It is clear to me that our country lags significantly in overall literacy-educational, political, and economic. The pervasive corruption, mismanagement, and political instability are not causes of underdevelopment but rather its consequences. A truly functioning democracy should not merely be a system where we vote for the right candidate but one where we can effectively remove the bad ones. Despite changes over the years, the core of our political parties and their leaders remains largely unaffected. As a result, they continue to dominate the nation. Our notion of Nepal as a democracy is highly urban-centric, while rural areas are still controlled by landlords and upper castes. In conclusion, regardless of the democratic model we adopt, meaningful growth will remain elusive until the majority of the population achieves literacy. We must focus on empowering our youth, who excel in various fields, to become world-class experts and leverage their talents to transform the educational landscape of Nepal. Only then can we hope to achieve the progress we desire.
