My dad showed me this beautiful video almost two years ago. He came into the living room where I was sitting and asked me to listen to this video. He said it was one of the most amazing things he had ever seen and started crying. He died 9 months ago and I finally found this again and listening to it makes me think about him and how much he loved music. Thank you for this.

@@JamieDupuisMusician Please, correct me if I'm wrong but this instrument has been around since ancient Greece in varying forms. Potentially even back to 2000 BCE but certainly during medieval times. The most familiar was the citole which wasn't fretted. Prior to the creation of the gittern. A variant of the lute... And, by the way, my father studied viola and my mother still plays the cello and the violin. Plus, the obligatory piano. I played french horn and listened to ELP and Rick Wakeman. I know a quality sound and this is it. Loved the strat!

Became a fan of the Moody Blues, and other bands, while in the Army in the early 70s. As most GIs would tell you this was our primary entertainment stationed overseas. Got married several years after I got out of the Army. Hired a local band to play at our wedding. Asked them to play this song while we were at the alter. Married now forty years, hearing you play this song takes me back to the alter, and puts tears in my eyes. Young man, you are a brilliant artist and composer! Thank-you for sharing your talent.

Ariana Is queen Awesome! But know, Age, and how many instruments you can play does not make you an excellent musician, make sure you understand your instrument, or at least perfect one (have at least 1 main instrument). For example, music theory. Music theory, is the most important thing when learning instruments, well one of the most important things of course. If you just know how to play, but do not understand music theory, and how 7, dim, add, sus, power chords (the 5th), work, and how to use them. Then you have a lot to learn, also knowing how to find the key of a note is very important. Scales, etc. Now, why I said age doesn’t matter, I see this a lot. Every time there is a 8-13 year olds playing an instrument very well, people say wow, you are talented, half of the adults that play the instrument are not even as good as you. Age doesn’t matter, a 13 year old can learn for 2 years, another 30 year old will learn for 2 years. If they both put in dedication, and effort, they will probably be near the same skill, but it really depends on the person, people learn at different rates. So if you see someone saying, he is only 8-13 (one of those) give him a break. Tell them what I just said.

Stonewall Jackson Hm, I’m not sure what you mean by the bells sound, Ive been playing for 6 years, maybe it’s just your piano. I would get a keyboard 88keys, so you can customise the sound, but still have a real piano.

If anyone wanted to sing along...
    Lyrics...
    Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
    Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
    That split the night
And touched the sound of silence
And in the naked light I saw
    Ten thousand people, maybe more
    People talking without speaking
    People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
    No one dared
    Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
    Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
    And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence
    Songwriters: Paul Simon

Everything audible is noise. pretty weak insult. Besides, simply because you don't like modern music doesn't make it bad I mean everything has been done before anyways so who cares.

    • @synthrogue6856
      @synthrogue6856 7 лет назад +7

James Dennis get down off your high horse, if you can't find ANY modern music that isn't devoid of talent or skill then you obviously don't take music at all seriously, take the time to search and listen.
There are PLENTY of artists and bands out there in all genres and fields creating incredible music.
Pretentious comments like this lead me to believe you and others think any solo acoustic session is somehow the greatest musical accomplishment and limit yourself to things like this and this alone.
EVERY era, 50s, 60s, 70s, so on and so forth has had its fair share of junk among gold and 'today's' standard is no different.

I can agree for the most part, but I like a couple modern songs.
There are many that I prefer covers over, too
I find old music more appealing, too, but some modern musicians really aren't bad.
Imagine Dragons has been one of my all time favorites ever since Radioactive came out as a single. Of course, I prefer Demons over Radioactive, but Image Dragons makes great albums.

Came back for my...🤔...25th...maybe 30th go around? I just realized I've never commented here (as I never have before - not until JD's effort, excellence and dedication to music absolutely demanded it of me soon after this.) This was my 2nd dose of JD after an accidental listen to his "Dust in the Wind."...2 bars in on this?... I was hooked and couldn't hit "Subscribe" fast enough! (And I am a self professed music snob.)
My father was a peer of S&G. They had HUGE impact on his play. I grew up with all their music - as tho they set up shop in our living room daily.
Dislikes? Guaranteed "purists"... The reason Simon didn't write bass into this piece from the beginning is because he didn't play the harp guitar.😏... Perfection Jamie D.😘
