*INSTALL ERROR SEEN IN VIDEO*
The gps was mounted backwards on the shaft in this video. There is an arrow on gps that indicates direction of travel. You have the GPS 180 degrees opposite from its correct manufacturer recommended position. You will have unpredictable crazy behavior if you don’t reposition the GPS.
HOPE YOU LIKE THE SYSTEM.
JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW AND HAVE A SAFE TIME ON WATER. ❤😊
Sincerely,
AutoBoat Co-Owner
Thank you very much! We will fix and test. We hadn’t used the GPS yet so we didn’t know! Appreciate this! 🍻
@@drluketheduke1531 no problem. Happy to help. If you already liked AutoBoat you will love it even more when you use gps features. The gps features work best when motor is mounted on the bow of boat. When mounted on stern of boat you can only really use limited features like anchor mode and steering. Navpoint heading mode and route follow modes don’t work when motor is mounted on stern. Also a pro tip is to go into free AutoBoat app and in settings turn on “stern mount mode”….this makes your steering intuitive instead of inverted while transom mounted.

Thanks for the video. For reversing, it's not recommended to manually switch the speed back to reverse. Its much better just to steer the motor backwards with the remote. It will be more powerful. If your outboard is not straight in the back, it will make it really hard for your boat to go straight.
You are so welcome! This will work perfectly for my dad! We did try and rotate the trolling motor all the way around but the prop was hitting the bottom of the boat - we could lower it, but there are times when the water is too shallow and we couldn't. Also, the one main thing I did notice was reading the manual or instruction manual or even scanning the manual that came with it, we couldn't find an easy video about the correct way to install it. That is why we messed up - we never saw anything about screwing it down anywhere - did we miss that? Other than that - awesome product!
@@drluketheduke1531 the gps was mounted backwards on shaft as well. So your gps won’t be accurate and will be erratic behavior. GPS needs to be rotated 180 degrees on the shaft. The blue arrow on gps should align with direction of propulsion travel.

could you read the comment above and let this person know: @coachrandall8190
Is there a difference between your and the one i see that says smart head gps.
I am not sure...let me tag someone that might know @TBNationOutdoors
The new version of this is so much nicer and a cleaner fit. I’d be a bit upset if I bought one and less than 6 months later a better version came out. Either way they are still amazing products.
@@nelhead4807 hello! I haven’t checked since I bought it last May - but there is another version?? Interesting. Will need to see that. I think they watched and listened to some things that were tricky. Thanks for thr support and comment! You have one?
@ it replaces the whole head of the trolling motor and no need for that black box. It’s really amazing that they can pack all that into the head now.
@@nelhead4807 oh damn! Nice. We love ours. I use it for thr remote and haven’t tried GPS at all yet lol
@ definitely one of the best things to come out this year.
Thanks for sharing! I've been looking at this unit for my Jon boat and kayak! Is it still working for you?
yes! I still haven't done the GPS - but the remote control is perfect!!! so much better with that...the one thing I have noticed is I have the motor in the back so the right is left and left is right...but it isn't too bad once you fix that in your head. I always had been looking for that for something like this!
You will want to place the GPS unit to point out the back of the motor. Two reasons the signal will be better and the power cords to the motor will interfere with the signal as well. Also if you plan on using the auto pilot or not sure what they call the feature. It will run you backwards when its at the back of the boat. It will work but if you have wind it will have to work harder. Also not much point of the unit if your just sitting next to it. Really designed to be used up front. ruclips.net/video/fBlg_ilG0uc/видео.html
Thanks for the comment! The main reason I got it was for my dad, so he doesn't have to keep reaching backwards to control the trolling motor. So far it is working great for him. Not sure how much we will use the GPS auto pilot. Do you have a setup on your boat? I'm curious to know if you like it or not. Thanks for the support!
Yes if you dont have the GPS puck faced the correct direction the unit will make the boat move in a random direction very fast when you press the anchor button.
@@user-cc9ed6rj6d thank you!
That Rod and Reel ruler sticker is a blast from the past.
Yes, right. Every time I fish in the boat - good times with my grandpa! 🍻🤟 he made all of this happen
So I'm completely clueless about all that but why the need for a gps sensor?
Yo! It’s used for anchor lock ! Stay right in the same spot!!
@@drluketheduke1531 so if your boat is about to drift the motor itself will rotate to keep you in place? If I'm understanding that right
@@lsrzsunny-i-beamz yessir! In our other boat - we have won tournaments because of that!!
@@drluketheduke1531 ok cool, thx bro for the explanation. ❤️💪
@@lsrzsunny-i-beamz anytime! We put right now fishing with thr kids! lol
Cool system but I would HATE the beeper all the time. I would have to look into cutting that thing down or off
👍 there might be a feature to turn that off. I will check next time I’m at my dad’s. Thanks for watching! 🍻
Suas pescarias vão ficar mais fáceis com o uso do AUTOBOAT.
yes, I took it to a local lake and it was wonderful! I didn't have to reach back at all! hahhaha I almost think I need a little bigger trolling motor now! hahha
Maybe watch the many instruction videos next time you have a project like this.
@@cmacclel what do you mean? When I got this there was very little documentation or videos to watch. What do you have an issue with? I do not appreciate if you are being rude. I don’t want that on my channel
