      Garbage, I wouldn't buy food in any of Akron's convenient stores with maybe one exception being sheetz. Sheetz is pretty good.

      I've always eaten pretty much everything without really caring much, so I never thought convenience store food was that terrible even in the Midwest. Ireland's is really expensive for the most part since most stuff is made fresh, and the packaged stuff is generally really nice. Sweden was kinda between the two? They had some decent packaged sandwiches if you needed something quick but the little cafes everywhere are a lot better for actual meals.

    Raw ham? If I were back in my mother's home town deep in south west France (St Jean de Luz) I would assume the sandwich would be made with "jambon de Bayonne" (Bayonne ham - this is a simple haunch of ham air dried for about 18 months then simply sliced straight off the haunch - delicious) with either a local cheese (probably a brébis - a hard pyrennean sheep's milk cheese) or camembert, brie or emmenthal.

    I get what you guys (K&E) are saying about certain kinds of alcohol that give you more sickness than benefit. I usually get that from korean soju (okay, maybe not all of them). I love the taste, but hate the effect, especially in the morning after. On the other hand, I love chu-hi/ sours, from 4% Kirin Ichigo Pocky (lucky I got to try those just in time), to 9% Suntory Strong Zero. Gosh I loooove those stuff, drank a lot of them when I was in Japan, and none of them gave me any negative effects, fortunately.

    It is still amazing to me how much better the 7-11 in Japan (and Korea/Taiwan) was compared to the US. Here in the Netherlands the quality of food in convenience stores has gotten a lot better in the last 10 years or so. Our biggest supermarket chain (Albert Heijn) has started opening more and more of their convenience store type called AH to go which has a really decent selection.

    Hey! Well, let me put it this way. Convenience store food does exist where I live, but it is freshly made and usually rather expensive. I mean, if you are in a hurry or money does not matter to you, the food prepared instore is actually pretty good. On the other hand, the prepacket, boxed food tastes like really horrible. some of it is almost inedible. For example, I love beans. Baked, cooked, in a salad and all other..but the ready made - shelfsafe style meal made with white beans tastes like licking a 9 volt battery and smelling the sewer...for real... To be honest, we actually prefer home made food or occasionally going to a restaurant (maybe a takeout). Meals from stores are generally not considered high quality here (in Serbia). Loved the vid. Cheers!

    • @travelswithblindcane
      @travelswithblindcane 4 года назад +1

      This has made me a lot more curious to go to Serbia! Sounds fairly similar to Ireland in terms of convenience stores, but the prepackaged stuff is normally pretty okay. I bet Serbian food is awesome, I've been eating Irish food so long it's gotten kinda boring xD

    • @nikolairge
      @nikolairge 4 года назад +1

      @@travelswithblindcane Serbian cuisine is based on fresh food. You would love it for sure. You won't regret coming and trying the local stuff. The food differs from region to region. I live on the north of the country. We have all sorts of food. Hungarian style and Serbian style with a little influence of Turkish cuisine. If I may suggest, every one coming to Serbia should definitely try the southern style food. It's really awesome. Grilled meat made to perfection, fresh vegetables and tasty side dishes, pastry with cheese and lots more. On top of that, the hospitality and the kindness of the people usually makes the experience even better. You can't go wrong. Please, do come if you can.

    I think the big misconception for most americans and I assume canadians as well is that convenience stores tend to be gas stations here, the food they sell is all junk food but more specifically its mostly snack food. They might sell a sandwich, hotdogs, nachos or pizza by the slice (which is just frozen pizza).
    So I don't think it's right to compare western convenience/gas stations and east asian convenience stores, a conbini is closer to a grocery store with a food court. I'd like to see you guys go check out some more convenience stores in more rural areas, I suspect that these places are a result of most people not having a car.

    I think you missed the main reason why you stopped eating 7 eleven food: An instinctual gut feeling not to eat their food: except pancakes with maple syrup and butter.
