This is the TWISTED case of Ryan Waller where Detectives would only realize what had been done to Ryan until after everything was over.. #psychology #truecrime
I swear I can't contain myself right now. I am shaking with anger. This video really got me emotional. Its absolutely despicable what that interrogator did
It doesnt even matter he is criminal or not. If a person shot in the head, reguardless of murderer or innocent, first thing a security personel should do is check the wound and if its severe like shot in the head immediately send him to the hospital. I dont know wtf is this detective doing???
After some googling it seems the family pressed charges but the case was dismissed but the family along with an expert brain surgeon think it was “corrupted” due to the police realizing the brain surgeon was about to testify
The fact that he’s clearly unable to understand simple sentences shows that he’s experiencing serious brain damage, and then then detective just doesn’t give a crap. So stupid
His lover had just been brutally murdered. He had a bullet in his brain. He then gets put into a room with a pathetic, low intellect bully. My heart goes out to this poor young man. My sincere condolences to those who lost a son and a daughter.
Poor Ryan, he was dying in front of the detective and he doesn't give a shit about Ryan and only cares about information. People like him are giving cops a bad name. The detective should've been fired from the job instantly.
It’s presumed innocent until proven guilty,it’s just a presumption. But that is besides the fact here. That damn detective couldn’t figure a way out of a wet paper bag and he should be in jail!
Medical care should ALWAYS be a priority!!! This is so utterly disgusting! What is wrong with this "detective"??? He is showing signs that he's declining! He could have been saved if this person had responded to his medical needs! I'm utterly disgusted by this so-called "professional". Isn't the eye injury obvious??? And with his declining mental faculties, I'm shocked that he's as articulate as he is. I have never seen such gross negligence! This is an utter travesty!!! I certainly hope this "detective" gets some punishment for this gross travesty!!!!!!!
I'm not so sure he could have been saved. The neurologists would be needed to determine if it was operable. I don't think he would have lived long enough to endure the long surgery. He clearly wasn't believed when he said he was shot. I can't understand why he wasn't taken to the hospital first.
What a jerk, the young man said he was shot the cop should have checked him at the beginning and now he's dead . Shame on that cop for treating him like a criminal.
I’m so angry at how this detective handled the situation. There was no reason he wasn’t taken immediately to the hospital, and he wasted so much valuable time.
Hearing Ryan repeat "I want to go to sleep" is haunting, knowing that it means his body is giving up, and Ryan is actually pleading for permission to die.
@@mellontheuprisemill6905not really. People feel like going to sleep in multiple medical emergencies like concussions, blood loss, hypothermia. I doubt the brain asks you to end it this way but it’s definitely not a good sign
@@zhnsheel Having dropped dead in the hospital, can confirm...that your body tries to put you to sleep so you don't die awake. It's a horrible feeling.
the thing that sickens me about this case is that ryan saying he wants to go to sleep just makes me uneasy because thats his body indicating that it wants to give up and die, i have a similar experiance with my mother when i was 8, but my uncle shot her in her heart this time and she was somehow still alive, she went to the hospital but was questioned by the lapd. she kept on saying i wnat to go to sleep, but the messed up thing is that me and my brother were really sad when she said that stuff, 2 hours later she died.😔
The fact that the dude was shot straight in the eye and the detective took that long to figure it out really says a lot about how good of a detective he is
That was my thought as well. How good of a detective can this guy be, if he can’t figure out, within the first 5-10 minutes of listening to Ryan not making sense at all and in combination with the way his face looks, that Ryan seems to have a serious head injury? Or maybe he (“detective”) was thinking, “Maybe I can get him to confess, while he is still out of it from getting beat up. Heck as long as I don’t forget to read him his rights, everything goes, right?!”
His tactic was torturing him for a long time having to go through booking first handcuffing him not giving him any medical attention or food to get him to “tell the truth” because of a statistic that says the boyfriend or girlfriend is usually the killer.
I really thought the police officers were trained to read people and their behaviors. How can the list officer even think 9f bringing him to the station rather than the Hospital
@@cam-hr1pz 90% of gunshots to the head are fatal. Thank you for making my point! That’s all I’m trying to say, gunshots to the head usually (90%) kill, so why are so many people so quick to believe him? A gunshot to the head doesn’t usually (90%) involve the victim talking to investigators.
@@cam-hr1pz So, why not assume then that he, Ryan maybe is one of the 10% who survive? There are cases who survive we know, and 10% is pretty big number anyway! Too big to neglect it and to not check it up; for the sake of safety and security!
I have spent the last 44 years in EMS and have never seen a law enforcement officer/department have a policy where they take someone in for questioning without medically clearing them first. This is insanity at all levels. This kids parents will own this town after the lawsuit settles.
The police officer never got any consequences at all, they somehow paid a slimy disgusting doctor with no morals enough money to say that waiting six hours after being shot had no effect on his injuries
I've been watching a lot of body cam stuff recently, and they always take people to the hospital right away even if they just yanked too hard on their cuffs.
This broke my heart. . . An innocent kid, who was attacked, unprovoked, essentially died because some moron couldn't see the painfully obvious signs of brain trauma. I'm not anti-cop, but man does this break my heart. The people that you trust to uphold the law and protect human life, is the reason an innocent life was eventually lost. Rest in peace Ryan.
I'm near in tears watching this. I fell SO bad for this young man. This is just awful. His family should sue the police department and the specific officer who interrogated him.
Ehhh I would not go that far. They showed up to his place and shot him and killed his girl over some past altercations. You saw those guys. He associates with or crossed those dudes somehow and they did all that as a retaliation? I'm guessing this kid isn't exactly a "nice guy".
Detective: “What was an accident?” Ryan: “Heathers last name?” take him to a hospital. he was the victim, for Christ sake, he’s not dangerous or anything
Can you imagine being this young man's parents and watching this? I don't know how anyone who loved this guy didn't go psych on these officers. This is heartbreaking.
AGREED and I'm wondering if they're just waiting it out a little bit before bringing the karma wrath down! Not gonna lie kind of hoping that's the case because this is monstrous of these corrupt "law men"
@@bbllaakkeeee yeah I’d think that would make em think twice about toying with peoples lives. But then again some of these cops and criminals for that matter are sick individuals so who knows
How crazy is that detective? You can clearly see the injury to this young man's eye. He told the cops he was shot, but they don't call an ambulance???! This is insane... I swear it makes you wonder how some people even make it past the police academy.
These cops are so ignorant. You're a cop, not a doctor, and i might add, a really bad one! If someone tells you they're injured, you just believe them and request medical care, questions come later.
I don't understand how a "detective" that doesn't even contemplate that a suspect that is mumbling, incoherent, disperse, sleepy, stressed out, with a huge red mark on his face, and saying he was shot in the eye, could actually be telling the truth, can even be called a detective. I don't understand how he can be called anything but a moron for that matter.
You can see that Bryan had an enjured eye why wasn't he checked at the hospital? The detective should have notice this being so close to him you can see gun powder burns plus black eye give me a break. Hope this experience will teach him and other law imforcement officers to do the right thing.
@@gaysy1st Yeah probably but thats just incompetence and IMO criminal incompetence since a person died that might have lived. If you become an police officer you have certain rights but also duties and if you cant fullfill them than dont become one in the first police or change your job since you putting other lifes in danger (as you can see in this cases) He should be charged at least with something "negligence that results in death" Im pretty shure that or something similar exists in the USA. but probably nothing will come out expect a soryy and 2 weeks paid/unpaid vacation at most
Yeah I mean his job usually is to find out about things that people rather not have uncovered. And here, he failed to even recognize something that was in plain sight AND the victim showed clear signs of being injured.
Because the detective has a career which involves dealing with inhuman people ALL THE TIME and at that moment in time Ryan , being the boyfriend and living there, was the prime suspect and usually prime suspects who end up guilty lie through their teeth. It was the detective's job to get the truth, he's not a doctor
I used to work as a lawyer and I think this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen. This is SOOOO sad to watch. The poor guy dying and essentially being tortured, caught in a living nightmare.
The fact he obviously had a serious injury....like missing a damn eye....but they interrogated him instead of immediately taking to the hospital, is absolutely insane.
@@justinallen500mfs wanted to arrest THE VICTIM. They just need to put someone in jail and its over. The justice system is rigged by rich people, and it ain't even a conspiracy theory its been proven a long time ago.
This is completely surreal. Every single officer that was involved and didn't give him any medical attention should get fired and be in prison for negligence.
As a med student, I felt bad. He showed many clear signs of brain damage, from pain, doziness, causeless overwhelming state, confusion in perceiving information and speaking… Being a suspect or not, they should be still allowed to get emergency healthcare when in endangered state. Those cops and detective deserved to be punished for being so ignorant
As a previous high school athlete, he showed many clear signs of brain damage. Our yearly required concussion protocol that no one pays attention to and lasts 15 minutes got the point across that everything he was displaying was a brain injury. You have to be like an infant child who hasn't experienced the world yet to not notice the clear signs in this situation
As a good person or a student this detective needs to be imprisonned and the if the suspect got brutal injured the suspect needs to get the medical cares if they want to talk about it, why they wont go to the hospital and talk it them. This is too cruel poor dude
You have to understand, the average cop basically only knows two things: how to interrogate and how to punch their spouse/partner. Asking them to learn how to do a third thing would be simply too much cognitive load for them to handle. They would probably have a stroke just trying. That's why they irrationally fear fent; anything that isn't assaulting a spouse or mistreating a suspect only generates an extreme emotional response. If you end up working in an ER, you'll learn what I mean.
The fact that the officer was more intrigued on getting him arrested and prosecuted looking over the fact that he needed a doctor is just disgusting and disappointing. That young man would be alive today if they did their job correctly. May he RIP. 😢
Well technically Ryan took his own life. So not taking him to hospital wasn’t the reason he died, but he still might of died eventually because of it anyway though. Still he should’ve been to hospital quick.
@@megashadow3789 My mistake. The video said one took his own life, So I thought that was his name. Instead of saying he died from the seizure. I’m use to people saying what they died of. Either way I did agree that the cop should’ve took him to medical right away. Either way thanks for pointing out my mistake. I misunderstood what guy meant on video
Exactly what I said. In such a hurry to get to the bottom of what happened trying to get him to admit he done it. Isn't Detectives trained in looking for clues by watching body language? I don't think the man passed and remind me never play charades with him! The guy was doing his best to put a sentence together for him to understand and he didn't think that was odd?? I watched this on Mr. Ballen channel a few months back. I didn't remember he passed away 😢
Cops are happy to interrogate suspects that need medical treatment. Which is against protocol apparently... They should be taking him to the hospital to get checked out first, but they get better results for talking to people who are suffering. It mostly happens with drug addicts going through withdrawal. Even if you ask for a lawyer they'll keep interrogating you before the lawyer comes, which is also not legal...
Probably the dmg already done to his brain, he couldn't remember or something like that. My dad has a similar case, he couldn't remember sometimes remember, sometimes couldn't speak sometime can. idk I'm not a doctor I could be wrong

This guy's girlfriend was murdered, he got shot in the eye and he was interrogated by what it seems like the least competent detective there is. Sometimes life is just too damn cruel.
I’m just so confused like isn’t the first thought when you see a victim who has been shot to bring them to a hospital isn’t that what they usually do so why in the fuck was he being interrogated after being shot? I’d love to know because it’s bs.
@@hayleygalati9914 fr they act like he's the criminal instead of the victim who seriously got shot in the eye. couldn't the 'interrogater' know he'd been shot if he had a whole ass wound on his face??
Brain dead detectives assumed that because heather was dead on the couch, and he was the only other one home, they assumed he killed her. Which resulted in him being treated as a suspect. Exactly why detectives and cops like this need to be reprimanded, and stripped of their badge. They dont deserve to be on the force. This should be criminal.
To be fair, acting doesn't have to mean simulating. At that point, it sounds like he means it as "his actions indicate brain damage", although that obviously doesn't excuse the detective's previous actions. I rewatched it after commenting, and he even says "which would make sense". Nothing about faking it.
@@ericforsythI would argue that “acting” definitely comes with the connotation of behaving in a way that isn’t genuine. “Behaving like someone with brain injuries would” is a much better neutral substitute for “acting.”

I totally agree, it's a terrible world, everyday is just full lots of bad news. Its just getting worse with violence in this world. I can't believe the detective didn't notice Ryan was having severe health problems. What an asshole. Poor Ryan
Shocking how easily one person bullying or beating someone can effect the care they receive elsewhere, part of ptsd and ongoing trauma, see it every day, and is the biggest way that abusers have to get away with their crimes for so long. First on the scene with the police should have been an ambulance due to the dead body they found which might not even have been dead at that time, plenty of people get shot and live also! What were children that age doing living away from home anyway, they could have been stolen or trafficked or lost in the system or anything 😔
No tunnel vision, they know he's not right! There's no accountability. Get guilty admission, less work even if not accurate, then qualified immunity protects ya
I read up more about the case. The more I read the more disgusted I get. The Arizona police were tampering with evidence and got lawsuit against themselves dismissed. The weasel judge agreed with the expert testimony the Arizona police gave about Ryan's condition not being made worse by the interrogation. The amount of corruption, in this case, was just insane...
Regardless if the injury was made worse from the interrogation, could he not have gotten a lawsuit for being neglected and left in intense pain? It may even be considered unlawful detainment.
@@supermadducky6287 Except its wasn't considered unlawful detainment. That's my point, the dad sued the Arizona police department. Ryan’s father sued the Phoenix Police Department, and the interrogator who dealt with Ryan was charged with evidence tampering and fabricating stories about events to do with the case.
This is a dangerous mindset of going into an investigation WITHOUT an open mind. He heavily suspected Ryan of killing Heather after being bashed in the eye and stuck to his guts, no matter how Ryan is reacting and what was said. He only wanted Ryan to admit to what he thinks is the scenario. This detective should genuinely not work ever again as this may put other innocent people to jail in other cases
Investigators when interrogating you already believe your guilty and are just trying to get a confession from you. It’s very possible that this detective just like many other detectives saw this person as a guilty person and thought he was faking his injury or faking symptoms.

It's really crazy how he said "You'd most likely be dead" stating the fact that someone would usually die but that there is a rare chance someone survives as Ryan did.

When I went back to the doctors after a day because the pain and disorientation got worse, and checked my blood pressure, that's when the doc realized I was about to die. And were actually surprised I was able to respond to them and wabbled my way to the office.
It is the responsibility and the duty of the police who arrived at that home to Make sure that man is transported by EMS to the hospital to be checked out by a doctor just in case he has a life-threatening injury. This is unacceptable.
I was a trauma nurse and police have brought detainees in to be medically cleared for much less than this. The police should have taken him to the ER first for clearance, especially if he looks that way and says he was shot in the eye. This is why cops get a bad rap unfortunately. It’s appalling.
The cop in this video mocks him for saying he was shot in the eye and goes "What, with a BB gun?" Holy effing shit. Even that was the case, it would mean that the guy needs to be checked by medical professionals ASAP. Like getting a BB through the eye isn't something that warrants instant medical attention. Also for context Ryan was completely innocent. His apartment was broken into. He was shot twice in the head and lost consciousness. His girlfriend was shot and killed by the perpetrators. When Ryan awoke, he was in such a poor mental state from his injuries that he thought his girlfriend was simply asleep on the couch when she was actually dead. when i had septic shock, the doc didn't say tell me it was septic shock instead they told it it was a stomach flu because I was able to talk to the doctors but in reality I was just really disorientated and couldn't think properly. Just because I was able to talk properly does not mean I was still currently in immense pain.
Then you have the good cops who insist paramedics look at the suspect's scraped knee because the suspect slipped in a corn field trying to flee.
The cop in this video mocks him for saying he was shot in the eye and goes "What, with a BB gun?"
Holy effing shit. Even that was the case, it would mean that the guy needs to be checked by medical professionals ASAP. Like getting a BB through the eye isn't something that warrants instant medical attention.
Given that the guy looks the way he does, it's utterly inhumane to not allow him instant access to a doctor and a checkup. Even a murder suspect doesn't deserve getting blind in one eye through police neglect.
@@h.a.9880guilty until proven innocent is clearly at play here. Seems the investigator has it in him to be a pro at water boarding n such.

When her parents hadn't heard from her, they called police for a wellness check I think. And that's when they found her and took Ryan into custody. There's several videos about this case. Edit: I probably got a few of the details wrong but I do remember seeing a video on this case and from what I remember Ryan was most definitely innocent.
