In-short:
7800X3D = Best for gaming
7950X3D = Best for gaming and work
7800X3D - best for gaming
7950X - best for work
7950X3D - jack of all trades
yes i need work + par tart-time gaming
99% of times when 7800x3d is faster than 7950x3d it's only about a handful of FPS. For production on the other hand, the 7950x3d is almost always faster, sometimes even crushing the 7800x3d by almost 100%.
If you only play video games, get the 7800x3d.
If you also do other stuff (rendering, etc.) get the 7950x3d. Then you have 98%-102% the performance in gaming, and 100 - 200% the performance for productive work.
Simple as that.
Thanks I got the 7950x3D with 6800Mhz CL 32 ram, a good choice?
@@reglissjordan yes. low cl with high mhz.
What are some other tasks/programs where you'd see this, aside from rendering?
Not debating, genuinely curious as I'm on the fence which one to get.
@@reglissjordanwhat's your GPU?
7800 also good for streaming and gaming ?
Ryzen 7 7800X3D is good if you just use it for gaming.
Ryzen 9 7950X3D is good for gaming and multitasking, if you are gonna stream and play this is your pick.
If i want rendering and work in 3d software? which cpu is better?
@danko.film7560 between those 2? 7950x3d for sure. But remember, you need a good GPU as well.
who the hell only games tho lol
tysm! this really helped because everywhere i look, it says amd for gaming and intel for video editing, but what if i wanna do both?
How the hell is the r7 faster than r9 at gaming😭
It's because of how the cache works in ryzens
@lumifrost 7950x3d has 2 ccd lanes compared to 7800x3d as one ccd lane so basically. The 7950x3d has vcache on only one ccd lane. Other ccd lane is for multitasking and non gaming scenarios. But in my opinion if your buying a 3d cpu your buying it because you want to play games. So I believe it should be on both ccd’s if it was on both the benchmarks wouldn’t be close with proper cooling.
@jvess3297 if you buy an x3d chip you could also be doing cad, or anything heavy work related. Its that windows scheduling uses 8 for games, and 8 for everything else.
Its basically the same the 7800x3d is about only 2 to 3 percent faster at fps but the 7950x3d does everything else better and much faster watch all bench marks its the perfect work and gaming cpu in one i dont see how people r missing this
Less cores but better single core performance, better performance in games but not in multithreaded apps
Quick and to the point. Thank you.
If only Windows was made to properly schedule the non-vcache cores and put most if not all of the services and whatever tasks and left VCache cores alone for gaming that's where you would see a slight advantage in 7950x3D.
+7800x3D has more L3 cache but -400MHZ on each VCache core compared to the 7950x3D.
7950x3D is a great CPU especially if you use Linux actually because the scheduling there is not only better but also it allows for more manual control over it.
This CPU (7950x3D) was not made for pure gaming, it was made to game and do other significantly heavy tasks at the same time.
you can force it yourself it already made youtubers look like clown when they reviewed the 3950x threadripper Linus saw the game process jump cores and stutter but he either don't even know that very basic trick or he didn't think about it, you can force whatever process you have running to whatever thread of your choosing with cpu affinity an internal feature of windows you can do it with task manager, you will want process lasso as you can create constant profiles for games or background apps like OBS...I'm doing this since battlefield 3 it's a problem that exist since more than 8 cores cpus were made AMD or not...still waiting for a youtuber supposedly pro to explain people that DX11 or less games cannot use more than 8 threads most of the time 4 THREADS not cores...only DX12 games can use 16 threads plus that's basic gaming tweak knowledge that somehow got lost after 2010 all of this you can easily see and prove yourself with rivatuner GUI kind of what I did in my last epoch wattage video
@@fredEVOIX Stop.
Process Lasso has an issue with this CPU specifically, (and how do i know, i yeah i know it) where forcing some programs or games to use specific cores without a delay will cause them to either misbehave, or cause a few seconds stutter before locking the entire system up(Firefox being one of them when you set it to work on the non-VCache cores after hours among a few others i am forgetting now because i remember testing them individually 4 months ago), without CPU Lasso doing this, the system is otherwise always 100% stable never having any issue whatsoever, which is why you can't just use Crosses Lasso and call it a day.
With taskset in Arch Linux on the other hand, i've never had this issue, so it's a Process Lasso specific issue.
Which is why in Windows, when the game's engine allows it via some configuration file, like WoW and Smite which i play, i lock it down to my first 8 cores and everything's fine.
Would 16 cores improve gaming load times and make Windows faster? I know 7800x3D is great for gaming, but wanted to know would more cores make my PC move more fluidly. Been using Geforce Now and noticed they're using a 16 cores. Feels more responsive and engaging though its all streamed. GFN been making me want to invest in higher tier components.
Microsoft fixed the scheduler and AMD fixed their drivers. What a difference 3 weeks makes! I think I'm getting 7950X3D as I also use my machine for work.
7950x3D is considered 5% faster, his benchmarks are a bit off. Make sure you are - curve optimizing your cpu "i run -22 on all 4 of my top used cores. and -28 on the last 12 cores" i got another 400mhz at almost all work loads. "my 7950x3D would bench and does benchmark about %7 higher then his. i also have a 4090 and 64gb 6000mhz
Sick build. I have a 7800x3d 4070 super 32gb 2tb ssd liquid cooled cpu
What's a great motherboard and case for the 7950? I am looking to go RGB White
I agree, even in games, how a stock 5250 clock speed 3D chip with 128m 3D cache could be slower than a stock 5050 clock speed cpu with 96M 3D cache ?
Again proving that most of us with flagship gpus and cpus dont game in 1080p and wont care. 7950x3d wins everywhere else so why wouldnt we get it to go with our 4080 supers and 4090s when we are gaming at 4k with very little 1440p ultra gaming and practically no 1080p gaming. None of the top5 cpu's show any difference at 4k due to heing gpu heavy and utilizing 99% of the gpu and very little of the cp.
Because you waste your money if you use it for gaming only, so stop crying about a cpu thats better than yours.
7800x3d still beats the 7950x3d in 1440p and 4k with the same graphics card... it is just superior with gaming not productivity
If you just game... Ryzen 73D.
If you game, stream, edit, etc. Ryzen 93D ...However! we, regular people can be alright with the 73D.
Messuring frames is just a part of knowing which one is better....
i was about to buy a 73d but i stream my games aswell is it that much difference?
@@yuno7135 Buy the 7 x3D... I take back what I said. This CPU is amazing. Are you buying an nVidia GPU? those are the best for life streaming. however.. I did test a stream using my 7800 X 3D and it works perfect as well. ( a lil lower FPS, Like 10-15 frames but who cares really) I will stream today with my rig for you to see. I have AM5, 64GB RAM (6000 Mhz) and a 4070 super.
Plus for twitch you can just push up to 6000 Mps per second so even a potato PC can make it(not recomended) I will stream via youtube 2K with my CPU and 2K with my nVidia GPU. Stay tune...ill do 1080 as well.
@@yuno7135 OK DONE. Go watch my last 3 streams. You can skip to the gaming part and look at the benchmarks.
Again I have a
AM5
Ryzen 7 7800x3D
64GB RAM 6000MHz
4070 super
I hope this help you see this CPU is worth. take care
@@yuno7135 go watch my last 3 stream.. I made them for you. I hoe they help you make the decision.... Long stoyry short BUY IT! 7800X3D is the best!
@@yuno7135 im atrying to anser but something is erasing my comments. :(
I made 3 stream this AM for you to see how it works... I recommend you uy the 7800X3D its better than what I thouh
There is no reason to do a CPU test in 4K...
So, apart from H364-encoding why choose R9 over R7? And isn't 4K more GPU than CPU?
For 1440p/ 360fps Fortnite should I pair up a Ryzen 7 7800x3d with an RTX 4080 super or the rx 7800 xt that everyone talks about so much?
Am about to go with rx 7800xt, not a big difference in performance, which depends on game to game. But pretty big difference in money, at least in my country. This will be my go to gpu for the next couple years
@ascendance907 fair bro! Are you pairing it with the 7800x3d also?
I think I'm convinced too bro, the extra vram will be worth it in the long run too
only real difference is the 7950x3d has 4 more pcie lanes than the 7800x3d
Now edit some videos and see which one wins
7950X3D all day!
no lasso for the test so hard to really do something with those numbers
Basically 7950X3D is a 7800X3D plus a 7700X side by side glued on the same silicon but unlike an Intel I9 Windows doesn't seem to know the one it should use and when. Worse it seems that it doesn't know either how to use them both at the same time.
The 4090 bottleneck is massive ;-; to test CPU, set GRAPHICS settings on lowest possibile.
?
Did someone not realize you must do a full fresh install of windows when switching amd processors ?
when will these stupid CPU testers understand that the CPU does not need to be tested at 4k?🤡🤡🤡🤡 that in this case the FPS is limited by the GPU
nah, there are games where cpu at 4k still limits gpu
@@bigben9056 I'm talking about the weather and you're talking about transgender people, you're the same as the author of the video, your brains have left the chat... because if you put 4k at in 90% games Ryzen 5 can show the same result as Ryzen 9, it's better to be silent and don't show your stupidity
Bro HOWWWW
?
@@AugmentedGravity don't remember mate, got the 7800X3D though 👍
1% LOW?
Я думаб тут просто видеокарту узкое место... Поэтому 7950 не модет показать всю свою мощь
On a 4090 in 1080p? No chance
Bittlenecked by 4090 in 1080p? No way😂
Bro wtf are u talking about
how are you getting a GPU bottleneck on a 4090
Only one CCD has 3DvCache on the 7900x3d and 7950x3d, so technically more cores on the 7800x3D actually benefit from the 3DvCache 8 vs 6 on the 7900x3D, and with it having less cores than a 7950x3D them temps tend to be lower allowing for better/stronger boost algorithms on the 7800x3D, when compared to the 7950x3D
Get the ryzen 4070 bruh
Pierwszy
I just bought a 7950x3d myself and now i find out there is a better chip for $150 less 😂. Like what even was the point of releasing 7950x3d if they had a better chip all along. Oh i guess to get uneducated people like me, sigh. So scummy but its an L I will have to take.
In any case, is there any way the 7950x3d is better? are the extra cores it has just slacking on the job?
The highest end chips from amd and Intel are not values for gaming and never have been lol.
If you're a gamer and you also do production work/multitasking, then you picked the right cpu. The 7800x3d can't keep up with the 7950x3d outside of gaming.
@@thybigballs yeah for sure. My deal breaker was relying on gamebar to disable cores tho. If it was anyone but Microsoft it wouldn't be a big deal lmao. Hopefully they have an integrated scheduler on future cpus
@@thybigballsI respect your RUclips handle 🫡
It's NOT better at all.
