@@blackopspro6455 minecart can't grab you in mid-air as well as on ground.
Steve's grab is also a fishing rod, just like Isabelle's side B, yet that can grab opponents in shield. Yes I know it's because his is a regular grab while hers is a special move, but still. They are both fishing rods.

Honestly the only thing villager got over isabelle is the smash attacks, isabelle always feels so much better to play than villager and its not even close

I do have to agree. I have always kind of felt that Isabelle is slightly better than Villager for a while now. Now that I think of it, I see people using Isabelle a lot more often than I see people using Villager.
I think there are reasons to play either over the other for different matchups. Not outlandish to think you could play both characters and counter pick between them whether you want bowling ball or fishing rod for edge guards. Villager side b just eats Samus charge shots

I’m a villager main who use to main Isabelle, i stayed her for a while until switching due to the pressure of people saying villager was better in early ultimate, now since I’ve mained villager since then I can safely say villager is not threatening and it’s to the point where I’ve built my villager to try to timeout some characters in certain match ups due to how hard it is, nair is the only thing going for him since it’s frame 3, Isabelle’s, Slingshot is safer on shield than villagers and if you don’t believe me search it up at ultimate framedata.
Quite the opposite it says that Villager Foward air is -4 and Isabelle's is -6 and for back air Villager's is -3 and Isabelle's is -4
They are more or less the same in many areas, but the big things are as you mentioned for Isy, her utilt and jab. Her dash attack too. Villy has a better nair at frame 3 so has a frame 6 OoS and can interrupt combos with nair, but Isy nair sends you at harsher angle horizontally for earlier kills and gimps. Sometimes the uair and dair are stronger for Villy. Villy f smash is really good on Kalos League, and Yoshi Story if legal at your tourney as opponents cant use the ledge to dip under the bowling ball if they must recover low. Its very much a toss up which specials are actually better. Both side b's are very telegraphed and can leave you a sitting duck if spammed without thought, isy can actually kill with her side b, but there's more variability with Villy rocket. Also Villy rocket kills up close if your rocket is reflected back at you at some point and you pocket your own rocket for the insane 1.8× multiplier. It's easier to set up Isy down b over and over, Villy tree is a bad move only if you hit with the falling tree which is more obvious than a Ganon warlock punch- BUT, if you "half water" the sapling (the sapling can not be interacted with or destroyed by the opponent, unlike Isy rocket mine) and water it again later when the opponent close to it, it comes up surprisingly fast and kills early/breaks shields. Another thing is the Axe, you will have it for a short time, but wavebounce/b reversal axe has better range than standard axe, Villy lunges. And, its a FRAME 5 move that kills early. Think of it as a lunging aerial smash attack when you have it, and no smash attack in the game is frame 5. Villy also has better control over their balloons, Isy kinda kicks from one spot to the next, while Villy can move more freely. But, you have to watch out edge guarding Isy as the range of her fishing rod can snag you, and she'll throw you backwards. Also her fishing rod is great for snapping the ledge and Villy dont have that option.
That's about all for their differences that matter. Isy has a fraction more air speed for landing strong fair/bair, and villager has a fraction more fast falling speed for landing sweet spot dair/uair and safe landing nairs.
Im a villager main and i would argue that the tree fall isnt remotely comparable with warlock punch. I mean, after the tree gets chopped the hitbox is active on frame 14, and if you bait them especially when in the air, you can do a down-B reverse with the axe and make it fall on their head before they even realize it. Other than that, Tree in my opinion has a far better conditioning game and stage control compared to the lloyd trap for the only fact that sapling is intangible and also does stays on stage for 240 more frames than lloyd trap

That nair that covers around the body for Villager is a lot stronger for defense than Isabelle's, it's F3 instead of F5 (as fast as an airdodge) and can trade out of frame traps because of the better disjoint, as Sheik I can fair through her nair and frametrap if they airdodge which is not the same for Villager who can panic trade or force guesses
Lloyd doesn't do much but it's generally riskless to throw out despite being easy to deal with, very "why not" option
Not saying Villy's a tier better or anything but it's not so simple
Both of them are my mains. I usually decide which of them to pick as follows: if I really need and want to keep the oponent away, Villager. If I need better combat up close and/or fishing rod abuses some move of the character (say, incineroar side b), Isabelle.

The fact that Isabelle's normals/up close game is better is immediately made redundant by the fact that pretty much any character from mid tier up that can scrap destroys her on that front. Her and Villager are at their best when they camp, and Villager is simply way better at camping than Isabelle. Just allows for a more solid, more dynamic gameplan.
He's definitly not way better at camping. He's slightly better, which is what makes isabelle that much more consistent, because she's not entirely reliant on camping but still does it well. Also, if you think villagers llyod is somehow the deciding factor, then your mind can't be changed.

These are the reasons why I dropped that boy on this head for Izzy (after the Hero patch and onwards)...! She's fun in knowing that I can be more aggressive with her, as well as making new discoveries as I keep play her; Villager on the other hand is more passive and boring, especially in comparison to his Smash 4 counterpart
Plus it's Izzy; she's cute :)
Heres my issue. I’ve always had mixed feelings about isabelle. Like i feel like shes always had potential to be a high tier if they gave her some buffs like maybe make her a bit heavier, and a few less frames of startup for her grab. And fishing rod which is the one thing that saves isabelle needs some buffs as well. Like it and lloid trap is great for ledgetrapping. Except they have several of their own issues. Like how fishing rod, all you have to do to avoid it is to shield. And it takes forever to put the rod away. Like why did they eventually make it so that the rod doesn’t catch opponents when it doesn’t move? And reeling the rod back in is 46 FRAMES! While shes gotten tons of buffs, she needs just a better grab and a bit more weight to make my girl a secret menace

No, bowling ball carries a lot of matchups, isabell doesnt kill a lot of the time, and loyd forces most characters to play neutral his way in a situation he known much better

I only wish down b were better. Multiple ways to remove it, and it's not even fast enough to punish certain characters just dashing over it. The only thing it's designed to do!
I believe villager's nair is faster and hits lower making it a better OOS move and that his side b lets him approach much easier than Isabelle's

I think you’re kinda overly dismissive of villager’s zoning abilities (calling lloid rocket a bad move?) like isabelle is definitely better up close but villager throwing lloid + fair/bair at you is way more forcing than isabelle having the trap buried between you and throwing out fairs/bairs.
Also ima be real every single one of villager’s smash attacks is significantly better than Isabelle’s imo, obviously isabelle can kill confirm with jab and that makes a huge difference but I’d probably still say villager has better tools overall in most matchups.
