- The first mosque in Slovenia has finally been opened in the capital, Ljubljana, after 50 years of overcoming financial obstacles and fighting back against right-wing opposition parties.

Alhamdulilah, but this is not the first mosque in Slovenia.First mosque that we know about is mosque in Log pod Mangartom.That mosque was built by Bosniaks who fighted Italians in the Great war.That mosque was destroyed after Great war.Also, this mosque in Ljubljana was builded by Bosniaks.

@Cocolaboy That is true, because RUclips has many times blocked me from being notified of replies to my comments and that is usually when after I've time either conveying or standing up for the Truth, especially when it has to do with Islam. I do not promote terrorism, and most of the times I try to just refute myths and misconceptions. So yes, YehudTube obviously doesn't like that I do any of that so they decide to shadow ban me from time to time. Never knew there was a word for it until now.

The following is an excerpt from a Preporod article (the newspaper of the Bosniak Islamic community) published on August, 14th 2016 with the title "Džamija u Ljubljani - snaženje slovenske pluralnosti kroz uzdizanje muslimana":
Velikodušnost emira Katara
Međutim, finansijska dimenzija izgradnje džamije u Ljubljani i pratećih objekata ima mnogo širu dimenziju i nadilazi opseg trenutnih mogućnosti ukupne Islamske zajednice. Prisjećajući se početaka punih neizvjesnosti i briga, muftija prvo iskazuje zahvalnost Allahu, dž. š., na Njegovoj milosti i pomoći, a onda ističe velikodušnost emira Katara. „Kada smo se 2008. godine trebali prijaviti na natječaj za kupovinu zemljišta morali smo uplatiti 460.000 eura, a mi smo imali na raspolaganju svega 200.000 eura. Od gospodina Ermina Topuza posudili smo 100.000, a drugih 100.000 eura smo osigurali iz nekih drugih projekta“, evocira uspomene na taj period muftija ljubljanski.
Prekretnica u osiguravanju početnih sredstava za izgradnju bila je odluka tadašnjeg emira Katara Hameda bin Halife Alu Thanija da on svojim sredstvima izgradi džamiju. „Predsjednik Slovenije Danilo Tirk je 2010. godine, u čast posjete emira Katara, organizirao večeru na koju sam i ja bio pozvan. Tokom večere emir Alu Thani me je upitao šta radimo. Odgovorio sam mu da pravimo džamiju. Odmah je rekao da bi on volio da napravi džamiju u Ljubljani. Rekao sam mu da to kaže predsjedniku Slovenije. Nakon dvadesetak minuta emir je predsjedniku Tirku rekao da bi on, ako muftija dopusti, želio da izgradi džamiju u Ljubljani“, objašnjava muftija Grabus kako je došlo do toga da se emir Katara uključi u ovaj projekat.
Nakon godinu dana iz Katara je stigla radosna vijest da su operativna sredstva od 15 miliona eura za gradnju džamije. No ova sredstva nisu se mogla koristiti za kupovinu zemljišta, građevinske dozvole i komunalnu pripremu terena, nego isključivo za gradnju objekta, tako da je Islamska zajednica za navedene troškove morala osigurati sredstva iz drugih izvora. Ipak, odgovorni u Kataru prepoznavši trud IZ, odobrili su 2013. godine da se iz spomenutog granta isplati dug za zemljište u visini 1,3 miliona eura, te da se uradi izvedbeni projekt IKC u Ljubljani.

I like that it has a modern, abstract art type of vibe to it. I hope more mosques open in Europe with consideration to the regional architecture and style in general. It will help normalize Islam and make it look less "threatening". No European really wants a Baghdad or Karachi style mosque in the middle of a European city.

Slovenia has muslim population around 100.000 today. Which makes it around 5%. While ppl of muslim backroud but dont considere themself to be muslim (they are atheist) make around 10%+ of population. 30% of Slovenian population is of migrant origin. Bosniaks make around 6%, while Serbs 9%. 15% is albanians, gypsies, croats, russins, macedons etc.. While Bosnians nationalists (bosnian croats, serbs, bosniaks & ppl who originated from bosnian in last 100years) make around 15-20% of population..
Yes that's why there should be a place for Muslims to worship.
