Hey Alastair, just commenting to check if you're doing okay with the health situation right now. Also, can't wait for your next video and good luck on your tasks and projects you are undertaking right now!
Discovering this channel has made it increasingly difficult not to blow my new-car-savings on a modular rig... I've listened through like 3 hours of your stuff today.
All you need is juuuust 1 Mother 32... And actually maybe just another oscillator... Oh wouldn't it be nice to have another LFO? Maybe it would make more sense just to get a new case... It's a rabbit hole for sure lol
That is one impressive patch some lovely low end sounds popping in. Like the slight modulation of the tempo of the M32 by the Maths will have to have a go at that as have been wondering how it was possible with my simpler setup. Very nice work as per.
This is awesome. You're such an inspiration! I can listen to your channel for hours. May I ask you something? I'm still very new to Eurorack (just have a M32 for now). What I was wondering is, how do you route the audio coming from your Eurorack through your pedals and to your interface? Can the pedals and the interface handle Eurorack levels? According to your patch diagram the audio comes out of your patch bay and not from the instrument level output on the back. And you don't use any output module. Is there any external attenuator or mixer involved? Is the VCA out of your M32 simply linked to the input of your pedal with a 1/8" to 1/4" cable? Many thanks and I'd be delighted to hear more great patches from you!
I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying my stuff! Yes, Eurorack level is too hot for guitar pedals like the Eventides. I just attentuate the output with the volume knob on the M32 before it goes to the pedals (minijack to 1/4” adapter used here), nothing fancy. I’ll often use Veils (top left module) as an output mixer, and again I’ll just turn down the output level on the module before it goes into the pedals. Output modules aren’t really necessary if you have attenuators lying around because they literally just do the same thing!
@@AlastairWilsonMusic Thanks a lot for your reply. That's really helpful. It's such a great use of these awesome pedals. As you have demonstrated in other videos it's even possible to modulate some parameters from Eurorack via the expression pedal input. I really wish they would come in the Eurorack format though. Keep up the great work, it's really inspiring!
@@siebengestirn There's a huge DIY community in eurorack, for example: www.modulargrid.net/e/ninstrument-eventide-space Might be beyond your price range to get the mod done but it's always worth looking around if you find yourself wishing something was possible - because it often has been made possible by someone else already!
I've been looking online for a few years but my problem being out in the hinterlands of California there aren't any synths within a few hundred miles seriously limiting try before I buy. So....I had been thinking Rev2 or Prophet 12 to make pads, but then I heard Suzanne Ciani and thought, "That's it!" Can't go anywhere near a Buchla and wouldn't know what to do with it if I did but your system(s) seem very possible. I'm thinking Mother 32 and a Workstadt - 01 expander and if all goes well, another 32 later. Would you recommend something i might change or add? (I have a few Strymon pedals already)
Considering I've managed to make full patches with a single M32 and a couple pedals, I would say that a M32 coupled with a Werkstatt & expander would give you plenty to work with and experiment with for the time being. See if you can learn them well, and then you'll have a pretty good idea of what else to get based on what you keep finding you're missing - perhaps that is another M32, perhaps something else!
@@AlastairWilsonMusic - Thanks for the reply. It and your work with the Mother 32 (and others) gives me ideas and the confidence to give this a go. Keep up the good work!
Did you sell your other m32? I see you have more modules. I'm about to pull the trigger on a case. They didn't lie when they said this stuff's addicting.
I did - you can see what modules I have now if you click the patch diagram link in the description - because I wanted to widen up my sound palette a bit away from just 'Moog'. Addictive for sure!
@@AlastairWilsonMusic Yup just ordered a skiff w Maths. Do you think I can do some cool stuff w a mother and 1 maths? Getting a clouds clone to. I find your channel very inspiring.
I have a question! So I’m looking to build my complimentary eurorack to my m32 Dfam combo, and I found some 2hp modules I’m quite interested in, but for some reason when looking at others systems the 2hp line is not really represented in the Moog eurorack cases. So my question is as following; is there any reason for this, are the modules them self to deep?
The Moog cases allow modules up to 48mm deep, and from a brief look at the 2hp modules they seem to be a consistent 42mm, so that isn't the issue - from personal experience, I think they tend to be underrepresented because they look amazing on paper when you don't have much space and need a small module, but when you actually use them it turns out that quite a lot of flexibility and power is sacrificed to make them that small. If possible I would recommend larger, more feature-packed modules unless you're REALLY out of space or you're making a small, portable rig, etc. Just my 2c, it's down to personal preference but that's what I've found considering my own wants and preferences with modules :)
I miss your music. This is so great.
This is marvellous
There it soothes
Here it plucks
Atmosphere for a medium
Definitely miss these uploads because they hit the spot better than similar modular system-based music
I’m around even though I’m not uploading! I’m glad you’re still enjoying the music.
This kinda music inspired me to get a korg monologue for Christmas. I have no regrets!

I'm all good, thank you! Kept busy by uni work at the moment, that's all.

Get a bicycle instead. You know it makes sense.
@@wiremyear8989 Not for hauling a drum kit to gigs I'm afraid... I'm going electric at least, not that helps me buy synths.
Doooo iiiiiit...
Lol same here my cars ready to die and I keep buying gear.
I love bleeps and blooops :) thx for sharing!
Marvellous sounds.
très bons patchs _ bon son

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing your skills. This also inspires me to do more self-generated music.
Glad to hear it! I always hope I inspire people to create more music :)

Very nice!
