Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). Lucie in France, only 13yo, also did a perfect cover of the same song in The Voice Kids or some other renditions. I don’t like the marketing of Andre Rieu and the fact he put the original singer and songwriter, the stunning Barbara Pravi, in the shadows, he prefers to put his name upfront, as always. When you do a cover, you should mention the original singer. Otherwise it it Is inelegant. Barbara Pravi finished 2nd at Eurovision with thisnsong and wrote and sang many other masterpieces since then. Check her song Bravo for instance.
