  • I'm so excited to be sculpting a Blythe face plate again. I get experimental with Milliput (It's like Apoxie) and add to the face, creating a sad expression! Let me know what you think of her in the comments!

    SOOOO CUTE! I think she came out beautifully.
    Ok, for blending I can only offer a video for automobile restoration. I know it sounds like insanity, but trust the process right?
    They use many grit sandpapers, working from the roughest to the smoothest and wet sanding. It takes a while, but I think that might help! (ChrisFix is a good one. Look for his body restoration)
    Always love your videos, thank you so much 💜

Obviamente necesitare un aerógrafo me puedes recomendar uno que no sea muy caro, solo para usarlo con las muñecas. Muchas gracias de antemano. Good, it got into my head to do in some time (that I have more experience) make Emily "the corpse bride". Obviously I will need an airbrush, can you recommend one that is not very expensive, just to use it with the dolls. Thank you very much beforehand

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +1

      Gracias! ¡Oh, eso sería tan hermoso de ver! En su lugar, puede usar pasteles regulares y un pincel grande y suave para aplicar su color. También he visto a personas que usan Pan Pastels (¡pero creo que son bastante caros!) En cuanto a un aerógrafo, realmente no tengo experiencia, este es el único que he usado: es de mi esposo y era bastante barato. razonable, no creo que necesites algo sofisticado para comenzar a usarlo. ^_^
      Thank you! Oh, that would be so beautiful to see! Instead, you can use regular pastels and a large, soft brush to apply your color. I've also seen people use Pan Pastels (but I think they're pretty expensive!) As for an airbrush, I really have no experience, this is the only one I've ever used - it's my husband's and it was pretty cheap. reasonable, I don't think you need anything fancy to start using it. ^_^

    thanks so much for sharing your work!

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +2

      Thank you very much!! Yes I really enjoyed using them, though there is (always) a risk of accidental gouging, they were slower paced and a lot less messy (dusty?) than using the rotary tool. I bought mine from Hobbycraft (UK) but I've seen what looks like the same thing on Amazon & eBay. I tend to obsessively research things before I buy, and I worried about getting a good quality set, but these came with a sharpening stone (which I used before I began carving), and as an amateur I found them comfortable to use! ^_^ Hope it helps!

    • @RagdollCreative
      @RagdollCreative 2 года назад

      @@BethRamsden yes I can imagine! I have a selection of riffler files which I use with my little rotary tool. I have also seen customisers use rounded scalpels for carving but the wood tools seem a little safer! I will have a look in hobby craft - thank you!

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! I have descriptions and links to most of the things I use regularly here in my FAQ: bethramsden.com/faq
      As for reference, I suppose my experience as a portrait painter means it's kind of built in to me now, but if you create a kind of mood board, of other dolls that you like the look of, you can use them as your reference. I hope that helps! Please feel free to ask any more questions ^_^

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +1

      Yeah you should totally give it a try!! This airbrush is just a cheap one (about £60 including the air compressor) it’s fairly straightforward but I haven’t been using it very long honestly 😅 No idea of brand names sorry! I feel like I trust it more than a spray can, and can ‘dilute’ just what I need when I need it 😊 Thank you for watching!!

      @@BethRamsden Well it is very handy to be able to use both hands! I could have done with that ability when my right arm and hand was at its worst... When I used to do gymnastics I used to lead with my left arm and leg, but that was about it. I did try and teach myself to draw left handed but that was unsuccessful, although I could swap hands when playing badminton which was handy!

      Thank you so much! 😊 Those are actually make-up brushes, they’re soft and rounded, perfect for applying and blending pastels 😁

    What is the white clay that you used? Is it available in the US?

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +1

      It’s milliput, a two part epoxy compound. There is a similar thing called Apoxie Sculpt you can look for too. I’m in the UK, so not sure what’s available where you are 😊 Thanks for watching!

    What to use for shiny lips?

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +1

      You can use a glossy varnish on the lips to give them a wet look 😄

    What colour did you use for the paint?

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +2

      I mixed up lots of different colours of acrylic paint until I got a good match - I can give some examples, although shades will vary from brand to brand! - Buff Titanium, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Red. Hope that helps! ^_^

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 года назад +1

      Yes! It's Vallejo Premium Airbrush Matte varnish - www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284746457791?hash=item424c3622bf:g:mW0AAOSwL0tiS9k~ It's very good, but if you're using an airbrush anyway, you might as well use Mr Color Super Clear which is what I now use, you'll find links here in my FAQ for that ^_^ bethramsden.com/faq

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +2

      They should be watercolour pencils, and the kind I use myself are Faber-Castell ‘Goldfaber-Aqua’ ☺️🖌️🎨

    Do you spray varnish outside ?

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +1

      Yes you can if you have a safe place to do so, but I now have a special airbrushing booth with ventilation that sucks particulates and fumes through a tube that goes outside, if I’m spraying MSC varnish then I still wear a proper mask as well indoors! Thanks for watching 😊

    Question if I have a Blythe doll that has a Matte face can I still sculpt it?

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +2

      Yes definitely! You will have to re-seal/varnish the face after sculpting anyway. You can use matte or gloss spray depending on your preference 😁

    What are you mixing milliput with?

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  10 месяцев назад +1

      Milliput is a two part compound, so the two parts combine to start the hardening process. It is mixed with itself 😊
