Bobby himself said that he is ok and happy with the dance thing and his part in the song cause he actually was busy with his album and the members didn't want him to get tired, that's why I need for all of you first to see what the members said then talk, they are all happy and satisfied with it, so let's just support them all
This is a mismanagement of schedule for me. If yg well planned the whole thing of his solo and group songs, he could have participated more. I know they said they are happy with that but who will say they are not
@@hongipl9464 this propably got push up because of Kingdom. Kingdom is honestly an after thought, they change their mind for fans exposure after initially declined it. That’s why we have this as pre-Kingdom exposure and Bobby has to cut his promotion short.
@@hongipl9464 you said it, it the company problem, the members have nothing to do with it, the fans should go and say that on the official account of the company not ikon official account and the members, they are trying their best these days and they are tired we need to support them not arguing about who took more parts !!!
@@anooy6882 yeah it is the company problem as we all know that the company’s management sucks. But people can also state their opinion as Bobby is not even in the choreography. It is normal that people questioned about it. Just like people always stating yundongchan should have more parts in the past. dont worry, people are supporting
After watching a lot of reactions about why why why, I've realized that ikon's amazing b-sides are largely undiscovered by a lot of people. Hence, why most of them are surprised by the style of the song but for us ikonics it's very much on brand for them. Such a shame though because their b-sides are diamonds.
Wow, 10.000 agree with you Why they said this is not iKON, man did you know about all iKON's song? They can sing many genre, looks for Dive, it's wrote by BI by the way
It's funny you say "is it a winner song?" Lots of Korean fans said the sound reminded them of bigbang! The sound is very old school YG, it's ver nostalgic and a little different to usual iKON since it's their second song that Hanbin hasn't made so their sound will change a little but you still see flickers of iKON in there since bobby helped with the song production!
I definitely got an old school YG vibe from this comeback as well, but still didn't ever think it was out of character for iKON. As a YG stan tho it made me very happy (yet super sad because it's hella emotional and BI being gone still hits way too hard).
I understand the budget complaints, especially cuz its been over a year since Dive but as an iKONIC I was very touched by all the symbolism in Why Why Why to past music videos. I agree w/ what you said about them focusing more on the vocalists and trying to find their sound since B.I. left but to me this song doesn't sound drastically different. With b-sides like Apology, Don't Forget, Just For You and title tracks like I'm OK and Goodbye Road this fits pretty seamlessly into their discography. With everything they've been thru in the last 2 years I'm just happy to see them still releasing new music. I have mixed feelings about them doing Kingdom but since it's what the members wanted I'll support them
Apology was one to grab my attention during the days when I wasn't much into kpop. (Just hearin few songs here n there of some first geb groups but a VIP) Just go is just so iconic. It made me fell in love with them.
Can someone explain to me about Kingdom. I’m a new kpop stan and I’m confused... kingdom promotes groups/gives underrated groups attention and a chance to get more hype so why is this a bad thing? Why would fans not want their fav group to be on it if not to get more popularity
@@lunarialoonatic because iKON was previously on 2 survival competition shows. The first was called WIN: Who is Next where they were 1 of 2 teams competing under YG to debut. The lost to the team that would eventually debut as Winner. The following year the were put on MIX & MATCH where half of the team from WIN had to prove they were good enough to debut against other trainees. Only B.I., Bobby & Jay were confirmed members. The 3 other members (Ju-ne, DK and Song) that were on WIN eventually made the final line up w/ the additional of Chanwoo. In 2019 they lost their leader and producer B.I to a scandal that turned out to be false. I just can't watch them go thru another show that pits them against other groups. And after a hiatus of more then a year it feel like YG is using them. I'm glad new fans are finding their music but I wish it wasn't in this way. I just have trust issues as to why they were picked. I don't think it has anything to do with being underrated. It probably has a lot more to do with money. The members seem to be excited but who wouldn't be after spending the last 2 years barely releasing new music or having promotional activities.
iKon has done some pretty melancholy "breakup" songs before, like Apology and Airplane (and I'm OK kinda???). I do agree though that Bobby and B.I. used to be the main drivers of most of their title tracks. Bobby might have wanted to stay away from being focused on as the sole rapper/"leader" of iKon so maybe they are trying to establish that the other artists shine really well on their own and they can be better appreciated. I think it was really smart to come back with one of these types of songs since the rest of the group are more singers than rappers. I had mixed reactions, too, but this was definitely a great comeback and I hope they do really well!!
To this point I think it’s better for them to release a vocal line song alongside with Bobby’s solo then having a whole ikon comeback after Kingdom. Bobby is treated like a ft. singer here and there. I don’t like the fact that he had to halt his solo promotion for this 20seconds and half participation in choreography.
@@hongipl9464 He willingly wanted to participate. And the reason why he doesn't dance in the beginning but comes back later is to symbolize that he will always come back to the group. So this is Bobby's choice
@@hongipl9464 I agree that yge mismanaged Bobby's solo cb and iKON's digital release.. But giving a separate iKON vocal line cb and Bobby solo cb right after Kingdom might not be a good idea since they're participating in KD as a group. I'd say give iKON a full album comeback with some unit tracks plus bobby solo tracks is better...🤔 taking advantage of the boost in the whole group's PR is the move, I think.
I think this song just shows how their music has matured as well? I am not kidding when I’m saying , I can’t just get over this song . Probably it’s one of those songs which lingers around your heart and we all know how lingering feelings are . I can see myself listening to this 10 years down the line .💙
They definitely deserve a full comeback. Hope after Kingdom they get it. They definitely have to have one *SOON* and *SUPPORTED* . Why Why Why is beautiful for sure
3:26 lot's of people who reacted to this said that bobby's flow and the set reminded them of something and that's because the set is very similar to love scenario and bobby's flow is very similar to the rap verses in love scenario. His lyrics are also similar to his rap in the iKON song, don't forget me. This song pays homage to their past so there are lots of reoccurring themes and sets from their older songs such as love scenario, goodbye road and I'm ok
To answer your question they had very melancholic and vocal focused songs before just not title tracks: Just Go, Don't Forget, Adore You, Perfect..... (their sadder songs are some of the most famous ones within the fandom too)
@@HeatherLKramer tbh just go is the song that made me go from "everyone in iKON is my bias" straight to "yep! u know what?! that guy. yeah yunhyeong. well he is the one now". it's like he was born for this song.
Honestly I don't think this song is that different from their other songs? Especially having things like Goodbye Road. It's true what you said about the rap tho, they usually have two rap verses on their songs and they've been doing only one lately, but I still think this sounds like an iKON song.
Yeah, like others B side, rap side usually wrote by BI & Bobby, in Why Why Why he wrote his self, iKON can sing many genre, like Dive is very different than others but Dive also wrote by BI, I think is the best that they choose this kind of song for their comback
I agree to you, Why Why Why actually got a similar vibe to Goodbye Road, never a Winner song. It’s just that it only has one rap verse, instead of two (Bobby and B.I verses) on their other break up songs.
I love love love this song, I cannot believe we finally got the old school late 2000s/early 2010s YGE sound and I'm so happy it's iKON who brought it back. 👑 Rooting for them so hard.
I saw ikonic talking about this but I strongly doubt that. YG tried so hard to erase all Hanbin’s existence even for the past of the group then why would them remind people of him with the first title song without him? I am not talking about relationship between Hanbin and members left. Ofc they are good brothers but I think a lot of ikonic forget they are under a company call YG
@@hongipl9464 but the erasing of Hanbin was pretty much before the results of the test he took, aka before he was proven innocent. I have the feeling that they relaxed after that, I mean, the results puts him in a place of unfairness against what happened.
@@hongipl9464 ah yes, not at all to defend YG but that's pretty much what companies do when a member leave (is kicked out). But I mean, I think is plausible to believe that they allowed them to say goodbye to BI in a way in this release. It's not like it was straightforward saying his name or using his image, but the lyrics and the nostalgia from older mvs definetily is kind of hinting
@@nayg75 well they could have done better. What they did was a whole disrespect for the choreographer, composer, producer of the group. They could have done it like LS mv one. Not about YG but I felt that flower is a goodbye song to hanbin and whywhywhy is a new start
I just realized that people calling ikon’s sound was actually B.I’s sound instead. I felt that ikon is redebuting at this point. Btw yga’s songs had to be passed through YHS in the past. I don’t know if he is still controlling everything now, but since last year I think he has less power to the whole management. Anyways, YHS is a very bias people. Even for bigbang, GD made a main part for seungri but YHS disliked it so GD had to sing along. YHS’s bias in iKON is B.I and Bobby (maybe June too) so apart from hanbin’s decision, it can be also YHS’s influence that rap line shine more in the past?
no way. cause even though there are more lines for rappers, there vocals were equally heard. It is just about how they divide each part to whom will this line would be and such. You can barely hear DK and Chanu on iKON's title track it is because there vocals didn't fit the song. That is how B.I managed to divide each part. But some of iKON's songs like adore you, just for you, goodbye road, dont forget, hug me, and more ; you can hear DK's voice a lot. Also chanum
Well.. Even bi didn't have much say in the music that was released . It was always upto yhs. If you remember empty by winner was his composition. I guess yhs wanted them to make more hiphop style music. They always had good btracks. A lot of the songs they produced were never included in the album initially. They used to upload it on SoundCloud. Fans used to pressurise yhs to release them. Yhs bad rejected love scenario before. Goodbye road was made in 2015. Like when it comes to releasing music it was always upto the ceo.bi was finally getting his way. But that was when the scandal happened.
The way I interpret this MV is: The whole story is a reminiscient of their past MVs (LS, Goodbye Road, I'm Okay) with bits of easter eggs per scene. It's like they're being nostalgic about their past, they will NOT forget it but they have to move on. The lyrics is telling us that no matter what, the past they had with BI will always be with them but they have to let him go. They were riding on the bus and burned it in the end. Remember when they first debuted? They entered the stage riding a bus. For me it feels like they're putting an end to that era of iKON. They're burning it with heavy hearts but like I've said, they need to move on. So that's why they turned their backs and walked away. The passé/pourquoi for me signifies that they're still aware of the past, even calling them and reminding them but DK had to decline answering so they could focus on what's infront of them. Also, Bobby threw the ring, I remember during their countdown he said that his scene was significant. It could prolly be him throwing their "friendship" ring and leaving it behind... The choreo itself says about how they matured, they became men (as Song said) and is showing us that things really changed. But they're still iKON no matter what. The gestures are so elegantly done only iKON can pull off. If you watch ReacttotheK's reaction, they talked about the musicality of this song and you will be blown away on how everything (even the notes, chord and arrangement!!!) is RELATIVE!! Please watch it if you haven't! They talked about how well-done it is, how smooth the arrangement was and the meaning behind each chords. iKON came back hard! They deserve an award for this. Damn. Let's keep the views up guys! Let's vote for them. Let's show others that iKON is it's own genre and that's on periodt! (sorry for the long post ✌🏻)
Bobby said he wasn't in the first part for a reason, it is supposed to represent him returning back from is solo activities to his members as his first priority will always be his members. Bobby helped write and compose this song for his members to shine! He actually was there when they filmed the dance sequence without him, he was watching from the corner with pride for his members. So it was all intentional!
Hi PD you're definitely right it's a reused set, and that's pretty much the whole concept of the video. The whole MV is a walk through of their debut (the bus), the port (goodbye road), the basement (killing me), the phone (love scenario). The implied message seems to be a walkthrough of their previous iKON successes and that they'll move on by burning the bus and finally start anew. Thank you so much for reacting. Giving us also like a light that views definitely of course affect how much budget an agency will be willing to spend for their artist. Like BP for example it's only ubderstable that they get really huge sets bcoz they have more views. Love ur honesty in always!
I agree w many that this was a farewell to B.I and that they are moving forward. IMO, the MV was meant to be reminiscent of their past, starting w the container port after Chanwoo’s part - same scene as Goodbye Road...a wish to walk the flowery path. And I definitely think this song is their sound.
I actually think this song fits perfectly in iKON's discography, it reminds me of the sorrow of songs like Apology or I'm OK with a sound similar to Flower; to me it sounds as if those three songs had a child (with a hint of sth new). I think there's plenty of iKON songs were that are more vocal focused but I do agree that since they have just one rapper, the rap part feels so short... I got the same feeling with Dive. I personally like the music video mostly because of the little details like the crying glass of water or the phone receiving a call from the past but, yeah, it's not the typical YGE budget...
@@hongipl9464 (2) true esp when u talk about their first time shoot on dazed. HAHAHAHA you can really see the low budget since their debut. I hate YG for doing that to iKON. the only high budget is when they burn the car.
@@clarkchavez9276 and some dumbos still use the big 3 privilege card on iKON for them going on kingdom but in reality they don't even benefit from that ! Let's support them on Kingdom iKONICS !
Disagree on that statement. Those songs were heavily led by Bobby, June, and Bi which have a very hip hop feeling. But why why why is very vocal led (not even singing rap) which I would say is a rebirth of ikon.
@@trueirony2116 "I'm OK" is melodic driven though, even Bobby and BI rap part are melodic rap. The whole song doesn't have one single build up. When the beat dropped, it dropped to piano melody (much much less dramatic than "why why why"). The only things that is pounding is the beat base but it stayed flat the whole time (similar to "Flower" and "why why why"). Another song that has the similar vibe to "why why why" is "Flower" but "flower" doesn't have a MV.
I am sick of people forgetting bsides exist, and that title tracks dont define the whole discography of the group like daamn iKON had many songs of this kind before😐
@@feebrandes3492 Goodbye Road, Flower, Apology, Just Go, Don't Forget, Just For You, Adore you, Perfect, Hug me, Wait for me. These are more vocal focused songs of their discography, I think the first two remind me of Whywhywhy the most ☺️
It's maybe be too late but most of the songs that we love from ikon are their ballads. Some people probably surprised to hear this kind of music from them but not us.They don't repeat sounds, their music explores different genre. Hope you all dig in more of their bsides, they're everything 🙂🙂.
Ur right, but also mistaken pd... iKON's vocals were not really highlighted in their title tracks, and it's true that iKON is known for their strong rap-driven songs whether its slow or fast... But this single is much like their loved b-sides where vocals are on focus... It's just the way they are branded because they want dstnction from WINNER which is also a grp focused in vocals... But for many iKONICS, and personally, i have loved listenng to their bsidea mor than their title (except for goodbye road, apology whch are under appreciated also)
To be honest I think this song is for b.I and they are having sets that look like the ones they used before to remember all the beautiful moments they had with each other.... that’s just what i got from the song and the mv
I didn't think of why why why as a winner song at first but I can see where you're coming from. iKON has similar melancholy songs like flower, don't forget, apology, and i cant remember other ones but you are very right when they were more focused on rap parts back then than vocal parts. thanks for the video PD!
I discovered Bobby through Devil (I love this title soooo much) literally one month ago. Then when I get into this song I went like... What? The mood is so different between the two! 😱 I don't know the full story about B.I as I'm new here so I can't really understand what the lyrics are about. But I really loved Why Why Why it's a beautiful and melancholic song. I hope they will enjoy the Kingdom show. Can't wait to hear more new stuff from them. Thanks a lot PD 😘
this song is like flower, adore you, just for you, dont forget, apology, just go, goodbye road, Im ok, hug me, airplane, my type and such. There are lots of iKON's songs which are similiar to this but you can not get tired of listening to. 😂
iKon has one of the best discography in terms of ballads and soft songs in kpop which is surprising ar first but its 100% facts, starting from the masterpieces that Hug Me and Jerk are
it actually reminded me more of bigbang than winner but yes when it comes to the music video there are some parts where it is similar t their past mv's like goodbye road on the shipment smth and love scenario the and I'm ok. the song is really good, the lyrics are heartbreaking, the emotions and vocals of each one of them are really great! It reminds me of B.I, from the lyrics and I think this song is actually a perfect goodbye to their past era and a perfect beginning for iKON.
maybe you should listen to flower by ikon then, whywhywhy song remind me of flower not from the melody but the pain they have gone through. Plus it was written by DK, the "handsome guy" you react to. But i really like why whywhy, it feels like a goodbye but not a sad one. Yes it does feels like killing me, im ok and love scénario mv but i really think that this song is a farewell of this era. That why the mv might feel like it's lacking but again i did love that they did that. To me the MV is as genuine as the song.
The set PD talking about is the one on "Killing me" its a little bit similar and also i think they inspired to their past mv's "love scenario" is also noticeable same goes to "goodbye road" that's why the song is talking about the past and they are trying to move on from it
I think this change is actually a really good thing. Like you said, their songs were always driven by the rap line so there were always complaints about certain members in the vocal line that got little to no lines because it wasn’t just rap driven, the vocal parts were also driven by certain members. I love donghyuk’s voice, you can see his abilities here and he’s been that capable for years but this is the first time he gets more than two or three lines. He shines so much in this song so I’m super happy
This is definitely an iKON sound. They have a few b-side tracks where the vocals just absolutely dominate the entire song like Just Go, Adore You, Don't forget, Flower, Best friend, Just for You, Holdin On etc. It amazing what you'll find when you explore their albums, their discography is what i've always been amazed with. So many genres explored and mixed together.
Ok, like a lot of Ikonics here, I'd like to point out that it still sounds like an IKON song. Their slower songs in the past have a similar vibe. Winner has a different sound. And I'm so glad that the vocals in this song really stand out. They sang SO WELL here. The problem I had with previous IKON songs, despite loving Hanbin and Bobby to bits, is that majority of the songs get swallowed by rap parts so the 5 vocalists have smaller portions of the song to sing, which is a shame because they are downright beautiful singers.
I was waiting for this! I actually clapped when you said Donghyuk is so handsome because I truly feel he's been shining both in Dive and Why Why Why and it is about time people recognize him!
iKON it's been ages. The song is just beautiful, they had another songs that have a melancholic song/feel but nothing like this and I really appreciate they give them something like this. The sets (I'm not a ikonic) but yes, also give me feels of love scenario "infinite set", the basement(? in killing me (maybe the fire and the bus has to do with it) and I'm okay. If I'm not wrong (ikonics correct me) is the same story line(?
i love the song but i agree i wish bobby had more lines especially since it's only bobby in the group now...ikon has always had strong vocalists which have been mostly outshined by the rap line in terms of how the songs have been set up so im glad at least they get to shine
but if you check their songs, the rap line didn't have the most line. They only got the most lines in strong hip hop songs as there are only two rappers but 5 vocals....Double B are just being famous, one for his leadership and composing, one for his SMTM3
@@lany767 Emmm I am a binic... I can see the rap line stood out (at least compare to this song) because he always made unique rap flow. but for me, most of the songs June shine the most if you ask me. This is only for title songs, if talking about those B-side, the vocals really stood out af like my fav is DK and June in Hug me, YH in just go, Jinan in BF etc. I don't even remember some of the rap flow in those b-side 😂
@@yuhu8717 yeah to each their own ig in terms of songs..my favs were freedom and even predebut long time no see and it was the raps for me 😄 but I agree junhoe even shines in this song
so proud of ikon, it’s been a long road but there’s so much more to come🖤 within the music video there are a lot of references to their older music videos it seems... it’s almost like a closure to it all
This song little bit different coz with that choreo and melody give us more kpop vibe.. before this almost iKON song had less kpop vibe.. even some of their MVs, Airplane, Apology and Im OK had no choreo at all. But this still iKON tho.. the beat is similar with Flower + Killing Me that blend so well with the melodious rap as always, their soothing voice and full emotion face show us this is iKON. Every time they had comeback they gave us something new.. and this is what I think about now.
I think this is very much an iKON-esque song. Resembles to me the general melancholy/sentimental/singer-songwriter direction and concept of Love Scenario, I'm OK, and especially Goodbye Road (not to mention countless B-sides). Also yes, there are similar sets to previous concepts, because the song is about a breakup (most likely intended for fans to interpret as the breakup with B.I), so it's meant to stir up nostalgia. Also, yes, I think the thing that feels missing is a third, final chorus. If it had that to round it all up and act as a grand finale, I think it would have been a perfect song.
Ikon's debut era actually had a very melancholic feel apart from the more aggressive songs that used to do well commercially. The rappers were highlighted more because of the direction YG wanted to take with them as Winner was supposed to be the melancholic ballad group and ikon the cool successors to Big Bang. This plan never really worked out and YG low-key did both groups dirty but Ikon has had its stint with sadness and emotionality from day one. Also, YG is a company at the end of the day and they saw the commercial potentiality and visibility of Bobby and BI and pushed that a little too much. Ikon would probably have benefitted more from keeping all members at a visible level but kpop has changed a lot over the years and I guess that's what's affecting things a lot now. People are more conscious of and persistent about members being treated better and ikon has always been very vocal about teamwork and friendship.
I don't feel like YG did WINNER wrong though? I agree, their first years were a bit rocky.. Long haitus after the first album and 1 year haitus after Nam Taehyun left but after that they've had regular comebacks. Or am i missing something?
@@LockTheLastOpenDoor1 yaa but the period after their debut was really rocky for the fandom tbh and after their Sentimental comeback which went okay but not as well as they expected and the thing with Nam Taehyun, it was super hectic and YG didn't really make it much better. Eventually things did get better but their management was handled really poorly because YG wanted Ikon to hit bigger.
@@LockTheLastOpenDoor1 remembering that period just gives me flashbacks of constant annoyance with YG because they wouldn't let the artists' put out music. Winner's first comeback was delayed way too much at the time. Akmu and Lee Hi didn't even have fandoms like Inner Circles to fight for them.
@@Ashitathakur hmmm yeah, i get it now. I've been an InnerCircle since Mino's XX album so i haven't been in the fandom all that long. I remember now from guides i watched that WINNER lost a lot of fans because of their long haitus' :(
I personally don't find this song so different, especially having heard some of their slow bsides, though I can understand how others might view it as different because I guess they are waiting for a second rap verse somewhere since that's how they did it back then. Those who have heard ikon songs, before everything happened, are used to hearing a Bobby rap verse and BI rap verse, so that's why I'm thinking others view why why why as different. This song did an amazing job of showcasing ikon's vocal line, which was shown in other ikon songs as well, but maybe people just caught the rap more. Now the sets, some are sets we've already seen, but I and many view it as symbolism since it seems it's like reminisce of their previous comebacks/memories. The bus burning, to many, is being viewed as some sort of farewell to Hanbin, not necessarily meaning they as individuals will erase or forget him, but them moving on past what happened and starting anew for the general public, finding what fits them once again.
I think music and video wise for this song it's about them trying to let go of the past especially when looking at the lyrics its talking about some sort of relationship that ended and the way I interpret it was their relationship with BI and trying to start a new as a group of 6. And I believe them using previous sets to their older music videos and similar choreogrpahical moments are to help represent them "moving" saying that what happened with BI we'll forever be grateful for but it's time for us to keep moving on
I knew you would like the song because in your past reactions you mentioned that you kinda like songs that has sad lyrics to it, something like that. I think that was when you reacted to 'eight' by IU feat. Suga. Anyway, I'm glad you did like it. As for me, I don't listen to iKON before (except for Love Scenario) but this song made me dig in to their other music because it's not your typical mainstream song, it has depth and meaning to it. Knowing the things that iKON have gone through, i felt emotional and had goosebumps listening to it. In conclusion, this song is just so sad but beautiful.
re-used sets, true though I think it's mainly for the symbolism or to relate it to their MVs. it's like a finale of the finale for B.I and the members.
In terms of melancholy and heartbreaking theme, maybe the closest to this song would be I'm OK and Flower, so it's not exactly new territory for iKON. And tbh I'm happy that the vocals get more highlighted at long last, they're often overlooked coz people always associated iKON with heavy rap when in fact they got damn good vocalists too.
I don't know why people associated them with heavy rap when Hanbin literally changed their direction to soft hip hop after the failure of Bling Bling. Even with Love scenario was not heavy hip hop.....
@@hongipl9464 I agree, even before bling bling they got softer songs but the presence of double B was just too dominant. Actually for post BI releases, I feel Dive was more out of place, it doesn't sound like an iKON song.
@@momogogochew I remember hanbin said he was fed up with sad slow songs lol since dive we heard was not the original one, I always curious how was it sound like with him
I loved this song because iKON continue to prove that they can adapt and do different genres and such, also because they let their vocalists shine to show their talent (especially happy for DK, Yunhyeong and Chanwoo in this song, their vocals are underrated) even though Bobby didn't have a longer verse or so, I feel like he's the type who'd be OK with it because he does contribute to writing and producing songs and also would definitely wanna show what everyone in the group can do and how talented each one is ♥️(besides him probably working on his album/own music ? They'd wanna cut him some slack) it's also beautiful how they sorta left Easter eggs (so re-used sets were on purpose) reminding fans of their old songs and music videos, that was smart! MVs might look different and sorta less detailed comparing to their older ones (killing me, love scenario and I'm OK for example) but their talent has grown and they're growing as well as artists I fully support them and believe in them and I hope things change for the best because B.I and the boys worked so hard and iKON deserves all the support and recognition in the world. Yes they received a huge blow but they're standing strong and are all very capable artists ♥️
They have many melancholic songs like Perfect, Just Go, Hug Me, Don't Forget, Goodbye Road, Apology, Adore you, I'm OK, and many more. They're really good.
It's 2021 and people still compare them? People keep boxing them as a hip hop group for so many years when they have some of the best vocalists and one of the most versatile discography in the industry. Sorry but it's lazy and really getting annoying at this point. It really comes off as prejudiced because anyone who is entirely new to them have always highlighted their great vocals from Love Scenario, Killing Me, Goodbye Road, etc. Also, don't let YG stans hear about the budget because they will never admit that iKON has always been treated unfairly even when they were the biggest cashcows post BB enlistment a few years back. Now, iKON is back on joining survival shows to get promoted leaving most of the work to the members as always. Anyway, this MV is actually very meaningful. The sets are reminiscent of their past music videos that's why they look familiar particularly Love Scenario, Killing Me, Goodbye Road, I'm Okay and Dive. There are nature elements as well: water, earth, wind and fire. They reminded me of B.I. in some ways because B.I. have always stated he wanted to be reborn as the wind, told the iKON members to be like water, loves flowers and his car explosion scene in I'm Okay which is similar to the ending scene in Why Why Why. It could also mean trying to understand the nature of things to find the answer why. Them being in the bus is also symbolic. iKON's first performance as a debuted group was them literally riding a bus in their debut concert. A lot of their first activities involved it. It represents their original journey as a team. You can see there's an empty seat when they were riding the bus in the MV before it burned down. This marks an end of an era and a new beginning for iKON.
so true that yg stans will never admit iKON was and is treated unfairly lol I saw them explaining why iKON has the latest tv series is because they don’t have the popularity when they debut. I laugh so hard. YG stan never treat them fairly. and chill chill chill, he said that maybe because they used to have longer rap line and rap line shine so much but in this song I feel like bobby is featuring so I also doubt that when I first watch this
@@yuhu8717 iKON were grand slam rookies and still had to break decade old records with LS before they got what's given to every YG rookie. lol Double B are the most popular/promoted pre-debut but it's honestly that prejudice that's blinding.
@@listentobutyoubyikon1292 yeah I explained the achievement they had to those yg stans and they just like: I dont know I cant see lol they are a joke. And I hate that people (even iKONics) said double b always had the most lines even though its not true.
@@yuhu8717 You can't trust anyone who puts the company first before the artists. iKON has 2 rappers and 5 vocalists. Main vocalists often get the most lines unless it's a rap heavy song. They have iconic hype songs but there's a reason why their slower and chill songs are preffered by many and their biggest hits. iKON's powerful and distinctive vocals play a huge role in them. iKON always had a diversified sound since pre-debut which developed even more after debut. The only thing that's missing is promotion for vocal line that's why some people have a skewed image of them. Those who don't have any preconceived notions don't have this problem of appreciating iKON's wholeness tho.
It definitely sounded like an iKon song to me! I get the absence of BI and how Bobby and BI took up a lot of Ikon's title tracks, but they've released a lot of melancholic songs- Goodbye Road, Apology, Airplane that are vocal heavy, and a lot of their B-sides- Don't Forget, Flower, Just For You, Adore You, etc. (there are a lot of them lol). It didn't really sound like a Winner song to me, but I loved their release.
the song has grown on me immensely since I first listened to it! since B.I's departure I was expecting iKON to pivot to a new image/sound (similar to how WINNER evolved after Taehyun left) and this is definitely a step towards that. B.I and Bobby dominated their songs before, so I'm interested in seeing how they step it up with the other 5 vocally.
I really like the song but i feel like they should've added the chorus one last time at the end to feel more complete (also in the beginning to me it sounded like a bigbang song rather than a winner song)
@@stephaniejcy yeah i get that , it's just personal taste, I don't mind it ending like that but would've loved to hear the chorus once again bcs i like that part the most :)
Why looks different, because this song mean to be like that, indirect farewell for their brother BI, rap is wrote by Bobby, it's soft & perfectly match with the song
The absence of BI's style is very prevalent and it's painful but the song is still beautiful, idk if this is a goodbye to the old ikon sound but I just wish the all the best

After watching a lot of reactions about why why why, I've realized that ikon's amazing b-sides are largely undiscovered by a lot of people. @@bree335 true. Only YG stan knows that this is a typical sad song of iKON. apology era to be exact.
You're right. iKON has a lot of melodious songs that explored their vocals. Most of the songs are b-tracks.

exactly! iKON really has no skip alongside day6 and pentagon for me. these 3 always serve.
Yes, it has bigbang vibes.
Yeah true it has more of a bigbang vibes rather than winner.
I definitely got an old school YG vibe from this comeback as well, but still didn't ever think it was out of character for iKON. As a YG stan tho it made me very happy (yet super sad because it's hella emotional and BI being gone still hits way too hard).
Yea i totally saw that too! A sad song but upbeat sound haha
I think it somehow give these melancholic sound winner use in their early years
I understand the budget complaints, especially cuz its been over a year since Dive but as an iKONIC I was very touched by all the symbolism in Why Why Why to past music videos. I have mixed feelings about them doing Kingdom but since it's what the members wanted I'll support them
Oh Apology is my favorite song 😍 I'm discovering IKon since a few weeks and I totally fell in love with that one.
For me the music video is ok I like the music video

To answer your question they had very melancholic and vocal focused songs before just not title tracks: Just Go, Don't Forget, Adore You, Perfect.....

i don't find it different
I love love love this song, I cannot believe we finally got the old school late 2000s/early 2010s YGE sound and I'm so happy it's iKON who brought it back. 👑 Rooting for them so hard.
There are similar sets to their previous music videos. People are speculating that this video is talking about B.I
I saw ikonic talking about this but I strongly doubt that.

YHS’s bias in iKON is B.I and Bobby (maybe June too) so apart from hanbin’s decision, it can be also YHS’s influence that rap line shine more in the past?
ahhh this could be true. Not only B.I, but we are also seeing the difference in YHS having less influence overall.
I agree with the part about YHS. He was very partial to the rappers in all of his groups. I think he just loved his groups to be more hip hop based.
no way. cause even though there are more lines for rappers, there vocals were equally heard.
Bobby is not the highlight anymore, because iKON itself is the highlight 😉. Thank you for this.
i’ve had this song on repeat for days, thanks PD, i love your reactions!
The way I interpret this MV is:
The whole story is a reminiscient of their past MVs (LS, Goodbye Road, I'm Okay) with bits of easter eggs per scene.
(sorry for the long post ✌🏻)
ohh dang i got goosebumps with this explanation it makes sense actually
Bobby said he wasn't in the first part for a reason, it is supposed to represent him returning back from is solo activities to his members as his first priority will always be his members. Bobby helped write and compose this song for his members to shine! He actually was there when they filmed the dance sequence without him, he was watching from the corner with pride for his members. So it was all intentional!
Aaaaaaw why am I crying to your comment 😭 this explanation makes the song way more beautiful 😭
This is why I love this group. They prioritize the group itself first. Just like Hanbin was supposed to have a solo but he first pushed iKON comeback.
when pd said "goddamn he's good looking" during donghyuk center AFFSJSKSHD REPRESENTS iKONics!!
We all love Bobby for his iconic hardcore act and voice but *we all love seeing his soft side too~*
I agree w many that this was a farewell to B.I and that they are moving forward.
Not typical yg budget but typical ikon budget. They had this kind of low budget mv since debut.

Ur right, but also mistaken pd... iKON's vocals were not really highlighted in their title tracks, and it's true that iKON is known for their strong rap-driven songs whether its slow or fast... iKon has one of the best discography in terms of ballads and soft songs in kpop which is surprising ar first but its 100% facts, starting from the masterpieces that Hug Me and Jerk are
it actually reminded me more of bigbang than winner but yes when it comes to the music video there are some parts where it is similar t their past mv's like goodbye road on the shipment smth and love scenario the and I'm ok. the song is really good, the lyrics are heartbreaking, the emotions and vocals of each one of them are really great!
6:03 if you listened to their previous albums ( b-sides ) you wouldn’t choose this comment cause they’ve actually done something like this😐
The set PD talking about is the one on "Killing me" its a little bit similar and also i think they inspired to their past mv's "love scenario" is also noticeable same goes to "goodbye road" that's why the song is talking about the past and they are trying to move on from it
“ikon’s killing me”
i see what u did there
I think this change is actually a really good thing.
OMG! I was waiting for your reaction! thank you PD! we love you!
iKON melow music is always my favourate.. IM OK and dont forget and adore u is kinda same like WHY WHY WHY vibe
I agree with ur opinion. Ths time VOCAL LINES SHINED THE MOST 😍 THEY DESERVE IT 💗
I was waiting for this! I actually clapped when you said Donghyuk is so handsome because I truly feel he's been shining both in Dive and Why Why Why and it is about time people recognize him!
Its like a tribute to all of their MVs tbh. Their own way of saying they are rebranding
What a song! I always sad when I heard this song

I love the vocals here tbh. I really like the maturity in ikon's musicality now. ❤️
The sets were the reminisce of their previous songs/MV . Its like a message of letting go the past.acceptance
iKON it's been ages.
*WHYWHYWHY is just a freaking BUILD UP for the most amazing songs ever coming to the future. we haven't reached the MAIN CHORUS yet.*
Yes, I think the same too..i feel that iKON is going to drop a BOP songs soon...
i love the song but i agree i wish bobby had more lines especially since it's only bobby in the group now...ikon has always had strong vocalists which have been mostly outshined by the rap line in terms of how the songs have been set up so im glad at least they get to shine
So true! I felt that too - that the vocalists were hidden gems hiding behind the rappers. I'm glad they are getting more spotlight now.
but if you check their songs, the rap line didn't have the most line. They only got the most lines in strong hip hop songs as there are only two rappers but 5 vocals....Double B are just being famous, one for his leadership and composing, one for his SMTM3

I loved the song so so much ❤️
I'm so excited for kingdom! I really can't wait to watch the show!
iKON Discography itself speaks, they can be VOCALKON or DANCEKON. And they are always open to new challenge to always improve.
I’m early for the first time
IKON KINGS
so proud of ikon, it’s been a long road but there’s so much more to come🖤
within the music video there are a lot of references to their older music videos it seems... it’s almost like a closure to it all
This song little bit different coz with that choreo and melody give us more kpop vibe.. before this almost iKON song had less kpop vibe.. even some of their MVs, Airplane, Apology and Im OK had no choreo at all. But this still iKON tho.. the beat is similar with Flower + Killing Me that blend so well with the melodious rap as always, their soothing voice and full emotion face show us this is iKON. Every time they had comeback they gave us something new.. and this is what I think about now.
As an iKONIC, i like how are they into Slow or Lowkey songs rather than upbeat or loud songs like Goodbye Road, Apology and other B-side songs.
iKON has done a lot of this type of songs. iKON's B-SIDES are so underrated that people are surprised they make slower songs like this.
i searched your channel and waited for this reactiob every day since the comeback HAHAH THANK YOU FOR THE REACTION!!!
Never regret STAN IKON they are amazing group the song so beautiful
I remember now from guides i watched that WINNER lost a lot of fans because of their long haitus' :(
@@LockTheLastOpenDoor1 I feel you. Thanks for stanning them anyway. x
And I believe them using previous sets to their older music videos and similar choreogrpahical moments are to help represent them "moving" saying that what happened with BI we'll forever be grateful for but it's time for us to keep moving on
Listen to their "Flower" and you will not saying "Why why why" is Winner song
I knew you would like the song because in your past reactions you mentioned that you kinda like songs that has sad lyrics to it, something like that. I think that was when you reacted to 'eight' by IU feat. Suga. Anyway, I'm glad you did like it. As for me, I don't listen to iKON before (except for Love Scenario) but this song made me dig in to their other music because it's not your typical mainstream song, it has depth and meaning to it. Knowing the things that iKON have gone through, i felt emotional and had goosebumps listening to it. In conclusion, this song is just so sad but beautiful.
Please check their other songs. This is so iKON
re-used sets, true though I think it's mainly for the symbolism or to relate it to their MVs. it's like a finale of the finale for B.I and the members.
@@momogogochew I remember hanbin said he was fed up with sad slow songs lol since dive we heard was not the original one, I always curious how was it sound like with him
@@hongipl9464 wow now i'm curious too. i still wished Ah Yeah or Flower was the title song of that album.
@@momogogochew ikr, I love ah yeah so much
You can see more of iKON's versatility thru their b-side tracks.
Yass!! IKON ❤ love love them
This is definitely typical ikon song with simple and repetitive song which makes us cant get over it.. waiting for their full comeback!! thank you PD!
MVs might look different and sorta less detailed comparing to their older ones (killing me, love scenario and I'm OK for example) but their talent has grown and they're growing as well as artists
I fully support them and believe in them and I hope things change for the best because B.I and the boys worked so hard and iKON deserves all the support and recognition in the world. Yes they received a huge blow but they're standing strong and are all very capable artists ♥️
Wow...waiting for this PD...thank you so much PD
God bless you always
the most honest reaction to WHYWHYWHY song
This song is addictive!!! It keeps you wanting to replay it because the chorus and prechorus are crazy i can't get over it
They have many melancholic songs like Perfect, Just Go, Hug Me, Don't Forget, Goodbye Road, Apology, Adore you, I'm OK, and many more. They're really good.
I've been checking out your channel like several times a day since the MV coming out. I'M SO HAPPY IT'S HERE! THANK YOU PD!
I've always loved iKON's melancholic songs.
I agreed instantly when he mentioned how good looking Donghyun is, he is becoming something else.
I personally love this song and songs like this wow
In love with the song ! ❤️
I’ve been streaming this song since the day it came out...I just can’t stop listening
6:00 They did before songs like that, goodbye road have a really similar melancholic feeling as why why why
I don't know if it's just me but every time I hear June's voice is just so satisfying
I love this song soo much. Because of this song im slowly getting into ikon.
I really like the song but i feel like they should've added the chorus one last time at the end to feel more complete (also in the beginning to me it sounded like a bigbang song rather than a winner song)
They ended the song on the bridge to emphasize the feeling of longing for someone/something, it was done on purpose and i think that's genius
@@stephaniejcy yeah i get that , it's just personal taste, I don't mind it ending like that but would've loved to hear the chorus once again bcs i like that part the most :)
@@todorovskat thats the point! To make you listen to it once more hahah
@@Gabbyotz it clearly worked 😁
Thank you for your reacting WHY WHY WHY . . .
A rumor says Jinan cried while recording this
And donghyuk too
Why looks different, because this song mean to be like that, indirect farewell for their brother BI, rap is wrote by Bobby, it's soft & perfectly match with the song
The absence of BI's style is very prevalent and it's painful but the song is still beautiful, idk if this is a goodbye to the old ikon sound but I just wish the all the best
