“YG suppressing BI” yesss! He recently had a video fan meeting and one fan said “in 2017 I asked you do what evert you want and hanbin said he can’t because he needs to answer to higher-ups, can you do now?” And BI said now he can do 100% or even 200%!!
the concept of the mv was entirely hanbin's idea. he said it in his commentary that he wanted the mv to seem like a film rather than a music video and you're also right about the song being like a "healing process" to anyone. hanbin also said it in an article that he wanted people to find comfort in his songs even if the lyrics are kind of sad. the entire album is a masterpiece. please do a listening party or review on his album! i was very delighted that you reacted to his debut mv. ive been waiting for this thank you so much!
i mean for someone who doesn't know him or his story and what he went through, it would definitely be impossible to understand exactly what he's talking about. they'd just know he's talking about painful goodbyes. but the rest of us know he's talking about the way his life basically crumbled when he had to leave his group and company (and even the public eye) for so long, based on completely false accusations. and the beach and every mention of water connects to the story because, well, he's saying the ocean represents the tears he shed. "at the end of my sleeves there's a beach, cause i wiped out the water flowing on both cheeks"
@@tiffanykim2773 that's so nice!! well basically when he was in yg ent. as the leader of the group ikon he was accused of smoking weed (he didn't) and his company kicked him out just like that regardless of what the investigation said. his career was over super quickly. then he was basically out of the public eye for almost two years. i remember how much his members suffered back then, but we could hear nothing from hanbin. if i don't remember wrong this is how it all happened
@@lilgfbin it was hanbin who personally admitted the accusations through his personal ig. I guess yhs is trying to defend him and threatened han so hee to change her statements
The A&R head also posted in her IG that BI is a calm & quiet guy but his eyes sparkle when he talks abt music n he makes the ppl working ard him have dreams. Thats why she left YG to work for BI. His songs represent his personal emotions, dreams n thoughts, i think thats why they touched alot of ppl
"you could see how much of love scenario was his" damn, it made me tear up 😭🖤 b.i almost gave everything for iKON his songs, his arts and ideas and i'm so happy hanbin gets to showcase it finally with his own will and his own shoes 😭💖🔥
Can you link me the video??🥺I m a new fan....I m discovering him and absolutely in love with him and his voice and his music!ahhh I m so late to this but I m glad I found a gem!
At 22 yrs old, he won the Songwriter of the Year award. The ONLY idol to do that. They were also awarded the Producer of the Year award. The ONLY group among the big producers to won that award. Love Scenario was not only a mega hit among the fandom but was MEGA-LOVED by the general public. Kids and adults knows the song. I am sooo happy that he found IOK company who is soooo supportive of him and let him maximize his talent. He is such a very talented guy and I believe that he will go a long long way.
When you said B.I's song was like a modern day where you visit a gallery and you cry because it speaks to you I totally felt that knowing that he portrays a lot of emotions thru his songs sometimes his songs have happy beat but then when you read the lyrics it always makes you realize that Oh I guess I'm not the only one who experiences these kind of things or stuff like that he always makes a song that people can totally relate to but not in a way it can make them sadder
I still get mad and sad everytime I remember how B.I was not been able to release a solo album during his time in ikon. He always think of the group first, so rather than releasing his own solo album, he always pushed for his group even tho the fans wanted him to release his own album. Love Scenario was supposed to be his solo song, yang hyun suk rejected it but since he has a good feeling about the song, he wanted his group to sing it so he sent it again to yg. And it became a mega hit song, established ikon's career. And you are right about B.I's influence in the songs of ikon that is because he wrote, composed and produced almost 99% of ikon's songs even after he was out of the group. All of ikon's albums was solely produced by him. The last mini album of ikon released in 2020 got 5 songs and 4 songs are B.I's and that's almost a year after he "left" the group. That speaks volume. And now I am just happy that he is back. Seeing he's the executive producer of this album, he's very much involved in the production process. It was his idea to have a movie-like themed mv and his latest contents are almost like films (live film, performance film and track films). He's been releasing contents after contents. He and his team have no expectations or whatsoever. They actually just printed 35K albums for the first week. And now his album hanteo sales is around 66k-67k and shipments are delayed, online sites posting sold out because B.I and his team didn't expect his album to sell. But despite that they prepared lots of high quality contents for fans. The cinematography of those films are gorgeous. You can see the amount of efforts of his team, the quality of his free contents are great. His album is getting amazing reviews even from nonfans. The physical album got two versions and both are gorgeous. You can really tell that they really spent fortune for this album/solo debut without expecting anything. The album and the contents are well-thought out, well-planned and well-made. He just wanted his fans, the people who waited for him, to have these amazing contents and album. I am just so proud of him 😭
I got teary-eyed reading this. Wow what an amazing human being and artist! I wish him all the success that he deserves after what he had been through. I am so glad he's back!
I HAVE SAID THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, KIM HANBIN IS A GENIUS AND WE'RE SO SO BLESSED TO HAVE HIM WITH US, RELEASING SUCH AMAZING STUFF THANK YOU HANBIN FOR MAKING MUSIC WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!
B.I is listed as the sole producer of all iKON music (extremely invested in the music himself) He loves to talk and used to share his ideas and processes with fans non stop in Vlive+. YG listed as executive producer (hanbin said YG had to approve the songs for release idk in what capacity tho). Here B.I is listed as executive producer so I am sure he was all over it 100% it's mostly all his idea.
oh yeah, YG wanted to trash love scenario and wanted them to comeback with goodbye road right after bling bling, but hanbin fought hard for love scenario
and also hanbin said that illa illa was his first song he wrote from his album. so there are some thing that can be improved but he think that when someone truely tell their emotions to others, that would not be perfect so he let it release like this.
people already praise hanbin for his songrwiting but i think it's still not enough..he's just crazy talented for his age and deserves ten times more recognition
BI talked about how he very specifically wanted this music video to be able to stand alone as a film in the sense that, if you took away the lip sync portions, the emotions and visual journey of the song would still be apparent. The Mother team and Woogie Kim did an AMAZING job realizing this and I absolutely agree with everything you said! I also come from a filmmaking background and this music video was just,,,,, Gorgeous. So glad you could check it out! ^u^ The rest of the album is just as much of a masterpiece as the title track - definitely worth a listen! :)
i think the credits are also impactful for the fans that really waited for him, seeing him on an studio again and his name aparing it just pull your heartstrings
Illa illa feels like such a hopeful song, like he’s saying yes, I went through hell but now I’m here and I’m going to be happy, I’m going to enjoy the freedom I now have and I’m going to make amazing music for me and for anyone that’s listening. I miss him in ikon but looking at him now and how he’s being able to truly express himself artistically and do what he wants makes me so happy. Someone that loves music as much as he does and with his talent will always deliver incredible pieces of art when given freedom.
I think not only YG who supress BI's talent, he himself tries to supress his talent so as not to outshine the other iKON members. Even when he suppress it ppl still say he is selfish n dont give them enough lines n stuff, but he is just too good that he just naturally pops out. Its quite obvious after his solo debut he was holding off alot n there might be more that we havent seen
tbh i am very happy to see him out of the group and has his own company to do things he wants and don’t have to receive hate comments from members’ stans
Exactly and he didn't even have much lines himelf. he always thought about making the songs perfect, and not who would have more lines or not. he used to give to the members who would do it best, and that's why those songs were so perfect. He really had the vision
He fought for his brothers. He is really selfless which is why I love him and I will never stop supporting him and iKon. To me he will always be in iKon. The sacrifices he made for the group is unmeasurable and I know deep in my heart he only hopes the best for them which is why I think he left everything to avoid greatly affecting them. In the end I hope he they will all be successful ❤️
He didn't suppress anything for iKON. He pulled some of them up to match him (excl Junhoe and Bobby who can keep up with him) that's why the members worked so hard to follow him. You think you are praising him but you actually undermining his leadership if you think he couldn't lead the members to keep up with him and instead he needed to slow down for his ex members
That’s the thing about B.I’s philosophy in music . He doesn’t put a CLEAR message in his songs that are more or less Positive . He said it himself in a Show . He lets the listeners interpret themselves .
B.I literally wrote every single ikon song. ikon’s discography was his. sure, Bobby’s name was in the credits for nearly all the songs as well, but I’m pretty sure he just wrote his rap lyrics for his part. his name was only in lyrics and never in the “composed by.”
This for me this meant his official return after everything. It first surreal when he started popping back on social media and to say I got emotional is an understatement. And the entire album is a masterpiece, a dark but emotional rollercoaster but a masterpiece none the less. He really is an amazing, talented child and YG will regret letting him go ( yes I'm still salty but he did nothing wrong and they let him go without investigating 🙄) but yah. He is one of a kind and his album is really a reflection of his emotions which I find extremely beautiful He has been through so much and he deserves happiness and I hope he is feeling at least somewhat better. I promised I would be there for him after the situation happened and I'll stand by that. He deserves the world
fun fact love scenario was supposed to be hanbin's solo but he gave it to the group, the song was initially rejected by yg but hanbin continued to push it bc he had full trust in it until it got accepted, thanks to that we got not only ikon's best album (fully produced by b.i) but also their biggest hit, he sacrificed so much for the group which is why i'm so happy to see him finally go above and beyond for himself, he deserves the best
The entire album WATERFALL is his story through the 2 years of hiatus he went through. The first song of the album is called WATERFALL "I'm a waterfall dancing waterfall when i fall i start at the same time" Hanbin said he wanted to connect the meaning of WATERFALL with illa illa MV, so we know rivers are connected to the ocean so he's basically saying he fell in a WATERFALL and all the process and pain he went through was like swimming until reaching a beach where he could rest but also in illa illa lyrics he says he cried so much that his tears created a beach. Check out his album, it's really painful but you can relate to a lot of his lyrics and find comfort with his songs💗
It's funny how I didn't cry when I watched the MV but cried watching this reaction. I'm so grateful that people acknowledge B.I and all the hard work and emotions he has put into his album.
the way you went menbung. that's all of us haha. we all know how talented he is but he still amazes us every single time. I have to agree how YG actually crippled his potential like you said him not being able to showcase what he's actually capable of. if you followed him from the win and mix and match days, his team ALWAYS win because of how great he is as a leader and producer. People also probably think bobby overshadows him in terms of rap and think he's not that great of a rapper.. I mean he may not be the greatest but his versatility takes the cake. He can also dances so well. many don't know he actually lead them in the practice room. he dances the best but somewhat along the way stepped down from the lime light as the main dancer and just being highlighted as the "song writer/producer". he's just so well rounded. he can do anything. now that he's a full solo artist and being his own boss with a company that backs him up pushing his potential, theres so much we can look forward to. I think he is one of the best if not the best artist the music industry will ever have. They need him. also, the way you only realized now how much of an influence he has in iKON. that's how much he's been suppressed by the company. he is basically the sound of iKON.i mean he wrote and produced the songs 99.9% of it. lol. and I am pretty sure the executive producer isn't just a title when its hanbin. he most likely involved in the whole production. from how everybody he worked with being so personal and emotional when it comes to him, you just know how hard this kid works and how great of a person he is.
This is the reason why recent releases of iKON isn't their sound and it's hard to chart them. Because Hanbin created the sound unique to them, the mid tempo, instrumentals, catchy songs without drop noise beats but pure music
Losing Hanbin ripped the soul out of iKON...I still love the 6 but this just proves that iKON's sound was BI's directive. So I don't think he was suppressed in YG as much as we think. He was limited by having to write for a group, though. As a rapper he is underrated because of his higher tone, but he flows like a beast and his pronunciation is crystal clear.
@@maddiesiegmund5623 what I meant by suppressed was only people who looked into it knows he’s the creator of the sound. Maybe suppressed isn’t the right word .. I just think he didn’t get to shine as much as he deserves to. Maybe I’m biased I want him to get more attention. Heh. Also he can’t be in the spotlight without being shit on so eventually i feel like he’s holding himself back. And now seeing so many comments saying they didn’t know he can dance this well he must have been practicing really hard the past two years and what not but we all know he has always been this good. Totally agree on his rap skills being so underrated tho. I personally really love his rap style and he could become a great featuring artist. He fits all genre with that versatility. As for iKON, I genuinely hope they don’t go into the “teddy” music direction nor the typical kpop group formula😞 why why why was pretty good actually I love it.
It was his intention that it was for everyone going through a rough time and that you can get up again. You can feel better again. You can rebuild again. The music video did such a great job showing even just B.I's running changing from aggressively fearfully running to running happily without being specific about what it was for him personally and still having the emotional impact when it switches. A stunning song and Mother is absolutely incredible. Hanbin is the best even at his worst, he works with Mother who is the best even at his worst. Just talent wins with him.
My sister also said the same thing when she was listening to illa illa, she was like "oh yes, Hanbin was iKON's song writer and producer". I mean, it is purely biased to tell how much this song is so beautiful, but I don't think it is biased because with everything, from producing to songwriting and to filming, it was just so beautifully made, I mean it wasn't just me who told how much this one is a masterpiece and made me buy the album without thinking twice. I mean, B.I was like a music reset, and I don't know much about the language but upon hearing the music, it just something that will touch you and suddenly you'll have haebyeon in your eyes. I mean, he did not win song writer of the year for nothing because he was really a talented guy that will make you dance even with sad lyrics, his music is just so comforting.
I didn't even know B.I but after listening to this song and Waterfall, I'm a fan. I hope whatever's happening with his drug charges gets cleared up, but whatever happens, I'll continue to support him.
He was announced innocent early 2020. I hope the 2016 incident won’t be a topic again. Similar to Park Bom case, it happened ages ago but people having fun to bring it up once in awhile for clout or whatever boredome they have.
@@WigglieMeoZ This is what I was referring to: www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/art/2021/06/398_310214.html And this too: mb.com.ph/2021/06/08/korean-rapper-b-is-agency-releases-statement-about-his-indictment-on-drug-charges/ He seems to still be caught up in that topic again
@@lucasbieber9051 his trial will be in July. I hope it would be the last time it came up as a topic. Yeah, I’ll support him too. Since it’s a matter about weed, it is legal where I live. So to me, it’s not a big deal even if he found guilty(I doubt it though). Also, Korean loves American actor/actress who has history of substance abuse. If they can accept foreigner actor/actress be better with their second chance, I don’t see why they can’t give their own people a second chance as well.
@@lucasbieber9051 Also, the news about his comeback has been around long before May 28th but articles make it seems as if he rushed his albums released because of the news and because he is scared of the charge. Kinda like “the last move before judgement day” 🙄. I followed him since pre-debut, iKON days, SoundCloud days, if it comes to the worst, we’ll go back to SoundCloud and digital. 🤷♀️
I feel like for b.i his long time as a trainee at yg, being pushed to compose and direct his group, he developed an eye for detail and a perfectionism. Now seeing his solo debut and comeback into the public eye you can tell just how skilled he is. Everything from the roll out of his EP to his collab song to waterfall and finally to his official comeback, hanbin really did an amazing job. (Unpopular opinion): I feel like now seeing ikon and b.i's work separately you can really see where hanbins eye shaped ikons image and style. Now with him gone it seems ikon has lost some of the impact and memorability. However that is not to say they can't develop and grow, they definately will (i support both ikon and hanbin 100%) but with the recent kingdom performances though I really enjoyed them. TBH they lacked something I think hanbin put into the group and the performances didn't hit the same. If you've followed ikon you might get what I mean or maybe it's just me but hanbins agressive perfectionism made ikon's striking style. Either way I'm very happy to see the positive reception from everyone and cant wait to see him grow as an artist!
Very true coz I watch thier 2 survival shows before they became ikon and he really is competitive if they beat him once of course B.i won't give them another chance to beat him twice....I think his mentality and competitiveness its hard to beat.....and he really squeeze every members to give their 200% and I thought that's what lacking about Bobby coz he maybe badass to see but his not that leader material coz his too soft he don't want to be hard to other people not like B.i he listens but didn't sugar coat when your messing up...
@@aminahonra3228 I think it’s cool how both ikon and BI are on this interesting musical journey. Ikon without BI hits hard, but with the kingdom episodes, I was literally blown away at how well they were doing without BI, their leader and producer. I don’t know many groups that have lost a leader/producer and continue to make impressive performances and music. BI is such an incredible artist and producer. His album really is personal and I’m looking forward to how he grows as a single artist. I hope one day we can see OT7 ikon again one day, but for now, definitely proud and happy for both ikon and BI.
I thought I was the only one who felt this. I watched iKON live when they were 7 and watched all their performamces. Then watched iKON without Hanbin...and I have to say this. I felt sad. Coz I can't see the unique colour that characterized iKON since their debut. The guys are so talented , but I don't know. Something's missing. Maybe, just maybe, coz the guys all have different colours and Hanbin was the glue who put them all together to create a beautiful rainbow, and now that he's gone, the glue is not there anymore. Hanbin knows his members well, their weaknesses and strength. I hope iKON can find their new colour from here on
when he said that "this is his favorite music video" which he rarely say he literally mean it. Like hello? the freedom B.I has now, he can do whatever he wants on his music and that's what makes it the best of all. His album is a masterpiece.
Uhm... YG didn't "let" him go. It was a scandal and was a damaging year for YGE... B.I still contacts YG producers and even had YG dancers in his performance etc. so I think they are on good terms probably cuz Hanbin left on his own accord cuz he is a sensibly sweet man who thought of his other members and didn't want the issue to affect iKON more
@@IloveJ2AChungHua cannot be me when they had to remove his existence from literally everywhere. Not crediting him in his songs and all that. I know business is business but there’s always a better way to everything so I don’t think we should normalise that. Instead we should normalise and applaud on how his current company stood by him releasing statements like a human being not a copy and paste robot. Anyways I guess everything turns out it’s for a better reason. I don’t think we would ever have this quality and quantity of content if he’s still in YG so 🥰
@mariam navaid not talking about this. But his other songs that they took without crediting him. We eventually found out and trended worldwide. The company had to release an article about it and then credit him after. If hanbin hadn’t shown us the songs in 2017 we wouldn’t even know.
@mariam navaid not the dive only but also the other artist (i don't know his name but he was an older kpop idol) Fans of BI demanded credit of that song because we have heard it on one of his vlive (it was actually played as background song during his live) And we were thankful that some fans recorded that live so we got proof that it was his. So yeah he was basically treated like a Voldemort Fans around the globe demanded crediting him. It was a very difficult time and that trash company made it worse😭
@@IloveJ2AChungHua YG basically throw him under the bus at the same time trying to use him as escape goat as YHS wad also involved in a bigger issue with Seungri and the club. Also producers and dancers in YG are not bound with exclusive contracts as they can work with other artists outside the company. Notice that Hanbin "hired" the two producers he mostly has worked with & one of them saying he was blessed working with the best (aka BI). Also with Millenium, he is his friend. No issues about that. You see, YG did him dirty and even tried to steal credits from him when giving his song (which thankfully BI made us listen to before) to another senior.
The credits part is SO good it feels like after watching a movie that is so SO so good and you're just like "ah that is such a good movie" while the credits rolling
I suggest you watch Climax of iKON and see B.I rap in that song. You'll somehow know more of his journey then listen to Be I, then midnight blue album before listening to waterfall
I love Kpop but these days I rarely get to listen to a song which I automatically fall in love with. The last one being Psycho but this song really hit a chord with me. The moment he started singing the first line, I was hooked. And the lyrics man, damn. Definitely my song of the year!
i think bi doesn't standout in the group because he doesn't have a proper solo debut in yg... i also think bi focuses more on his members rather than himself... He always do his best for the group and sometimes forget about himself🤧
what I loved about this song was precisely this subjectivity, there is no need for explanations or stories, it is personal for both those who listen and for the b.i itself and this is so beautiful that it chills. it's really art
I'm Wenee (Wonho stan) I'm not rly into Hanbin but I'm crying rn so bad, he rly deserve the world, he is so talented and his voice is so magical and calming idk I think I need to listen more of his music.
Pls check out his whole album, its a masterpiece. I feel like BI is really amazing cuz in korea its almost like a taboo to talk abt depression n stuff but he openly wrapped his feelings, which r abt mental struggles, into these great songs. I really respect BI
B.I indeed is amazing but the topic he's opening up on in his album is not taboo, but rather personal. mental health awareness is big nowadays, Korea is of no exception.
@@dongjigeum5051 maybe it's getting better but Korea still is sending a person contemplating/taking drugs (harming themselves) into prison before recommending therapy and that is true to this day. Hope mental health is given better understanding.
@@dongjigeum5051 i think mental health awareness might be big but not many idols/artist dare to openly talk abt it. Thats why so many idols commit suicide without anyone knowing they r depressed. But BI chose to comeback n bravely open up abt this
Thank you for appreciating his music...He's the executive producer for this album so he's definitely in control in everything, and even with iKON albums before, you can see his name on their album as their main producer..We already know he's a genius, but we still get surprise everytime Hanbin released his songs..
one, it's always been hanbin's favorite thing to do, masking a sad song with a playful melody. he said it's sadder that way. also when you say no core story, yeah he said this is the first song that he wrote for this album. when he reviewed the song he felt the messaging is not completely coherent and structured right but he decided to keep it that way because he felt it's more honest that way. when someone pours their heart out, more likely it won't be very coherent. so you're correct on that. about the sandcastle. after what he's been through he realized how fragile everything is. career, fame. it could be taken for him any time but he decided fuck it i'll build it again. he grew up a lot.
That was B.I's idea that the MV should be like a movie.. he wanted it to be like a movie from the beginning..he conveyed his idea to the director and the PD did his amazing job as you can see. And thank you for reacting BI MV, been waiting for your reaction..now that i have seen your reaction, its confirmed that he did a way way way more amazing job in this song and whole MV. His message has been conveyed and reached to many..and he set the bar too high..epic comeback and a masterpiece by genius himself. Thank you for yours words..you spoke my kind right there..he created an art that should be kept in a museum gallery..to cherish forever..
B.I did give the idea of the mv to be like a film to the director. He said he shares & discuss a lot with Woogie Kim that they had becomes close & he said the director is seen to be adore him 🥺 Well we all can see it from how the director keep on promoting Hanbin in his ig.. Anyway B.I really an artist that speak through his music & convey it really well that it touch the listener heart.. This is his story through the 2 years hiatus, the depression & then healing up & coming back up again happy to built his career back.. The mv did convey the progression of that all & it's so beautifully done.. B.I said The mv start in the ocean as it is a continuation from Waterfall intro film that end at the ocean. The song is so good & you also can hear his song Re-Birth in this track as he put the sample in it but it goes so well. He is a genius that full of surprises & way of thinking is out of the box. A real artist.
I wasn't even an ID when i first watched illa illa but it still managed to put me on the verge of tears...i can't even begin to imagine what all of the fans who have waited for him felt like...this is truly a masterpiece
No matter how painful it is...I think Hanbin leaving YG and iKON has many pros. Now, he can finally focus on himself. Back then, since the beginning in WIN he has always focused on how to make his members shine, sometimes at his own expenses. Until that fateful day of June, he has always prioritized the group, given himself more pressure and burden. All his works were mostly focused on iKON. But now, he can showcase his talent without fear. Now, we have the opportunity to witness the depth of his talent. Coz just listen to this album. Waterfall is a materpiece and even non fans were impressed that they had to buy the album. Hanbin is a gem and with IOK being the best partner he could ever work with, he is surely up to great things.
I think you would really love the whole album. I would love to see your reaction! B.I. is a really talented songwriter and producer. I already knew that since almost 100% of iKON's discography was done by him, but he still managed to surprise me with his album. The way he writes is incredibly beautiful.
I mean I know he is supremely talented, but the whole album still cought me sooo off guard....I never bought an album this fast in my life! A masterpiece in concept and execution.
This song is therapeutic to me,it's like you go through this catharsis while listening to it. Whether you know his story or not, it really just hits hard My younger sister was listening to this on my phone (mind you that she doesn't know B.I,understand anything or even saw the video) and suddenly said :" I feel like I'm at the beach, by the ocean" and then she smiled, and that really startled me yet warmed my heart because not all music can get to you like that and make you visualize things and go through this trip B.I is truly one of a kind and I'm so happy that he got back up and is now free to express himself better and do his thing ^^ I might still be a bit sensetive about him having to leave iKON , but It warms my heart that he's at least free from YG and is healing, so as iKON who stayed strong and I support both him and the boys and I love them all so much he's gonna come back even stronger!
The earnestness in his voice ......that's what captured my heart....and I became a fan....I didn't know him ata ll before, only live scenario......and thus just touched me so much I m a fan now.thats it. I am a fan.
his "scandal" was the one that made me the maddest in the last few years. put under immense pressure, no support, and then thrown under the bus for an (admittedly ill-informed) attempt to get some relief. I cant wait to see what the next few years will hold for him, definitely one of the artists to look out for
I also am not a fan of Ikon, however I did know of them when B.I was in the group and I always noticed just how skilled he was, especially when Love Scenario came out. This song actually made me sob when I watched it and read the lyrics because of how relatable it was, and you are totally right, it was cause it was vague enough to the point where a lot of people can resonate with it. I was totally trying to hold in my tears but when it got to the scene of him laying down in what looked like a field of flowers, and his tears are getting pulled up from his eyes, I fucking lost it lmao. ;_;
i feel emotional and thankful every time seeing the end credits of a movie, like i can somehow witness the hard work of the whole crew, this mv gives me that vibe too, it really shows the greatest respect to every single person who took part in this film making. i would probably give it a 15/10.
This maybe the best reaction I've ever watched. Thank you for reacting to Hanbin's MV. Much Appreciated! Knowing him is the best thing ever. His music is something personal to me cos i can relate to every song he makes. I love it every time people appreciate his lyrics/ songwriting skills, it means a lot. That's for the youngest SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR ! Again, thank you.
When I first watch this, I was just like "wow, this is good" but after getting to know iKON in a day, I tear up. This is now my favorite song and BI is now my ultimate soloist.
I'm so proud of him and I feel like only fans who've been supporting him for a few years will only truly understand this song and his album! This was so emotional for me. I had goosebumps when the name Hanbin Kim started popping up on the screen, One of my favourite tracks ever! This was such a sad and heartbreaking journey but the end of the song felt like a celebration to start of a new journey for our Hanbin.
Happy for B.i and proud to know that this whole concept is his Idea, true enough PD he said that he wants it to looks like a movie instead of a typical Music video...
My history with Hanbin: 1. When WINNER debuted with ‘Empty’ I fell in love with the song in 2 seconds. Then iKON debuted and I didn’t like their title tracks at all… Then I read somewhere that iKON’s leader, B.I, is the one who wrote WINNER’s Empty. WOW. My mind was blown. Since then I follow his work and even though I’m still not an iKONic (I do like their more recent music), and I am a big fan of many other self producing groups and individuals, B.I stands above them all. I’m no expert so of course this is all my uneducated opinion but… so many other idols are presented and celebrated as geniuses when for me, B.I is the top k-pop producer. Not out of the idol producers, but out of all producers. Thank you PD for explaining to us how amazing the MV is.
EVERYTIME the credits scene played i get so emotional. it gives that hanbin REALLY comeback this year and ALL waiting these 2 years are finally worth it ^^
I'm using this song as my phone call ringtone. Every time when a call comes in, i don't feel like picking it up right away 'cause i want to listen to the song longer and enjoy it.. 😭
Im using the piano version of this song as my alarm clock cause i wanna wake up with smile and new hope everyday😊 N rebirth piano version as my ringtone, n when it rings, it will remind me of hanbin and fellow IDs😊
I had to come back to rewatch this to make this comment. I came upon this by chance after watching your TXT Lovesong reaction and I am so glad I watched through it even though I had no idea who B.I was. I have to thank you for introducing this song to me. I was intrigued by the song at first but have fallen hard for it. From there, I found the Waterfall album. From then, I found Kim Hanbin and discovered an amazing man on an amazing journey. He is an exceptional lyricist, songwriter, producer, artist and an amazing human. I have SO much respect and love for him especially after I researched about everything he’s been through. Bottom line though, his music is so refreshing and different. I’m not completely into k-pop aside from BTS but I am completely into deep and meaningful lyrics and Kim Hanbin excites me in that way. I am beyond excited for Cosmos and for his future. I am ready for every masterpiece he’s gonna release. Illa Illa and this mv truly the highlights of 2021 for me. Once again, thank you for introducing him to my life 💙
What I took from the song is that he’s so used to being hurt, but he’s ready to be happy and if he could do it all over again he would because it was worth it ☺️
Definitely love "illa illa" and this reaction. You're right about saying that how much influence B.I has in iKon music and production. I love iKon so much, but they feels so different now, it's great they're all talented they have great performance naturally bu still something is weirdly not missing very into the core. You should check *Waterfall* MV. That one is also a masterpiece.
i watched this reaction exactly a week ago and keep coming back bc i want to keep reliving the feeling i had hearing that song for the first time. such an intensely beautiful MV and song.
Heard it once on Spotify randomly, and the beat and rythem, legit had no idea what the song meant, and got me hooked... its smooth and got me feeling the vibe. No joke it's a great song... now looking deeper into the lyrics! It's real good.
Forgot to thank you PD for your insight into the song and into B.I Stay safe and sound. We all have to watch the day when B.I and his music becomes a staple in our lives.
This whole album is art and a masterpiece and one of the most personal albums ever produced in kpop. Every single song is so deep and emotional and you can tell he wrote it from his whole heart and soul. I have never felt so personally involved in an album before. I know he doesnt even know I exist but yet I feel like this was written just for me.
for people can't speak Korean like me, to just listen to the songs is a thing, while to look into his lyrics is another. it's like listen to 12 tracks and get 24 experiences, and they all are amazing.
his album is like his personal diary...
wow I'm just glad he makes it public for us

as expected from SWOTY B.I
He is so poetic and I love it
“YG suppressing BI” yesss! He recently had a video fan meeting and one fan said “in 2017 I asked you do what evert you want and hanbin said he can’t because he needs to answer to higher-ups, can you do now?” And BI said now he can do 100% or even 200%!!
this makes me so freaking happy, thank you for sharing 😭🙏
Yassss you need to watch it... he was so happy saying that... you can tell it was so genuine.... freedom for an artist..
so i guess b.i needs to ask kim hanbin every time if b.i wants a new project. since his the higher up in 131 label
Remember when he literally confused why bling-bling and bday release together😂
this was like peak of happiness for me recently
the concept of the mv was entirely hanbin's idea. he said it in his commentary that he wanted the mv to seem like a film rather than a music video and you're also right about the song being like a "healing process" to anyone. hanbin also said it in an article that he wanted people to find comfort in his songs even if the lyrics are kind of sad. the entire album is a masterpiece. please do a listening party or review on his album! i was very delighted that you reacted to his debut mv. ive been waiting for this thank you so much!
Indeed it is a film because you cannot see any choreography which is basically common on music video nowadays
Louder!! Well this is our genius producer song writer kim hanbin with a brilliant idea...
Why does the ending of the credit say Mother? Is it like hanbin saying this song is for his mother?
@@zoookoo it credits Mother, the video production group that shot the mv

i mean for someone who doesn't know him or his story and what he went through, it would definitely be impossible to understand exactly what he's talking about. they'd just know he's talking about painful goodbyes. but the rest of us know he's talking about the way his life basically crumbled when he had to leave his group and company (and even the public eye) for so long, based on completely false accusations. and the beach and every mention of water connects to the story because, well, he's saying the ocean represents the tears he shed. "at the end of my sleeves there's a beach, cause i wiped out the water flowing on both cheeks"
That's me I don't fully know his story but somehow I'm learning through his music.

PLEASE give the whole album a listen if you can like LITERALLY HIT ME SO HARD I CRIED SOO MUCH AND I DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND KOREAN
He'll do a listening party to it on patreon on Friday I think
remember me hits me really hard. 💔
He has been so generous to us. Every single thing on his channel is so creative, original, so well made budget wise but he gave it all as gifts.

Literally.
I HAVE SAID THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, KIM HANBIN IS A GENIUS AND WE'RE SO SO BLESSED TO HAVE HIM WITH US, RELEASING SUCH AMAZING STUFF
THANK YOU HANBIN FOR MAKING MUSIC WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!
Thats really caught my attention, how he ia so detailed about each of his songs *cry
people already praise hanbin for his songrwiting but i think it's still not enough..he's just crazy talented for his age and deserves ten times more recognition
Million times more recognition and apreciation
Yes i agree with you
Louderrrrr
period..!
Yes, I thought the same. The credits are so meaningful for us 💛
B.I’s artistry is out of this world
Illa illa feels like such a hopeful song, like he’s saying yes, I went through hell but now I’m here and I’m going to be happy, I’m going to enjoy the freedom I now have and I’m going to make amazing music for me and for anyone that’s listening.
I miss him in ikon but looking at him now and how he’s being able to truly express himself artistically and do what he wants makes me so happy. Someone that loves music as much as he does and with his talent will always deliver incredible pieces of art when given freedom.
❤❤❤
I think not only YG who supress BI's talent, he himself tries to supress his talent so as not to outshine the other iKON members. Even when he suppress it ppl still say he is selfish n dont give them enough lines n stuff, but he is just too good that he just naturally pops out. Its quite obvious after his solo debut he was holding off alot n there might be more that we havent seen
I agree bestie
tbh i am very happy to see him out of the group and has his own company to do things he wants and don’t have to receive hate comments from members’ stans
He is one of a kind and his album is really a reflection of his emotions which I find extremely beautiful
He has been through so much and he deserves happiness and I hope he is feeling at least somewhat better. I promised I would be there for him after the situation happened and I'll stand by that. He deserves the world
I'm still bitter about it to. You ain't alone. He deserves this though. At least he's free from YG and can shine and be appreciated just for himself
fun fact love scenario was supposed to be hanbin's solo but he gave it to the group, the song was initially rejected by yg but hanbin continued to push it bc he had full trust in it until it got accepted, thanks to that we got not only ikon's best album (fully produced by b.i) but also their biggest hit, he sacrificed so much for the group which is why i'm so happy to see him finally go above and beyond for himself, he deserves the best
Y'all have no idea how much I love HanBin. This dude is so musically gifted and this is a fuckin perfect way to announce that he's back!
It's funny how I didn't cry when I watched the MV but cried watching this reaction. I'm so grateful that people acknowledge B.I and all the hard work and emotions he has put into his album.
His album is the best “mood” album of the year
the way you went menbung. that's all of us haha. we all know how talented he is but he still amazes us every single time.
Louder 🔥🔥🔥 Thats our boy 🥰🥰🥰
This is the reason why recent releases of iKON isn't their sound and it's hard to chart them. Because Hanbin created the sound unique to them, the mid tempo, instrumentals, catchy songs without drop noise beats but pure music
Losing Hanbin ripped the soul out of iKON...I still love the 6 but this just proves that iKON's sound was BI's directive. So I don't think he was suppressed in YG as much as we think. He was limited by having to write for a group, though. As a rapper he is underrated because of his higher tone, but he flows like a beast and his pronunciation is crystal clear.
@@parkparkcouple9057 hate to admit it but I do agree on this.😿
@@maddiesiegmund5623 what I meant by suppressed was only people who looked into it knows he’s the creator of the sound.
B.I mentioned in his live countdown that he wants the mv to be like a film.

(Unpopular opinion):
I feel like now seeing ikon and b.i's work separately you can really see where hanbins eye shaped ikons image and style.
I agree with every word u say.
I hope iKON can find their new colour from here on
totally agree!
when he said that "this is his favorite music video" which he rarely say he literally mean it. Like hello? the freedom B.I has now, he can do whatever he wants on his music and that's what makes it the best of all. His album is a masterpiece.
BI is one of THE best song writers/producers of this generation. YG lost so much when they let him go.

I suggest you watch Climax of iKON and see B.I rap in that song. You'll somehow know more of his journey then listen to Be I, then midnight blue album before listening to waterfall
Idk if I am being biased or what, but his Waterfall album is worth to check out
I love Kpop but these days I rarely get to listen to a song which I automatically fall in love with. The last one being Psycho but this song really hit a chord with me. The moment he started singing the first line, I was hooked. And the lyrics man, damn. Definitely my song of the year!
I did cry watching this. The album as a whole is absolutely amazing. He's easily one of the greatest artists and still came back better than ever.
i think bi doesn't standout in the group because he doesn't have a proper solo debut in yg... i also think bi focuses more on his members rather than himself... He always do his best for the group and sometimes forget about himself🤧
yes, he prioritize the group first and delay his solo
Exactly ! I agree
what I loved about this song was precisely this subjectivity, there is no need for explanations or stories, it is personal for both those who listen and for the b.i itself and this is so beautiful that it chills. it's really art
I am so happy for B.I he deserves all the recognition🥺
I'm Wenee (Wonho stan) I'm not rly into Hanbin but I'm crying rn so bad, he rly deserve the world, he is so talented and his voice is so magical and calming idk I think I need to listen more of his music.
Glad that his album sales are doing good. He must've spent a fortune for this album. He's putting out a lot of content.
@@dongjigeum5051 i don't think korea is that open to real mental health talk tho. As it still seemed as weak. And we lost a lot of idols like that..
This album has become one of my favorites of the year.
B.I IS A GENIUS. HE IS A MASTERPIECE.
one, it's always been hanbin's favorite thing to do, masking a sad song with a playful melody. he said it's sadder that way.
also when you say no core story, yeah he said this is the first song that he wrote for this album. when he reviewed the song he felt the messaging is not completely coherent and structured right but he decided to keep it that way because he felt it's more honest that way. when someone pours their heart out, more likely it won't be very coherent.
so you're correct on that.
about the sandcastle.
after what he's been through he realized how fragile everything is. career, fame. it could be taken for him any time but he decided fuck it i'll build it again. he grew up a lot.
to think that it was a possibility that he wouldnt comeback, we would have missed this masterpiece of an album
Im crying a sea when watching this mv... waited for almost 2 years for hanbin and its really worth it😭
@@x0-x0 you stan the right man :)
Hanbin is a gem and with IOK being the best partner he could ever work with, he is surely up to great things.
no wonder my daughter love this guy so much. his talent is just way offfffffffff
Hanbin's a phenomenal songwriter. This song alone is a masterclass. Thanks for helping break down why, PD
I think you would really love the whole album. I would love to see your reaction! B.I. is a really talented songwriter and producer. I already knew that since almost 100% of iKON's discography was done by him, but he still managed to surprise me with his album. The way he writes is incredibly beautiful.
Can this song be nominated to grammys??. I feel like he deserves more recognition
This album is masterpiece
I mean I know he is supremely talented, but the whole album still cought me sooo off guard....I never bought an album this fast in my life! A masterpiece in concept and execution.
This song is therapeutic to me,it's like you go through this catharsis while listening to it. Whether you know his story or not, it really just hits hard
My younger sister was listening to this on my phone (mind you that she doesn't know B.I,understand anything or even saw the video) and suddenly said :" I feel like I'm at the beach, by the ocean" and then she smiled, and that really startled me yet warmed my heart because not all music can get to you like that and make you visualize things and go through this trip
B.I is truly one of a kind and I'm so happy that he got back up and is now free to express himself better and do his thing ^^ I might still be a bit sensetive about him having to leave iKON , but It warms my heart that he's at least free from YG and is healing, so as iKON who stayed strong and I support both him and the boys and I love them all so much
he's gonna come back even stronger!
For someone who battling depression myself, this song really touches my heart, thank you B.I
The earnestness in his voice ......that's what captured my heart....and I became a fan....I didn't know him ata ll before, only live scenario......and thus just touched me so much I m a fan now.thats it. I am a fan.
his "scandal" was the one that made me the maddest in the last few years. put under immense pressure, no support, and then thrown under the bus for an (admittedly ill-informed) attempt to get some relief.
I cant wait to see what the next few years will hold for him, definitely one of the artists to look out for
Every scene of this MV, bar of this song, and every song on this album is a work of art.
I also am not a fan of Ikon, however I did know of them when B.I was in the group and I always noticed just how skilled he was, especially when Love Scenario came out. This song actually made me sob when I watched it and read the lyrics because of how relatable it was, and you are totally right, it was cause it was vague enough to the point where a lot of people can resonate with it. I was totally trying to hold in my tears but when it got to the scene of him laying down in what looked like a field of flowers, and his tears are getting pulled up from his eyes, I fucking lost it lmao. ;_;
the song is so gorgeous and breathtaking. very melancholic. It's really been on loop ever since release haha
"Gorgeous" is a word I haven't come up with but is so true.
I like your voice, by the way.
i feel emotional and thankful every time seeing the end credits of a movie, like i can somehow witness the hard work of the whole crew, this mv gives me that vibe too, it really shows the greatest respect to every single person who took part in this film making. i would probably give it a 15/10.
This was such a sad and heartbreaking journey but the end of the song felt like a celebration to start of a new journey for our Hanbin.
bi is amazing. he is more than amazing. english lacks the words to describe how extraordinary of a man he is.
We need to put hanbin in the dictionary i guess😉
You're right! B.I did request he wanted the MV to be "movie-alike" He did participate it this. 💖
Coming back here after watching the whole COSMOS commentary! As much as I love COSMOS MV, Illa Illa MV is still my top most favorite ever.
Happy for B.i and proud to know that this whole concept is his Idea, true enough PD he said that he wants it to looks like a movie instead of a typical Music video...
B.I is The Masterpiece.
B.I is Poetry in motion and in heart.
Thank You, Lord for B.I
My history with Hanbin:
I hope b.i will watch this reaction.
EVERYTIME the credits scene played i get so emotional. it gives that hanbin REALLY comeback this year and ALL waiting these 2 years are finally worth it ^^
B.I is not only an idol. he is an artist. thank you so much for this review 🥺nobody else is doing it like our dear hanbin.
I'm using this song as my phone call ringtone. Every time when a call comes in, i don't feel like picking it up right away 'cause i want to listen to the song longer and enjoy it.. 😭
Im using the piano version of this song as my alarm clock cause i wanna wake up with smile and new hope everyday😊
N rebirth piano version as my ringtone, n when it rings, it will remind me of hanbin and fellow IDs😊
@@x0-x0 so proud of him.. 💙💙
A multi-talented Artist ever that's B.I
I had to come back to rewatch this to make this comment.
Once again, thank you for introducing him to my life 💙
I agree, this whole song, music video, album is true art. B.I is a masterpiece himself.
Waterfall is a masterpiece
I straggled alot with this album I couldn't find a fav song 😅😅😅
BI IT FEELS GREAT TO HAVE U BACK
What I took from the song is that he’s so used to being hurt, but he’s ready to be happy and if he could do it all over again he would because it was worth it ☺️
Definitely love "illa illa" and this reaction.
WE NEED A WHOLE ALBUM LISTENING PARTYYYYY😭😭 THE WHOLE ALBUM IS A WHOLE STORY AND PERSONAL ASFFFF🥺
