A commodore is a type of chair used long ago that has a hole in it. People used to use it during camping as a type of toilet, so it makes sense why instead of people on the floor, you can just use the commodore.
Thank you ❤️ super interesting that they spelled it as ‘comedore’ in the game
isn't that a commode though?
@@onerva. no isnt a commode a thing with a lot drawers on it?

It’s fucking crazy to me how many layers this meme has. Jerma, early 2000’s, FNAF, nonsensical lyrics… it’s everything
Comedore is a very old word for bathroom in English when referring to modern bathrooms. Circa mid 1800s to about the 1960s. But it originally referred to the og piss rooms pre modern toilets in which a somewhat fancy chair had a hole in it. Which for some went to a chamber pot or to a hole in the ground/ wall (in case for castles)
Mostly a upper class word
Source for that?

The word 'comedore' isn't actually Spanish. The correct spelling is 'comedor'. So I'd say that the creators of the game either don't know Spanish or don't know how to pronounce 'Commodore' and they dislike that videogame company for some reason.
Yeah, that word also exists in Portuguese tbh
I remember this word being used quite a bit in the 2000s. It's basically just a more polite / fancy way to say toilet, and nobody ever questioned where it came from. It's like the word "capiche."
Commodore is actually not a videogame company, it was a home computer maker and manufacturer back in the 1970s and 1980s. They are known for the Commodore PET, Commodore VIC-20, and most famously, the Commodore 64, which was the best selling computer back in the 1980s and 1990s. I gotta say though the Commodore 64 had amazing hardware for the time it was released at (1982), it definitely had wayyyy better sound and graphics than the NES.
@@viralbox9216 By videogame company I meant hardware videogame company. Knowing this is from the late 90s-early 2000s the most probable thing, if they are truly referring to Commodore, is that they are talking about the Amiga CD32, a notably bad videogame console, which would make sense why they are telling you to pee on it.
@@_MrMoney Ah, alright. I didn't know there was another Commodore company.
I remember reading this playground chant in an old book:
"Toreador,
Don't spit on the floor,
Use the cuspidor,
That's what it's for."
I imagine that the version found in the game was perhaps the result of someone not knowing what a "cuspidor" was (it's a spitoon) and filling in the blank with a word they were more familiar with, maybe because of the Commodore 64.
Fun fact: The melody the pufferfish is singing is the piece "Les Toreadors" from the opera Carmen!
This exact rhyme definitely appeared in an old episode of The Simpsons. I have a distinct memory of Bart singing it.
From what I know, comodore is just another word that people use for 'toilet'. I'm surprised so many people don't know.
@@champion363 That's "commode" not comodore.
@@yakikorosu3211 But I've seen people use that word as well. Think about it, what makes more sense, the fish talking about peeing in a cup or on a game system, or about properly using the bathroom?
And once again Jerma is the source of an amazingly bizarre meme
At least this pufferfish doesn't go "ÆUGH" every few seconds
something less annoying
That would make it better
Lmaobox
And I'm happy that he's not being fileted on camera by some Japanese Chef after being fed a carrot.
Why was that even a meme? It was awful, uninteresting, and is very forgettable
The origin of the song parody is quite simple really, and I'm shocked more people don't know it.
The creators of this game must have heard the parody of the song that goes "Don't spit on the floor, use the cuspidor" (a cuspidor being a spitoon), and when singing the lines for the fish drunkenly mangled it in an incomprehensible way, probably because of poor memory.
The lines as-is don't make any sense because the singer wasn't trying to make it make sense, he was just singing something stupid and random based on a foggy memory of a song parody he had heard.
no dude. comedore just means toilet.
@@ImposterMonarch No. Just... no. It doesn't mean that in any language. Comedore means dining room in spanish, not toilet. COMMODE means toilet, but that's very clearly not what he said.
@@ImposterMonarch Additionally, the highlighted comment there about the word "commodore" certainly sounds plausible at first, but it's an incredibly obscure and dated terminology. If the game's creators really put that much effort into crafting the lyrics, don't you think they would have at least spelled it right? it doesn't make any sense. The way the fish sings it contextually makes it obvious that he's just improvising off the top of his head, and doesn't even have lyrics for the "la la la la" bit
@@mistermeanor2026 its not spelled comedore. Im spanish and its spelled comedor
thats so smart
I've heard commodore used as slang for toilet, similar to (and possibly a mishearing of) commode. Thus, don't pee on the floor, use the toilet. As others have pointed out, it's a parody of "Don't spit on the floor, use the cuspidor".
Fun Fact: Stupid Invaders is actually a video game adaption based on the first season of the 1997 animated series Space Goofs, which was produced by French animation studio Xilam, whose other notable works include Zig & Sharko, Shurkien School, and what might be thir most well known work Oggy and The Cockroaches.
ohh so that's why that artstyle looks so familiar!
I've seen Zig and Sharko, I liked it.
@@qonitaalviannisa9929 Another likely reason: Bob Camp designed it, thereby connecting it with Ren & Stimpy!
I haven't heard of a single one of those series
@@seronymus Its one of the most popular french cartoon, they really worked well in Europe. There are great cartoon with a lot of original way to make laugh
Stupid invaders was a huge show here in France, it was super important for making the french style of kids animations at the turn of the century, and was inspired by american animation, it's called "les zinzin de l'espace" in french, and if you like stuff like classic nick shows you might like this. Also the theme song is sang by music legend Iggy Pop for some reason.
I actually remembered watching it in an Angry Bird game, oddly the game links to some Xilam cartoons
And the game is more mature than the show as well. Something to do with the game being made mostly for the creator or whatever?
I remember it actually made it to Quebec Tv but I never watched it

As someone who actually pee'd on the floor not less than 10 months ago, this pufferfish opened my eyes up to newer possibilities.
I love how the randomness factor has never changed during the history of our humor.
I think the fish is being symbolic, I think he simply means “don’t be immature, be posh and stunning”
Peeing on the floor is unquestionably immature.
And dining room is said in Spanish, which it’s kind of rich and posh to say since learning multiple languages is a sign of wealth and knowledge. And so he must be referring to a posh restaurant, and you it’s best you follow it’s style to not put out the authenticity.
IDK really, just my guess.
pretty sur my grandma jokingly used that word to describe the toilets. it’s just fancy old french for toilets that comes from the word for "private quarters" in boats.

Apparently a commodore is a naval officer of a high rank, below rear admiral and above captain. Comedore is spelt incorrectly in both Spanish and English (el comedor). They intentionally misspelled the word.

I never really thought about looking it up before, but "comedore" is one of the many slang terms my grandpa used for "toilet."

I really like how people started listening to classical music cause an underrated game
I figured "Use the comedore" was just the fish twisting the word "commode," to rhyme with "floor." Kind of a Bornana situation.

in the polish version of the game the fish is singing (translated of course) "I killed a bull, what's a bull for me? blood is pissing from him, piss piss piss, LA LA LALALA LALA LALALA" I advise to watch it if you enjoy polish cow or toilet memes, same energy.
The Smurfs are led by a single adult Smurf of advanced years, who happens to be Papa Smurf, who is around 542 years old (546 in the movie). He functions as both a village leader and a father figure, directing them in their daily tasks and serving as a mediator in disputes, using his skills, wisdom, intelligence, and power with benevolence. Each Smurf is given a name that's usually based on a talent, an occupation, or a dominant personality trait exhibited by that Smurf; the name can define that Smurf's particular role in their society, though at times a Smurf may seek to expand his range of talents and abilities or to outgrow certain traits they are named after. (In the Smurf comic books, unnamed Smurfs are simply called Smurf.) Sometimes a foreman would be selected among the young Smurfs to direct the other Smurfs in their tasks, such as Hefty. Why Papa Smurf is the only Smurf that wears red clothing while most of the other Smurfs wear white is unknown, though it may simply suggest leader status. Grandpa Smurf's wearing yellow may also indicate that different generations of Smurfs wear different colors.
The Smurfs' community generally takes the form of a cooperative, sharing and kind environment based on the principle that each Smurf has something he or she is good at, and thus contributes it to Smurf society as he or she can. In return, each Smurf appears to be given their necessities of life, from housing and clothes to food. The Smurfs have no use for money, though at times they may trade something valuable to outsiders in order to get something they need, as Wooly has done in "Wild And Wooly". An attempt to introduce a capitalist monetary system in the comic books' depiction of Smurf society in "The Finance Smurf" has resulted in the Smurfs turning entirely against it. In either media, this is usually interpreted by some readers and/or viewers as the Smurfs promoting communism, though their society is more of a close-knit family than a nation of individuals.
I appreciate learning more and more about Smurf lore
I remember knowing how to sing Les Toreadores when I was like 7 years old, and when fnaf came out and people labelled it as the fnaf theme I felt a feeling of superiority knowing the true origins of the song lmao

Considering Stupid Invaders and by proxy Space Goofs is rather obscure, it’s nice to know that it is getting more attention in modern days, albeit via an unorthodox character
This makes Stupid Invaders a classic in today's standards. I'm nostalgic for Space Goods all the time.
"Stupid Invaders" / "Space Goofs" is a French cartoon, in French "commodore" is another word used for "commode" which is a furniture like a dresser.
Watching a video of the game in French, the fish sings "Il ne faut pas pisser dans l'aqua, la toiletta dou commodore..." ("Don't pee in the fish bowl, la toiletta dou commodore...").
A commodore is a type of dog that looks like a mop with a mouth and little black snoot.
Something not mentioned, Stupid Invaders uses characters from the show Space Goofs, a relatively obscure French cartoon, and the game uses the va's from the english dub.
I actually used to watch this show because for some reason it was in the goddamn angry birds theatre
