"I have so much money that I can afford to buy ugly" is definitely a thing. Lots of designer items, clothes, purses, watches are like that. There's also the Bentley Bentega.
XM= try not looking at me. Bmw nailed it totally for next generation of influencers, LV enthusiasts and few car enthusiasts. Brutalist design done to perfection. ❤Bmw.

I had an XM to demo for a weekend. I didn’t like it. I think the X5M is a much better vehicle and it costs a lot less. By the way guys, the XM isn't an M Performance vehicle like you mentioned throughout the video, it, like the X5M is a full on M vehicle. Also, 👍 for turning the amount of ads way down.
A rolling, irreverent, ambivalence inducing spectacle of modern German Engineering! I hate it, but I love it! Automobiles rarely inspire such emotion. Wunderbar !!!
I think it looks great, but I wouldn't have it in boring black. Unfortunately, when I drove it, I didn't get anything more from it than my X5 M50i, which was $6,000 cheaper. 😉
conservative people are by definition slow to change. bmw has recently been challenging design with avant garde techniques which eventually become classics.
I disagree about it being ugly. The mercedes you showed looked boring. The porsche's design has gotten old. BMW is the only one really innovating, with maybe Cadillac close behind.
Nope I think this is an amazing looking vehicle. Especially once you tint the front windows. And an amazing vehicle. Looks like a reality concept vehicle.
There are no reliable RUclips reviewers out there, especially in the English-speaking world. It's hard to find channels that offer professional insights. Even some newcomers with limited knowledge and subjective opinions have millions of subscribers, flooding the platform with their content. They should all close their channels. Today, I went to the dealer for my M3 CS new model's break-in service and had the opportunity to test drive the XM (with 23-inch and 22-inch wheels). Wow, this was an insanely well-crafted vehicle. Especially the XM with 22-inch wheels had an amazing ride comfort. While the XM with 23-inch wheels had a slight uncomfortable stiffness during rebound (similar to what I felt in the X5 M), the engine, transmission, damping, and the vehicle's body control for such a large and heavy car were outstanding. It's unlikely that the Cayenne GTS or Turbo can match this performance (I'm not sure about the Turbo GT). Even with a discount, paying $150,000 for a car of this quality is beyond belief. It's truly the best. There's no other SUV competing at this level below $200,000. Not even the Urus or RSQ8 show this level of performance. I wonder what else could be out there? The X6 M seems unrivaled or even non-existent. It's not just about the 0-60 mph time. Lol.

Our guys complimented most of the things you mentioned, engine, dynamics, body control, luxury and the performance for this much weight were all mentioned. @@TestDriveVideos I praised your channel. Why are you getting so triggered and overreacting? lol, It's not even funny. Are you one of those two guys' wife who left a comment?
It's missing the bronze trim that the M5CS has. put that on instead of the red line and it will be .. horribly stunning. This is the perfect Frankenstein. Slap a crazy M engine/front end and hang an 7 series rear seat. hmm....
love the videos and hearing the guys give opinions but I must say watching them drive along and seeing all the HIDEOUS McMansions plopped all over the gorgeous Colorado scenery saddens me to great degree
In other words this wildly expensive piece of ocular vomit can't hang with a Jeep Trackhawk from 2018 even with the advantage of 5+ years of development and an electric motor to assist. BMW needs serious help in all ways.
This feels like the near culmination of every awful automotive trend of the past decade. Crude, ugly design, unnecessarily large, unnecessarily fast, 1000% deadlier. Just put a tiny pickup bed on it that can barely haul groceries and you have the bingo.
I can't help but be somewhat annoyed that this over-$160,000 XM that costs more than my first house shares the stainless steel pedals with my wife's previous $50,000 330i M Sport. I think that, for all the engineering wizardry, the price tag demands more attention to detail. The interior does, in fact, look very nice, but to me, $160,000+ means we should get concept-car-esque levels of style. Oh, and the entire concept of this car as an M car is strange. An over-6000-pounds M car seems antithetical to the M brand.
I struggle to see how the XM is worth $30k more than the X5M Comp. For that extra $30k you get worse looks (arguably) and less performance (measurably).
Our guys have driven most everything over the last 16 years, and Paul has a background in car design, so they bring a lot of varied experience here. Additionally, we know the X6 has been successful, but we still dislike it. And plenty of odd/bad/ugly cars have been successes over the years - we shall see with this XM. Thanks for watching!
Hi, from Japan!! Oh, you tried the budget ugly. Great!! I often think why BMW makes ugly cars when they release new cars but here is wonder of BMW. I can accept the ugly and strange points of the cars little by little somehow . I would love this XM face in my future. We Japanese people think the kidney grill looks like pig nose rather than beaver teeth.
Do the suckers who paid (at least) $170,000 for this hideous 6,000+Lb lump have to sneak up on gas pumps so that they don't run away in fright?! Sheesh....rich people will buy ANYTHING, as long as it shows that they have money. BTW: Imagine smashing a 23" low profile tire into a pothole with 3 tons of SUV.
These guys are as honest as they come and one of the best in the business! Always look forward to their reviews.
Glad you enjoy what we do. Thank you for watching!
It looks like a beast! Love it
I honestly like BMW's new styling. Everybody else's car looks exactly the same. This car looks really good to me 🤷🏾♂️
Guess I’m in the minority but I truly love the look. It is unique and it has a look of an angry SUV… which I love.

Ugly and weird = low sales = exclusivity.

This car looks super bad ass!
I think it’s looks cool. Mad Max in a tux.
It’s beauty And the beast.
As a designer I think it’s a design cluster-F that somehow works.
As a consumer, I just shake my head. Kids these days!
i saw the iX in person and it has presence. cant imagine this on the road.
Definitely something I would get just because I had the money.
I don’t understand what’s so ‘ugly’ about this? I think it’s very cool looking, very menacing, absolutely awesome.
Hmmm. How old are you? The Pontiac Aztec design queues are amazing.

Why are reviewers calling this car ugly? I love the design - must be a generational thing.
conservative people are by definition slow to change. bmw has recently been challenging design with avant garde techniques which eventually become classics.
Is there a definition of "precise steering" as opposed to steering having feedback? How can a driver be precise if there is little to no feedback?
Best M ever

Very engaging, and entertaining review.
It's like a pig from Angry Birds having a cyberpunk phase.
"M Lounge" is literally everything wrong with the BMW M division in the last ~5 years.
It's a deconstructed car - and I like it. I would never buy it, but it will be a hit. BMW finally dared doing something really new.
Am i the only one who thinks the xm looks good?

It’s just that car enthusiasts are getting older lol, it happens with all generations.

Is horse power driving the price upward? You can't use all that power on the street but it's a market for these high price car.

What the hell is BMW thinkin'? Is Chris Bangle involved in any of the designs?
It makes me happy thay these are already a sales flop, piling up kn dealer lots and selling well below MSRP already.
