One of the most physically dominating horses ever woulda won the Belmont if he didn’t get hurt I was at the derby that year snd saw this horse was 15 pounds bigger then the others threre
Eight Belles was stellar. I just got back from a trip to visit her gravesite at Churchill Downs. Big Brown was so elite and should have won the triple crown.
This horse was as juiced as juiced can be people don't understand thats why none of these horse win in the Belmont because the rule and restrictions are too tough they check and double check everything RD was a crook.
Big Brown was a very good horse but easily could be called King of the Dipsticks. Pretty bad 3 year old crop that year. His real "pure racing" moment came on the grass beating older horses, IMO. I'd rate quite a few other 3 year olds ahead of him. Shame he had such a short career though.
I have had to watch this and restart it multiple times, and focus on Big Brown's colors, and when Tom says there goes Big Brown, that horse took 2 or 3 strides and made up 1 horse length. It is nuts how quick he was but over all not even the fastest track times. Just insane ability to switch into gear
@@yukilover91 I agree but it appeared that Eight Belles got rank with the rider at the top of the stretch signaling that something was wrong. But what heart to still finish second. RIP Eight Belles.
Impressive acceleration at the top of the stretch. This race went from contested to over in 2 seconds. His win at the Preakness was even more impressive.
That was the fastest Derbies ever with ground covered factored in from the 20 post per the Sheets guys. And ,most forget how good Eight Belles ran in this race, she beat the rest of the boys convincingly....RIP.
Almost every single racehorse is on steroids. They are anti-inflammatory steroids, not performance boosting ones. Obviously, you don't know anything about medicine used on the horses, or horse racing in general.
Obviously you do not know what you are babbling about. Big Brown was as doped a horse as you’d ever want to see. He was most certainly on performance boosting steroids and respiratory performance enhancers as well. His trainer Dutrow was easily one of the 5 biggest doping trainer cheats in modern history. NONE of his horses were clean. NONE! And it’s interesting that as soon as the TC moved to NY were anabolic steroids were tested for and banned suddenly Big Brown laid a big dud in the Belmont.
With the exception of Big Brown, this was easily one of the crappiest 3 year old crops in my 45 year history of following racing. Further tells you how difficult it is to win a Triple Crown despite that.
Eight Belles was a fantastic filly RIP. She beat every other horse in that field not named Big Brown and had she lived she would have been AT LEAST as dominant as any other filly except maybe Zenyatta.
there you go baby alan, and he won from last to the front, ok now do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh big brown and thats stardom bound to, and there baby, was april 18, ok
Those whom said they shouldnt have raced her against the boys must not have seen the race and I remember betting her and people laughed I know the women were betting her obv being the girl in the race but if not for Big Brown She laid waste to the other boys in that field and the freakish injury had zilch to do with being a female it happens and its sad but there are fillys who can beat the boys. Only seen 1 writer make it known that she kicked all but Big Browns ass as most just wanted to pile on ownership and her trainer.
Big Brown never lost a race. He DNF in the Belmont due to a hoof injury, and was pulled up by KD. Every race he finished, he won. So what is your point @brianroberts997br
I got nothing against the horse. Now his management is different story. Without the drugs. Where would he have placed? The real champion died chasing a complete fraud. Remember Eight Bells, she was the champion in this one.
there's no way iha was juicing. I've seen all his races and he came into himself as he grew. bodemeister was a much bigger horse and didn't have the stamina at the end of both races. iha was just able to wait to make his run and got him.
its a shame she was hurt trying to beat a steroid using fraud. i was never a big brown fan. the belmont was the happiest day of horse racing that year.
This was my favorite racehorse back in the day. Big Brown was an amazing horse!
Mine too.

2022 and only horse 🐎I I think of Big Brown
Wow 2008??
Eight Belles was stellar. I just got back from a trip to visit her gravesite at Churchill Downs. Big Brown was so elite and should have won the triple crown.
Looking back to Big Brown's big win - So dominant!!!
And there goes big brown!!!!
One of the very best if not the best 3yo in the past 15 years.

@@danb1168 no the drugs in NY are bad they use stuff thats not testable. ie Jason servis and all those other high profile trainers

Tom Durkin is the Michael Buffer of horse racing!
eight belles was a champion filly RIP :-(
She was and she ran her heart out that day. She would always be remembered
Like zenyatta

Easy TC Winner if Not Injured
@@jackwoods9604 Considering another speed horse, Datara, won it. A horse Big Brown beat by 21 lengths in the FL Derby.

it's a shame such a great event had to end like this :(
Greatest horse to have raced since the 70's
Big Brown made a big boy move down the stretch. Not a bad ride by Desormeaux
Race Call: Tom Durkin
rest in peace! eight belles was an undertaker victim
Eight Belles did not embarrass herself in finishing second. Big Brown was NOT going to be beaten this time around.
I remember watching Big Brown at the Belmont.

I love this horse! hello!
Big brown was a badass pony, still not sure how he lost the belmont
Tale of ekati did very well i think when he saw BB starting to roll he got on the move. 4th was good, 4th best 3 year old in the field. Canadian to!
What a shame. Big Brown was close
who likes tom
Something bad happened because this horse was supposed to win the triple crown
he won the race in the home turn!
Though I did not like Rick Dutrow very much with his boasting, Big Brown was a great horse. Its a shame that he was not able to win the Belmont.
Why did thay took that long to open a gate
"47 seconds for the opening half mile with a half mile to go" … hysterical.
