    I don't like Major, but he commited to this with dignity. The second Iraq operations on the other hand under Blaire government was criminal. Disgrace. He should've gone to jail.

      As decent a person as any Prime Minister since WW2, along with Clement Attlee, Jim Callaghan, and Alec Douglas-Home. Men with very different backgrounds and beliefs, but all with great integrity and compassion. Perfect? No, they were not just humans, they were politicians!

    Soldiers were not well equipped, the US was kind enough to donate lot's of kit to the UK. That is the Major who signed our sovereignty away at Maastricht, never forget that !

    John Major was anti war, anti NHS privatisation and pro EU- and he considered himself a proud conservative.
    See how far the right British politics has shifted?

      @@aaronb2779 no the reason he lost is 3 reasons:
      - Party civil war that was quite irrelevant at the time
      - All the millennials who had been brainwashed by schools got old enough to vote
      - Major didn’t attack Blair enough even with a good campaign.

      @@marillomontano6604 This is true, I sometimes forget that. What we have is great, though there are gaps in our capability - logistical mostly, and the numbers we have are worrying. We tend to have high capability items, but low numbers, and numbers have a capability of their own.

      @@Phil_AKA_ThundyUK What you are saying is true. Your Type 45 destroyers are very impressive (even considered the *best* AAW ship by many including myself) but 6 is simply not enough. But things are changing now, the upcoming Type 31 is cheap enough to be produced in significant numbers in the future. Not to mention the Type 32 that your government have mentioned a couple of weeks ago. Your upcoming Type 26 are great ASW ship but they are too expensive to procure. The gigantic HMS QE and POW are also a testament of your power at high seas. Like I said, you still have it in you. Be proud and have faith in your government and military.

      @Phil_AKA_ThundyUK 3 года назад +1

      @@marillomontano6604 Aye, I am looking forward to the Type 32 getting more detail. This is a major area we lack at the moment in the Royal Navy - cheap (relatively!) frigate class ships to monitor shipping lanes, deter low power but numerous foreign aggressors, and so forth. As you say there's the 45s and 26s are great, but as an asset they're too expensive to produce en masse and deploy in large numbers. Frigates for the win. :)
