One does have to say though that Jordan Pickford saved two penalties in the Euro 2020 Final but was on the losing side. He won the Golden Glove award at that tournament but obviously he wasn't nominated for SPOTY that season. I suspect if he had many people would have thought it strange!

BBC is a complete shambles. SPOTY like Question of Sport lost relevance years ago. I believe SPOTY (if it does continue) should only allow proper winners to be amongst its nominees. How Josh Kerr did not get nominated is a disgrace. So what if you have 2 athletes in there - if they win world titles then fair enough.
Last year there was the joke of Fitzpatrick not being nominated when he won the US Open. This year McIlroy was nominated for winning non majors and being part of a Ryder cup winning team.

Golfers don't tend to do well at that event. Justin Rose won the US open in 2013 and barely managed 3% of the vote. McIlroy didn't win it in 2014 despite 2 majors.
@@Ligerpride yes don't expect a golfer or anyone else who is not favoured by BBC coverage to win. The people who vote in SPOTY are brainwashed to follow BBC footage. You would at least have thought Kerr might have got a nomination based on BBC showing the athletics.
