A museum called the Indira Gandhi Memorial was built in honor of Indira Gandhi, the first and only female prime minister of India. It is located in the same building where Gandhi and her family resided while she was prime minister and was assassinated.Material artifacts belonging to Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi are on display at the museum.
INDIRA GANDHI-
From 1966 to 1977 and again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984, Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi, an Indian politician and stateswoman, held the position of third prime minister. She was born in November 1917 and passed away on October 31, 1984. In addition to serving as the first and only female prime minister of India, she was also the head of the Indian National Congress (INC), making her a significant figure in Indian politics. She was the mother of Rajiv Gandhi, the sixth prime minister of India, and the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation's first prime minister. Gandhi is currently the second-longest-serving Indian prime minister, behind her father, with a total tenure of 15 years and 350 days. "Iron Lady" was how Henry Kissinger referred to her.
