Shellie I wanted to thank you for teaching me how to make this baby book. I bought the same paper pack you had but mind didn't have the die cuts in it three pages of tags and one sticker so my book is a little different. I made my Granddaughter a bridal book and used the hinded hinge and it was so hard to put my pages on because I embellished a lot. The way you did it in this book was so much easier. Not too many people do this free they want you to buy there patterns. I have to decorate my cover yet waiting for two of your frames to come. Thank you again for sharing and showing us how to do these things.

I love the way you started out with the three separate pieces! kathy orta king of paper phenomenon does not do it that way and I tried her way and the paper tore and was a hot mess! Making the three separate pieces makes so much more sense to me. I just ordered from you so I will have to rewatch so that I get it correct. Not sure yet if the grandchild is a boy or girl but I will be prepared! Ha Ha! Thanks so much again for your free tutorials!!! Hi Shellie, thank you for the tutorial. It's beautiful as all your work is. I was wondering if you know of a way to "reinforce" the spine after the 1st and 2nd pages are added. it keeps wanting to "fall into itself" not stay conformed as a book. thanks.
You can always add a cover over your spine like I've done on other tutorials albums in the past (on the outside), however, if you've already decorated it, I suggest adding just over the outside hinges some of your decorative paper.

I am amazed at how beautiful your albums are. I have a friend that told me about your tutorials. I purchased most of the stuff for It"s a Boy. I can not find the pitter patter. I make this just as the tutorial shows. I am not very creative. I am wondering is there anywhere to get the pitter patter or anything else you can suggest. Thank you!

I am finishing up my boy album and am doing the photo mats. Did you just use up your scraps of paper and that is how you determined the sizes or do you have standard sizes that you use? Thank you for this tutorial it was easy to follow. I made quite a few mistakes but it is my first one and I think the recipients will be very happy with it.
I used the left over scraps and also cut into new sheets. General size photos are 4 x 6 , 3-1/2 x 5", 5 x 7, and you can also make them larger or smaller. There is no right or wrong way to do picture mats. I make them all sizes as I like to crop pictures but I also like to just lay pictures on mats without cropping on some.

Hi Shellie, I just found this tutorial & love it. However, I'd like to add a suggestion for future reference? When giving a link for the materials list, instead of just sending us to your main page, it would be great if you would save us the time of having to dig through and find it if you would just link straight to that particular materials list page. For many of us time is of the essence so don't have the time it takes to dig through your website looking for the materials pages which ends up being frustrating and discouraging causing some, possibly many, to just go elsewhere. I love your work & your presentation though.

Hi Paula. I don't sell the albums I make in tutorials. They go onto a shelf in the hobby store where customers can touch and open them to get ideas or to examine before they make one. It's rare I have time to make and sell any albums any more, however, sometimes I get a chance. Right now I don't have any. I'm so sorry :(

ok thank you.. I am thinking about using duck tape.. its a really strong tape that i normally use to bind my books.. it has a really strong adhesive so i won't have to add double side take.. if you knw about the tape pls advice.. I want to make this album for my friend's wedding as she is moving to canada after her wedding and its would be a lovely gift for her to take along.

Hi Shellie I know I'm asking too much here but you responded to marija kostoska that she could make a second album measuring 8.5x6.5.. how can I follow your tutorial with those measurements.
Your album using left overs will not look exactly like this because of the papers we used in this tutorial, but what I was saying is there is enough left overs to make another album if someone wanted to. If you want to make an 8.5 x 6.5 album, you can follow any of my 8.5 x 6.5 tutorials for measurements of album, inner pages, and size to cut your decorative paper to. Once you have that, you can use the boy or girl paper to place in your album.
I'm not sure how your cover can rip. Did you wrap your differently than shown in the video? Can you send me a picture at shellie@jshobbiesandcrafts.com of the outside and inside of your covers, making sure to show hinges so I can see what's happening?

Yikes! I went to start this album and realized my paper pad is only 8 x 8 instead of 12 x 12. Do you think I should go ahead with the 8 x 8 size for the album or downsize it to 6 1/2 x 6 1/2? I haven’t been able to locate the larger paper pad.

Shellie Geigle - J & S Hobbies and Crafts Rats! You were out of the girl pad when I started looking for it. I thought I had ordered the 12 x 12 when I finally found it. I can’t return it and don’t want to waste it. I know I will need to make adjustments, but I think I will try the 6 1/2 x 6 1/2. I will let you know how it turns out. I just finished making the Beauty in Blue album and am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Only a few minor mistakes that I found a way to fix or hide occurred. I have the Winter’s Eve paper waiting, too. Thanks for such great tutorials, Shellie.
The paper pack you used was not available. I found it difficult to follow using different paper, especially with the reservers. It also took a tremendous amount of time. Thanks for what you do!
They do take some time to make but well worth it as you've just created a keepsake. It is easier to follow along using the same paper. But a tip for using different paper and the reserves. Use the same size paper pack (12 x12) to start with. When I pull a new sheet from the paper pack, you should be too. Also, when I'm reaching into the reserve pile, my best advice is to watch to see where I'm placing it first and then reach into your reserves to find a similar sized piece (If I'm covering a pocket, you can see what size pocket I'm covering as your pocket will be the same. Wish that paper was still available. It was adorable.
If you are using the same paper pad I did, you can get one just like the one in tutorial, you can make a second album with what's left however, it will look different as there are different papers left over. You may be able to depending on your usage of paper for a 2nd album. I would say an 8-1/2 x 6-1/2 size for your second.

Hi Paula. I don't sell the albums I make in tutorials. They go onto a shelf in the hobby store where customers can touch and open them to get ideas or to examine before they make one. It's rare I have time to make and sell any albums any more, however, sometimes I get a chance. Right now I don't have any. I'm so sorry :(

I am thinking about using duck tape.. its a really strong tape that i normally use to bind my books.. it has a really strong adhesive so i won't have to add double side take.. if you knw about the tape pls advice.. I want to make this album for my friend's wedding as she is moving to canada after her wedding and its would be a lovely gift for her to take along.

Hi Shellie I know I'm asking too much here but you responded to marija kostoska that she could make a second album measuring 8.5x6.5.. how can I follow your tutorial with those measurements.
Your album using left overs will not look exactly like this because of the papers we used in this tutorial, but what I was saying is there is enough left overs to make another album if someone wanted to. If you want to make an 8.5 x 6.5 album, you can follow any of my 8.5 x 6.5 tutorials for measurements of album, inner pages, and size to cut your decorative paper to. Once you have that, you can use the boy or girl paper to place in your album.

There should be lace in my ebay store that is the same as what I used in the tutorial. :) Any lace will work though.

Yikes! I went to start this album and realized my paper pad is only 8 x 8 instead of 12 x 12. Do you think I should go ahead with the 8 x 8 size for the album or downsize it to 6 1/2 x 6 1/2? I haven’t been able to locate the larger paper pad.

I can’t return it and don’t want to waste it. I know I will need to make adjustments, but I think I will try the 6 1/2 x 6 1/2. I will let you know how it turns out. I just finished making the Beauty in Blue album and am pretty pleased with how it turned out. Only a few minor mistakes that I found a way to fix or hide occurred. I have the Winter’s Eve paper waiting, too. Thanks for such great tutorials, Shellie.
You should have no problem doing a 6-1/2 x 6-1/2 size with an 8 x 8 pad. :) Have fun making your album. Will come out beautiful!

Hi there...could you please tell me what measurements I would need to use for the hidden binding system?
Hi. I used my own binding system in this tutorial. I don't have measurements for hidden hinge system by Kathy Orta or others.
The paper pack you used was not available. I found it difficult to follow using different paper, especially with the reservers. It also took a tremendous amount of time. Thanks for what you do!
They do take some time to make but well worth it as you've just created a keepsake. It is easier to follow along using the same paper. But a tip for using different paper and the reserves. Use the same size paper pack (12 x12) to start with. When I pull a new sheet from the paper pack, you should be too. Also, when I'm reaching into the reserve pile, my best advice is to watch to see where I'm placing it first and then reach into your reserves to find a similar sized piece (If I'm covering a pocket, you can see what size pocket I'm covering as your pocket will be the same. Wish that paper was still available. It was adorable.
can you make 2 albums out of one paper pad?
If you are using the same paper pad I did, you can get one just like the one in tutorial, you can make a second album with what's left however, it will look different as there are different papers left over. You may be able to depending on your usage of paper for a 2nd album. I would say an 8-1/2 x 6-1/2 size for your second.
What can I use if I don't have tyvek paper?
I've heard some people use Kraft Tex.
