  • I had the rare pleasure of buying a Powermac G4 Quicksilver case that had already been cut, leaving the door open for me to correct some of the metalwork and build my own machine inside it!
Join me for a fun build after a long period of sore back, illness, and a construction company erecting a building across the street quite loudly.

Be careful when tightening the screws on the handles. If you make it too tight they will crack. Even if it doesnt crack when you screw them it may when you lift it from the handke.

I'm doing a G4 and a G5 right now. Their power switches use the 27v rail that supports ADC power passthrough, if you want to keep its pulsing, glowing functionality you need to bring a 27v line in.

It came out great! I think the feet actually compliment it pretty well, sort of a frosted effect, like ICED 😎
I've washed lots of logic boards in the sink in hot soapy water, with a ton of rinsing, usually also a dunk/rinse in distilled water, and always blower the heck outta it with my air compressor, to get all the water outta the nooks and crannies. Then I put it out into the hot California sun to dry. Now I have a ultrasonic cleaner, I'm usually using it as it's much less labour intensive.

Did u partition and format SSD during XP installation? Or u did that externally beforehand. I learn from a PhilsComputerLab video "How to avoid short lifespan when using SSD in Retro PC", that it is better to partition and format ssd beforehand/externally using newer OSes before installing XP on it, for SSD longevity sake

Nice PC hack-a-Mac conversion! The top left spot where the optical drive is normally located, actually requires a bracket and a couple of screws. So if you want the bracket and a couple of screws to mount an actual optical drive, let me know as I believe I would have a set for you.
Also, your large plastic bracket that hinges your open/close mechanism, actually has one of the clips broken ie: the front one is intact and the rear one is broken/missing.

IDK why you wouldn't just put the board in the fan forced oven at literally any temp over water boiling temp like 180c as it will all the water in there turn to steam, it will more reliably remove ANY water from the board better than you could ever blow dry it.
