So many generational homesteads and communities around WNC it's truly heart breaking hearing about how this storm has hurt so many families. One thing I know about this region and the people who live here is they are strong and will rebuild with the help of their community and others from around the region.

As a senior myself, first let me say how sorry I am for the great loss your family has suffered. I had a cousin and her husband who lived in Black Mountain that they were able to get out. My mother and her family had all been from Rutherford County. I did want to say that looking at the wedding portrait, and being a grandparent myself, that day was probably one of the happiest days of their lives. When my husband and I go, that is the kind of memory we would cherish into eternity.

In time, I will write to Bryan and share my heart, my simple words of love. Why do I feel that the loss numbers being given to us by the media are NOT in the hundreds but in the Thousands? I have just one question for the Gov. of NC, FEMA, and the Media.... WHY?
It is in the 1000s. 230 -250 identified. Over 1000 in body bags. 100 marked in a 6 mile stretch to be dug up. The devastation is almost 500 miles long. And in the mountains mudslides took out homes. This is catastrophic. Camping areas. Homeless camps. Untold numbers.
