- After more than two years of war, Ukraine is struggling to recruit new troops. It’s recently passed a law lowering the conscription age from 27 to 25. But on Tuesday it went further, issuing new passport rules for men abroad.

Honestly if I was Ukrainian military age men, I would just go to Russia because Poland and Moldova signed a new law where they can deport Ukrainian back to Ukraine in order to fill up the frontline. Other European countries have also informed Ukraine if needed they would also deport Ukrainian citizens back. America and NATO wants to continue this war till the last Ukrainian
There is a reason Russia has more Ukrainian refugees than any other country in the world. Not to mention the millions still living in former Ukrainian territory now under Russian control.

Others went somewhere else not because they're "dumb", it's because they can't afford swiss, and perhaps had relatives in their destination country (like Poland). The best destination is of course Ru. Affordable living and no chance of getting dep/orted to serve in the military.

In my country if there would be war call and you stayed there is constitutional law where you can refuse to participate in combat because of personal beliefs, like pacifist. They will assign you to a support military which will help civilians and animals in need, kind of police/firefighter mix of service.

I was adopted from Ukraine to U.S 14 years ago. I ‘m pretty sure I have a dual citizenship. But I haven’t been to Ukraine ever since I left, but I wonder if they’re capable of drafting me into the war even tho I have American citizenship and lived here 14 years as an American , yes I’m 28 years old btw…. Does anybody know anything about this stuff. Bc personally I have no one or nothing in Ukraine and don’t ever wanna go back there. I was an orphan all my life there and lived in horrible conditions and to this day I still have PTSD about Ukraine and a harsh lifestyle I had. I have no desire to fight for Ukraine. No way.

Same thing happened with Syrian men. Hundreds of thousands of young Syrian men fled to Turkey and Europe in order to avoid conscription. Now they don’t return to Syria as they fear arrest.

I have mixed feelings on this. Sometimes I think they are just cowards, but other times I think its their right to leave, but should forfeit all future rights and privileges of being Ukrainian, since they are obviously unwilling to defend the country. Like if the protested paying their taxes, would they get a lot of sympathy? Citizens have obligations to the state too, not just the other way around.
What you forget in your calculations is that giving life for your country is the ultimate price one can pay, while citizens of each country enjoy different benefits and have different rights depending on the country they reside in.
