Perfect tutorial! I like it that you explain the whole game by demonstrating a few turns, but also what happens at the end of an age, and at the end of a game. It gives in total a complete overview of the game. Thanks for creating this!
I must say this is one of the most unique takes on 'civ building' I have seen in quite awhile between the triangular 'dominoes,' the different types of knowledge, the sheer number of asymmetric civilizations that determine endgame scoring, and the monument building aspects. There's clearly a lot going on and a lot to think about but your video manages to make it pretty easy to follow along and understand how the game is supposed to be played. Excellent work as always.
Great tutorial as usual, thank you! At 26:10 you mention you look to the turn order to break excess knowledge ties, but the rule book states highest influence breaks all ties in any situation first (which in turn if tied, would then be broken by turn order).
I think you may have initiative and influence confused. On page 6 of the rulebook it says "Initiative: in case of a tie in any situation, the winner is always the highest placed (closest to first) player on the Initiative track." and the Initiative track is the one on the cradle tile in the middle of the table.
I wish your videos had been around when I was learning this game, really good. I noticed at 18m 30s when you gave the locus example you didn’t include the knowledge from the camp as well (art in this instance), see page 8 of the rules. Worth adding a note. Keep up the great work.
I really like the look of this game but was a little disappointed how player one was pigeonholed in to focusing mostly on science the entire first age. I know that the moves made sense but I’d like to see the game encourage you to spread around a little bit more. I know the knowledge is reset at beginning of age two but does that mean age two is just focussing on one other colour. Will need to watch the extended play through to find out. I wonder if the game is designed in a way you always develop 2-3 colours per game to stop you spreading yourself too thin. Be cool if the mastery cards and monuments play off other colours to help you diverge. Any thoughts. Excellent tutorial by the way.
JonGetsGames Hmm...yikes. I’ve only watched this tutorial so far, but I caught three spelling errors (one of which, “Illustreous,” is repeated on all the related cards). Maybe this kind of question is more appropriate for your “thoughts” videos, but did you have problems with the rulebook clarity or notice other types of errors? That kind of mistake doesn’t necessarily mean much, but it may be indicative of an overall lack of care.
@@cornichon2580 I feel like the rulebook was pretty straight forward to read. I know the publisher is based in France so perhaps this is just an unfortunate result that wasn't caught after translation. I didn't personally notice any errors but I have always had a weak spot when it came to grammar and spelling.
JonGetsGames The arts of language! Language Farts as I like to call it, is my enemy as well. I do wish I picked this game up when I had the chance. Like games in the genre sometimes have a specific path to victory. I wonder if this one has such a path?
I think you are in error on resolving the influence at the end of an Age. To be able to upgrade a skill it is NOT required that the person you are assimilating the skill from have themselves already upgraded that skill. As long as you already have the skill, if they have it too, you can them upgrade it for free. The rules do not state the it must have been upgraded previously.
I just checked and you are indeed correct. It looks like I misunderstood that section and unfortunately the publisher didn't notice this error when they watched a preview version of this tutorial. I've added a correction about this to the Klingon subtitles, thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you found it useful!
This channel should have 100k subscribers.

Very well explained and amazing work with the way it's shot !all board games tutorial should be like this one!
Excellent tutorial!
excellent tutorial - there's quite a bit going on, but you lay it all out in an organized and easily followed manner. thanks!
Great video, love your streamlined videos that give me a good view into how it plays

JonGetsGames ah correct you are! Why would I have ever doubted you? Lol

Good catch, you are right that I didn't mention that. I've added a note to the Klingon subtitles now, thanks!
I backed Honey Buzz mostly because of your video! Can’t wait to get that game. Thanks for making such good content, and keep up the good work =)
Just saw the game in a store yesterday, and there you are with a video. Cool beans mate!
Great rules teach as always. I gave up halfway through teaching from the rulebook. If only this had come out earlier! =D

How many square meters of table top do you need to play this game?
I don't know exactly, but this one definitely tested the limits of my recording table.
My Man!
@jon The extended playthrough looks broken ... is it a youtube issue?
Huh, it looks like the link was incorrect. Thanks for pointing that out, I have fixed it now.
I didn’t hear you say at the beginning, but is this a prototype version of the game? I noticed multiple spelling errors on cards.
This was a production version of the game, not a prototype.

Isn't Illustreous Old English? Since the wonders/monuments are supposed to be old building, it was maybe something they went for instead of a mistake.
