The quality and subtlety of narration, the sense of personal, cultural and automotive heritage, together with Simon's unequaled ability to make his stories interwoven with the cars so emotive - to me, this is an absolute masterpiece that I continue to revisit very often. It exemplifies that cars are not purely an objects of art, or purely objects that enable experience, but rather that they let us discover and become part of both of these in our lives, interwoven in that je-ne-sais-quoi. Wonderful.
Amazing Car! There so many interesting bodies on the Type 57. To be honest I much prefer these older Bugatti cars to the new ones. Tres Bien Fait! 😎👍🇨🇦
@@MrTimstaaa you would need to be well off just to fill it up. I would think it would do no more than 15 mpg ..less at full throttle. some of these were upgraded to hydraulic brakes. What I've learnt over time is that there are two ways of dealing with cars. one is with a human heart, the other a mechanical one. Always go with the latter !
All I can say is that Simon understands the connection we have to the art of the car, and more so how it affects people individually. This story is a great illustration of the connections it can illicit. And I might add it’s an unbelievable advertisement for Bugatti.
Just magnificent, a great tribute to your Father and Bugatti. I love the fact you opened with another of my favorite people in the motor world , Ivan Dutton , Shed Racing channel. A great story teller and passionate Motorhead. Coming Home is a great short film and once again I enjoyed it immensely, a truly beautiful Bugatti. Life is a series of circles, in the quit we hold on to the beginning of those earliest memories those childhood experiences which become the fabric of our dreams and passions, maybe someday we can reach out and grasp the past, the start of a memory a moment in our life, tie the two ends together, past & present. This is a moment of profound calm, and joy. Your story is that, you have brought the moments back together and made it whole, those who have experienced it in your story are much richer, because we have shared your happiness and completeness. Perhaps someplace, somewhere there will be another circle that is coming to a closure for someone, as we speak .
@@robertely686 yep, I am a creative and I certainly have more respect for creative people than people who inherited their wealth. That's why I said that my touch of jealousy in this case was very rare for me.
beautiful film. All I could think of towards the end was Gandalf: "....all we have to do is decide what to do with the time we are given." This blessed plot, this England.
The most moving, emotionally vivid video I've ever watched about a car, a son, a journey, a company...and the lives touched by a very special machine....I'm choked. Thank you so much Simon.
Favoloso anche questo video. È veramente emozionante poter ammirare un capolavoro di Arte Motoristica come questa stupenda Bugatti: grazie Signor Kidston 👍👍👍
Thank you for this superb insight into automotive passions that run through your family's DNA. I feel privileged to be able to see this film. Writing 'thank you for sharing' seems so inadequate somehow ...
I fully understand how you feel. I drove the Opel Super Six (Kapitän) that my father bought new in 1939 for over 55 years. My cradle stood in that car! (I was born in 1946). The car had survived five years of German occupation then. You are right: Cars do connect people. Special cars do...
To few people are left in this world that know how to pay a tribute, without fearing to deal with Emotions authentically. Thank you for being that sort of a Human. Apparently, Yu and I are only three years apart. You Father was born three months apart from mine. They both seemed to have shared a passion for motor cars. Your Father for Bugatti's; my Father for Talbot Lago's and Mercedes sport cars... This is why, I thought it essential to Thank You!
These films stir the soul. None so much as this. I feel they will have their individual roles in automotive history as well. They continue to be the most enjoyable to watch and I cannot help but be mesmerized each and every time. Thank you Mr. Kidston for sharing this deep love which we have for these beautiful and wondrous machines.
Thank you Simon. Your videos always bring me joy. Great production values and fantastic audio, especially the driving. Always looking forward to your next.
This film so passionately describes what it is about cars that excites so much....thank you for this top notch production. Ok now I am going to watch again.....
'' A very personal film'' indeed by Simon Kidston that I can perfectly relate to, since I too have a ''57'' & when I say I have a ''57'' I do have to explain it's a case of these numbers featuring in the registration plate of my late father's A Class Mercedes & which will be a more modest fifteen years old in September 2022 & six years of which I've been it's owner & for sure, every time I drive it, it never fails to '' bring me together'' with my father & I know he would have also loved to have known that he too was the owner of a ''57''
SK, heartfelt, a history with very little compare and a wonderful journey home. All of these wonderful machines that mean so much to us will out live us and tell our stories for many generations to come. We may not be famous, but our cars at least reveal a little of our lives. Thank you.
As someone incredibly lucky enough to have landed a job involved in the history of Bugatti specifically this is a gem and inspiration perhaps for my own future movies , look forward to seeing and learning much so more thank you !
I never met my dad, so this has a particular resonance for me. Thank you for this. It means Alot as a lifelong bugatti fan and the son of a single mom.
I've had a couple of good chats with Ivan. He's a cracking old boy. The real deal. Not some shady spiv who spews verbal excreta awash with fibbery. That aside this video is superb. Subtle and exquisite. Much like the Bugatti. It's a rich mans world gentlemen and we are simply custodians whilst we are here..
As a car enthusiast I love all of the cars, the nice cars, the good cars and so on. And there are a lot of channels that talks all those lovely cars. And then there is your channel Mr. Kidston, a channel that is different from all of the others. Here no nice cars or good cars can enter, here only the excellence is admitted. All my esteem Mr. Kidston
Wow what a beautifully enigmatic film. Simon did you per chance have anything to do with the Type 57SC Gangloff and Atlantic in Ralph Laurens collection? And also what of the Aerolithe?
And in 80 years from now, some chap will be searching for his grandfather's Tesla Model 3 and re-living all the moments grandpa spent driving that lovely, plastic, digital masterpiece... Hmm... nah, that will never happen. Cars have no soul nowadays.
That brings something else into question, it's the human attachment that makes the car special, it's the memories and experiences. Perhaps some chap will search for his grandfather's tesla, who knows.. :)
Truly a well produced piece of art, touching story ….you should be very proud
Absolutely fantastic story. Thanks for this video, it’s a work of art.
I am a bit stunned that this is not more popular. So much better than most things around here.
