Well done, Jeff. You're my go-to guy when it comes to updating my civil 3D skills. It's nice to see that pressure pipe is now useful. I first used it on a large project about 10 years ago. In which i stopped using it after that. Now i think it's usable now.
Oh My!!! I have been wasting so much time creating pressure networks. Jeff, you are a lifesaver, I am so glad I found your channel. I love creating networks, but I have never taken advantage of new pipe run method, because I didn't understand it. I have been creating them manually. Now, that I do understand, you have renewed my love for creating them. Thank you so much for this. Your channel will be my number one resource for Civil 3D from now on.
I very recently took a look at the pressure network tools after ignoring them since they were first released due to deficiencies in functionality. Typically I'll start out using new tools without studying the help system, just to get a feel for how they work and find out where I need to focus my time. The initial experience was frustrating. The familiar workflows for working with pipe networks no longer apply. Selecting a pipe does not bring up a contextual menu for manipulating the pipe network, but instead leads the user to the alignment tools. This is not intuitive at all, which is frustrating, forcing the user to delve into the help system immediately to figure out what to do. The help system does not include tutorials for pressure networks, which is one more source of aggravation. I have subscribed to your RUclips channel because you are a great resource, being closely affiliated with the product team. Your video has clarified the workflows considerably and show there are much needed improvements since I last used the tools. I now feel much more comfortable with using the tools on live projects and will move forward with them on a current project. I understand this is a work in progress. I can see where there can be improvements to make the tools more intuitive. Hopefully that is being considered by the development team. In the meanwhile your video has really helped understand the tools and is a great resource, so thank you for making it available to the public!
As sharp as knife in your notes, i have one question Jeff previous version of C3D allows you to control the allowable deflection angle of the pipe, but in 2023 i cannot see that option, does ADSK remove it?
Fantastic information presented clearly. Thanks for the links at the end. I've been looking for a good way to add items to our parts catalogs and I hope these do the trick. Like others have said, I believe you are the best C3D instructor. Thanks for teaching.
LITTERALLY the best explanation of this process out there. I work in landscape and use pressure networks to model irrigation lines. Kinda clunky but an able to export to Revit for clash detection. Any vids on modifying catalogs to expand pipes and fittings to smaller sizes?
Is there any way to view and label the Invert levels of the pipes at the cut lengths start/end in the plan and profile views? Obviously, it's been made as one pipe with one start and end point whereas in the middle they vary! I am trying to adapt this procedure but I believe if this didn't work I cannot! Thank you Jeff!
Congratulations for the video, it is really interesting and very clear. I was wondering how, once the network has been modeled, it is convenient to model the excavation
Great video! I am currently learning how to work with pressure pipe networks myself. I have one set up with a profile and I am trying to do those vertical deflection edits like you did around 32:30. My grips seem to copy the style of the grade line and when moved, do not actually make the pipe change at all. Do you know why this is the case or how I can make them deflect the pipe?
Hello! Awesome video, thank you! 1question, your pressure line we caqn se the center line and the pipe walls in top view, in my civil 3D (2024) only i see the center line, no walls, and the elbow also just 1 line...how can I set it so that I can see this multi-line drawn pipe?
wow i was waiting for so long for this hope the pipes under gravity networks networks too if you have a full curse for it i would like to buy it Sir Jeff 😊
Thanks a lot of for this video.i have a question, when i drawing pipeline than it coming ( 11.25,22.5,45 and 90 degree) snipping mood but also i wanna use 1 or 2 degree sometimes, how can add (1 and 2 degree ) ?
Jeff, in my drawing I need the flange elevation set at 4 inches above grade. How do you get that to set with these pressure pipe hydrants? Is it a case that now you just have to play around with bury depth dimension and get it close?? There has to be a better way.
I typically work on a lot of long transmission lines. I have been using the old parts based pressure networks and am just getting into and liking the pressure pipe run work flow. Do you see any issues working with long pipe runs - I am currently looking at a 10 mile long 16" water main.
Hello sir, I've been working with the pressure network in Civil 3D software, but I'm having a problem. After I create the pipe, it only shows as a single line, and the fittings and bends don’t appear. Since I'm a beginner, could you help me figure out how to fix this?
Dear Jeff, thank you very much for your videos! It would be great to take your research a little further and consider adding a channel or trench to this network, such as a corridor. Also, a few words can be given to the creation of catalog items. For myself, I learned how to create large catalogs of elements for thousands of elements using a combination of SQL, Excel and Dynamo. I think your viewers would be interested in such material. Best regards and respect =)
Hi Jeff. I am wondering if there is an easy way to rename pressure networks? I know there is a way for pipe networks but that doesn't seem to work for pressure networks.
Thank you very much for this wonderful video, I would like to ask you about details profile if you could help me how to create band invert levels? Please🙏 Sir send me any link if you have Thank you
Yes, a layout profile can be used. At the end of the session, I showed how to use a layout profile to define a lowering. You could simply make the layout profile the full length and assign a depth of cover for it.
I always find using the pressure networks pretty finicky and frustrating. Especially when having lisp routines autoloaded in before even setting the network catalog
We still have some issues displaying bends the way we'd like to. Also 90deg vertical pipes lose their visual diameter. They just appear as a line, which is weird.
It's because of the difference between vertical and horizontal scale I would assume. Don't have C3D in front of me but see what happens if you set the horizontal and vertical scales both to same number. Or at least lower the difference between them.
@@jaredsilvers2782 unfortunately it makes no difference. 1:1 or 1:5, looks the same (besides the obvious scaling difference). It is something I need to dive into again because I know a former coworker succeeded once. Just cant remember if he used a bend made by a third party or our in-house parts library. 90 degree vertical bends displaying as a line is simply C3D and Autodesk thinking that is the way it should be displayed. Mildly annoying, but having to do so is, fortunately, very rare for me.

Now that 90% of the tool's bugs are worked out, this video is right on time. Will be sharing this with my team during training sessions.
I'm still using 2021. I'm having issues. So I was wondering if the bugs that you refer to got corrected in 2021 updates or in new version like 2023?
@@ericstiles7699 let's just say that if I were to try what Jeff demo'd even in 2022, I'd have a broken pipe network or file.

What if i do not have any Suface to select? Is it important to have a Surface to draw Pipelines?

In the Pipe Run Profile Settings you mention the Reference Profile is a surface profile. Can Layout Profiles be used or Surface only?
Yes, a layout profile can be used. At the end of the session, I showed how to use a layout profile to define a lowering. You could simply make the layout profile the full length and assign a depth of cover for it.
If you have a network that has a 90deg bend and you end up needing it to continue straight (tee connection) how do you do that?
in that case, you must provide tee fitting with a short pipe and end cap on it for future extension.
Nice video, thank you!!
