It's not just that Rondo has more experience and can do more right now. He's not going to sit quietly on the bench and watch Lonzo struggle, be passive and not play at 100% effort. Especially if he's right, he's going to make it known he should be starting and playing more. He's not the kind of vet that's going to coddle Lonzo and tell him it's alright, that's just not his attitude
I think this is a great move by the Lakers because it adds a quality veteran player whom is also a champion and former all-star. They have similar skill sets and Rondo will push Lonzo to be even better than what he is because of how competitive Rondo is as a player. Remember, when Magic joined the Lakers, they already had a talented guard in Norm Nixon. Clearly Magic was a better player, but Norm took some of the burden off Magic and it also helped that he had Kareem to lean on which accelerated his maturation process. I’m not comparing Lonzo to Magic and their situation isn’t even entirely similar, but I think we’re about to see just how good Lonzo could be. I think he had a great rookie campaign and we should be focused on building off of that and it’s never too late to learn in the NBA.

It's not just that Rondo has more experience and can do more right now. He's not going to sit quietly on the bench and watch Lonzo struggle, be passive and not play at 100% effort. Especially if he's right, he's going to make it known he should be starting and playing more. He's not the kind of vet that's going to coddle Lonzo and tell him it's alright, that's just not his attitude
Compete against Rondo an learn from him is a big oportunity for Lonzo. I think he will reach a new lvl.

I think this is a great move by the Lakers because it adds a quality veteran player whom is also a champion and former all-star. They have similar skill sets and Rondo will push Lonzo to be even better than what he is because of how competitive Rondo is as a player.
Remember, when Magic joined the Lakers, they already had a talented guard in Norm Nixon. Clearly Magic was a better player, but Norm took some of the burden off Magic and it also helped that he had Kareem to lean on which accelerated his maturation process. I’m not comparing Lonzo to Magic and their situation isn’t even entirely similar, but I think we’re about to see just how good Lonzo could be. I think he had a great rookie campaign and we should be focused on building off of that and it’s never too late to learn in the NBA.

Having rondo and Lonzo compete for starting point guard might finally bring some emotion out of lonzo .. last season he was strolling like he was out there dropping a smoove 30
They brought a Min because Lonzo needs a mentor in the locker room and if he gets injured they got it back up and if Rondo gets injured which is he's been prone to do they also have a backup for Rondo. Rondo's knee went out in Chicago, he got injured in this last playoff series while he was in with the Pelicans so this works out great for everybody
Rondo is one a 1 year deal. This is just about another veteran there who can help Lonzo with experience and push him to compete for the job as well as pick up his young slack.
