Majority of mixed (half black, half white) people I know didn't grow up with both parents in the same household. there is a clear confusion between looking after those deemed to be most vulnerable (single women with young children) and access to social housing. if you are in a 2 parent household with dual incomes then obviously you are in a better position to sort out your own living arrangements, even then you are not *excluded* from a waiting list for accomodation, just futher down in the pecking order and rightfully so. lets not pretend nuclear families who are in a "better" position are being discriminated against when that is absolutely not the case. you even have a whole extra salary to play with vs. someone doing it on their own. anyways, great discussion as always.
having 2 incomes due to 2 parents doesn't necessarily mean the household income is greater than a household with one parent. A single mother who's a data analyst and earns 50k is in a better financial position than a 2 parent household where one's a social worker on 23k and the mother is a dinner lady on 20k I wasn't gonna knitpick, but it has to be said because you saying "you even have a whole extra salary to play with" is a massive assumption. Not sure where you're from, but here in London, the VAST majority of people live check to check. Including 2 parent households
