Hello Lynden.Going from playing songs to joining a windband is such a jump.I discovered that adding chords and words to sheet music helped me so much. With timing and phrasing.Keep up the good work.phil
Hello. Thanks for the tips for people who are in difficulties with this. I have some young players that doesn't like to play with metronome. I proposed to play with a "pum chack" battery backing track (I don't know the word in english 😂). Sudenly they accept and feel more confortable. Regards
Holy Moly or good golly miss molly ... (phrasing :) .... You did it again. I just made friends with my metronome based on your tip to start my relationship with it with the C scale. Thanks
this was soooooooo easy to understand as is usual with your channel content by coincidnce i am trying to learn take five so now i will search for the lyrics and hope it will help me improve, just going to check out your web site it sounds really interesting, thanks for all your hard work your the man bro..Peter...Alicante..Spain
Lynden, You're doing something here that I would have thought impossible! How do you make that metronome tick in even time?? Every time I've ever tried using a traditional metronome like that, it ticks in shuffle time--even when it's on a measurably level surface. Please, sir: your secret.
@@lyndenblades I've put the one I have now on our kitchen counter, and our small Baldwin Grand, and it still goes; short-long, short-long, short-long, all day long.
@ of course but there’s something lovely about having a traditional clockwork one. I think they’re wonderful. Perhaps yours is just damaged in some way.
Hi Lynden. I'm still a bit unclear about the difference between phrasing and timing. Your exaggerated example of a bad Moondance was bad because of bad timing it seemed. Was it also badly phrased? Your 'good' Moondance has lovely emphasis on certain notes (WONderful NIGHT for a MOON DANCE) - is that also phrasing??
Jan here, this is a great lesson Lynden, which my teacher touched on and You have confirmed. I must learn the lyrics and persevere at playing with a metronome. Trouble it I cant hear it above my playing ! Sent you a coffee 🤗
Thanks Lynden 👍

@@lyndenblades I don't like to do it, but I think it's time I bow to the encroachments of technology and go electronic.
