunted.

idk, I actually felt like they strayed A LOT from their usual style, like there is no proper drop, Jongho singing not just one note but the whole sentence, Yeosang and Wooyoung getting much more lines than usual and in Yeosang's case it's one of the central parts of the whole song. Even Hongjoong and Mingi forgoing their rapper tags is new. The only thing that is very on brand is last 30 seconds going extra hard but idk if that id enough to call it formulaic.

While Halazia is one of my favourite Ateez songs, I definitely agree that they could use a switch up, especially with Jongho. While I understand the need to use his skill for the absolutely insane high notes, and his voice has become SUCH a stable of Ateez's songs, the boy honestly needs a rest, I highly doubt it's healthy for his vocal cords. And not like the other members are not amazing singers, like San and Seonghwa and Yunho, and Wooyoung and Yeosang too. I think they're starting to move in the right direction bit by bit, with giving Yeosang and Wooyoung more lines, their Movement bsides being SO different for them and experimental, also their Japanese release Paradigm was very different for them, they could definitely use something fresh and new. Though with both Guerrilla and Halazia being VERY hard hitting anthemic songs that REALLY pushed Jongho, and how popular both these songs are, they may do something similar again for the next comeback, at least for the title track. But I'm hopeful for the bsides, they often do something different for at least one of them, like Utopia that really let Seonghwa (and San) shine, Mist that let Wooyoung shine, Light that let Yunho shine, Horizon and Sector 1 that let Yeosang shine, The Leaders - one of the most unique songs I've heard in kpop. Also I think that especially with title tracks, they think about the performance aspect most of all, since Ateez's main strength is their performance skills and that's what they're so known for.

I always love your reactions because you give honest criticism rather than blind praise. I completely agree with you! I enjoyed halazia and I love that Ateez have found their signature sound but I’ve definitely started to notice a pattern. They always come up with creative beats but the song structure is starting to become formulaic. It’s the same with blackpink. I love them too but you can almost predict exactly how their songs are going to sound - rap line verse, vocal line pre chorus, chanty chorus and then double time outro. I hope Edenary and the other kq producers don’t fall into the same habit. I don’t know if you’ve already heard their Japanese release Paradigm but I wish they experimented more in that direction - actually utilizing rap seonghwa, low register jongho, vocal line heavy on the harmonies. Ateez is a group known for their performance skills and theatrics (they became one of my ults after seeing them live) but now they’re starting to create songs made for live performance rather than songs for listening if that makes sense. They always deliver on b-sides but looking back on their fever era and treasure era there’s so many title tracks that I have on my playlist but Guerilla and Halazia are songs that I only really listen to while watching the performance or at the gym. That’s just my opinion on the World series so far but then again it’s just started, who knows what they’ll give us in 2023! Side note you should also check out their cyberpunk stage on music bank :)

what you mentioned about San blending in this dance, i totally agree and i love it. my issue with San has always been that he pulls focus and distracts from the other members by doing the moves bigger, wider, or with extra extra energy or flair that goes above and beyond the choreography. to most fans/reactors, this is why they love him. and yes, his energy and moves are really nice for when he is in the center of the routine, but when you are part of a group, i feel like it is your job to try to blend and make a seamless group choreo until it is your turn to shine. otherwise you are doing a disservice to your group mates. it reminds me of Lee Know of Stray Kids. he mentioned that he tones down his dancing to blend in with the group so he doesn't stand out too much. i appreciate that because it shows a maturity of knowing when the time and place is to show off your skills. i understand wanting to show your fans all that you are capable of and give them 110% every time. i really do understand. but i appreciated this choreography because i finally saw people complimenting other dancers like Yeosang who a lot of times can unfortunately get outshined by the more extravagant dancers in the group. and Yeosang held his own and did amazing in this! i know in the past ATEEZ was always about performance and not needing their moves to be perfectly in sync. but this dance was really impressive because it was big and powerful and full of performance but also super in sync. i hope this will continue for them in the future! :)

Honestly I missed San in this performance, its the one thing I don't like about halazia. Almost the entire performance he was either hidden in the back or his back was turned to us, I love San's facial expressions and watching his fancams, and in halazia you can't even see him the majority of the time in his own fancam. Even his duo choreo he is facing the back, or the one the few times they let him come to the front he was again facing backwards. Blending? He was hidden. I also kind of find it funny that ppl get on San's case all the time for being 'extra' but not Hongjoong or Seonghwa... Parts of this choreo Joong didnt 'blend' at all, but he gets complimented for it, if it was San doing the same thing, it would have been too much.
