    I’m from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and grew up as a lad surrounded by mining community and thank god I never went down the pits. Absolutely hate what happened to the miners in Great Britain it was a disgrace how they were treated. I have nothing but respect for a breed of special people who kept us all together and stopped the country from going under. Labour and the Conservatives were disgusting in the treatment of the miners. You people will always be remembered and not forgotten. ❤.

    Why exactly did it close. I believe it only lasted about 13 years after the year long strike.

      A few things online say that they mined out the economic seams and what was left was either substandard coal or not viable due to the costs associated with trying to get to it. Maybe someone who was there could tell us what exactly happened
