Thank you for teaching us about the “House of Essere” as a way to keep the choice of Avere vs Essere in Passato Prossimo straight! This makes it much easier. I’m really thankful that you make your grammar videos in English and your Vlogs in Italian. They are the perfect blend of two different approaches to learning this beautiful language. Grazie mille!
Thank you for this video! I've been struggling with the passato prossimo because I never knew which auxiliary verb to use, and this really explained it to me well. It is the most helpful video on this subject that I've found!
omg thank you so much!! this has been frustrating me for so long, I have watched so many videos but this is the first one that actually made me understand it!! :)
Stefano, Sono Romina di Argentina. I love your podcast and now I've just started watching all your RUclips videos. This video was really helpful! I always have problems choosing between avere or essere when speaking in past. Grazie per tutti! Ciao! :)
So glad i discovered your channel recently. I have always had an issue with transitive and intransitive verbs so i am going back to basics. So this video is awesome. Grazie
Stefano, your videos are seriously SO AMAZING! They are so helpful, you're so good at explaining and whether you're speaking english or italian doesn't matter because you rock at both! Hands down the best language-teaching channel I've come across on RUclips🤩 One little tip though: While studying italian tonight I wanted to finally learn when to use essere and avere, which is exactly what this video is about! When I searched youtube for a video about this topic though, I wrote "sono o ho teacher stefano" instead of "essere o avere". Even though I wrote your channel name and searched for it, none of your videos popped up. If I hadn't already seen many of your videos and if I wasn't already subscribed, I wouldn't have found this video by scrolling through your playlists. You definitely deserve recognition and I know lots of people would find your explanation in this video really helpful! Therefore, maybe consider adding keywords like "sono o ho" for this video? I can't be the only one searching that instead of "essere o avere" and I think having those keywords would make your video pop up for more people searching for the topic! Also, I'm slightly confused when and when not to change the last letter of a past participle to make it agree with the subject. Is it only with Essere, or should one do it with all past participles based on whether the subject is male or female and singular or plural? I would really appreciate the feedback and again, maybe adding those keywords could bring more people to your channel? I really hope it does, because you certainly deserve it for the great and useful content both here on RUclips and with your podcast. Grazie mille per tutto l'aiuto e buonasera!🌟
I am American and moved to Switzerland and learned German and French and remember learning this concept of using the verb for "to be" to conjugate this verb tense with verbs of motion and finding it so strange. I think now that I'm on my third language where this is done, I've got the hang of this :P. It seems that nearly all the Swiss national languages have this quirky feature. I wonder if Romansh has this as well.
I wonder why this developed since in Latin these compound tenses are formed with 'esse:' amaturus sum amaturus eram amaratus ero amaratus fui amaratus fueram amaratus fuissem German uses 'haben/sein' in the same way and I wonder if this is not a German grammatical impression on northern Italian dialects from occupation by the Holy Roman Empire.
Grazie mille al Maestro Stefano per questo approccio diverso alla padronanza del Passato Prossimo rispetto ad Essere e Abere. Trovo che questo approccio sia più intuitivo e si adatti bene alla spiegazione standard. L'immagine della Casa dell'Essere e infatti l'intero libro di testo sono disponibili gratuitamente in formato PDF scaricabile. Lo trovate cercando su Google il titolo del libro: Nuovo Contatto, Vol. A1.
OMG! My fifty year old brain needs to rewatch this one a few times. Man, I wish I took Spanish or Italian in High School instead of German. Would probably make this much easier 🤦🏻
Thanks so much for this! Can you please explain the difference between ho vissuto and sono vissuto? I read in my grammar book that this verb (vivere) can take both verbs but I just can't understand it. Your videos are a tremendous help, thanks!

Bit late but you only change the ending of the past participle to agree with the number and gender in the form essere
Thanks for this tutorial!

Thanks so much for this! Can you please explain the difference between ho vissuto and sono vissuto? I read in my grammar book that this verb (vivere) can take both verbs but I just can't understand it. Your videos are a tremendous help, thanks!
In Italian we say “ho vissuto” :)
@@teacherstefano Grazie mille! Studio l'italiano da sei mesi e i vostri video mi aiutano molto!
Grazie mille!!!
Wait I like when you talk the lesson in Italian 😀
Generally: When using essere, those verbs are intransitive? And when using avere, those verbs are transitive?
Most of the time yes! (Like “camminare” and “telefonare” are intransitive but still take “avere”)
@@teacherstefano Grazie. A buono lezione.
According to your explanation, you said that verbs ending with IRE shall be replaced by ITO, but why here the verb Venire it is said Venuto ?
Because it’s irregular! :)
Grazie molto :)

The font is kinda confusing
EXCELLENT!! Is it OK to say "Pedro è nato, cresciuto e morto a Roma"? or we should rather say "Pedro è nato, è cresciuto e è morto a Roma?"
Grazie!
Judging from the comments, I think I’m the only one lost here 😂
Siamo due 😂
considering I'm a woman, should I say "Mi sono fatto la doccia" or "Mi sono fattA la doccia"?????
👍👍👍
