- "Dune" world re-imagined in the style of "Game of Thrones" show opening.
The base of this map is the Space Guild emblem. The idea is that for different episodes of a hypothetical Dune show it will feature different planets, just like different castles were shown in different seasons of GoT.

Imagine putting like the whole first season of game of thrones in 1 or even 2 movies
I hope they don't decide to continue the story in series format. The longer something extends in time, the more likely it is that it will deviate from the original idea and style. In that sense, I think that movies are better at concentrating a vision, a style, a specific way of telling the story en two hours. Nowadays series are mostly a commercial necessity.

It’s crazy how much Dune has pretty much inspired famous franchises like GOT and Star Wars
Wheel of Time, even more so I think. The parallels there are very apparent, with the Aes Sedai being very clearly influenced by the Bene Gesserit and the Dragon Reborn having many conceptual similarities to the Kwisatz Haderach.

I think that Dune would benefit more as a series than a movie. Its storytelling fits with that format more.

Definitely. The movies are great but they don't capture the charm of the books due to the omissions and changes they had to make owing to the time constraints. The 3-4 hour extended cuts of both films which includes all the important deleted scenes is probably the closest we'll get to a Dune tv series.

@@K1LL4Cam I mean its the same plot, Atrides = Stark, Kings Landing = Arakis, the protagonist's "dad" gets promoted before being betrayed and has his house wiped out while protagonist leads guerrilla forces.

Dune to dune Messiah is hardly a complete story. All dune Messiah does is set the stage for children of dune.

@@rhatcher010 Dune has a lot of material for a five seasons serie. Not only did Frank Herbert write 6 books, but his son expanded the universe with his father's ideas and notes. Now, Brian Herbert's books are mostly criticized, but I think they can take the best ideas and improve them in the tv format (take The Boys for example, the tv serie is vastly superior to the comics)

This intro is perfect, the music and pacing of the scene is so good, and the symbolism of all the planets facing Arrakis cause is the planet that produce the spice.

That shot of Paul walking towards the southern Fremen with Shai-Hulud rising behind him is like seeing Aegon the Conqueror with Balerion the Black Dread flying and spewing his black flames behind him.
Brilliant! The only addition I would have made is adding a sand worm on Arrakis after the ornithopters.
To think professional animated with millions to spend couldn’t do half as good a job as this for Rings of Power’s boring intro.
Thanks! Yeah, I wanted to add a worm. Tried several designs, but they are tricky to get right (i.e. the infamous popcorn bucket). Looked too silly, so I decided to go "less is more" way, since Arrakis still comes up through a sandworm's mouth in the Guild emblem. Also, to be fair to VFX people from Rings, titles are cool, but that physics-based concept made no sense for LOTR world. Would work much better in sci-fi, maybe something MCU-related

I love how all the planets are connected to Arrakis. Nice touch to an amazing animation. The planet (as opposed to the game of thrones map) approach didn’t come to mind, but is a great way to visualize this.

I hope Villeneuve releases the extended cuts because the theatrical cuts of the movies although great are extremely watered down compared to the movie's own true length let alone the books which you can make 2 seasons of a tv series out of.

Game of Thrones is Dune in a medieval setting. Frank Herbert wrote Dune long before GRR Martin wrote A Song Of Ice and Fire and practically ripped off Dune.
I remember thinking that Dune has a lot of the same appeal as "Game of Thrones" and when they first announced it, I thought they ought make it into something similar. Though in retrospect it is hard to argue with the quality of the movies we got.
My god that was even better than I thought it was gonna be.
