Just a little elaboration on what I mean by DPS differences, because this video isn’t autistic enough. If you were to take to two people and face them off in a perfectly equal fight you would have kill trades every time if they have the same gun; in BF4 you can’t really kill trade but whatever. Point is, the guns are equal. The difference between the stubby and comp stubby on aek is like 2-3 times out of a thousand the comp stubby would win and you wouldn’t have a kill trade. Obviously, this is such a low number that it isn’t even statically relevant, and BF4 is such a mess that you could easily chalk it up to DICE. Put in the fact that there are a million other variables and the guns behave the same way. Comp stubby needs to be perfectly bursted however.
Also you will see that a lot of the calculations that symthic uses actually completely negates vertical recoil. Since technically speaking, vertical recoil is the only recoil that can be reliably controlled. This obviously gives the heavy barrel a huge advantage in their number crunching since the heavy barrel would have no down sides. Of course, we at symthic tried to figure out how to numerically get around the fact that recoil isn’t perfectly controlled. It is not prefect but basically what kills you the most about the heavy barrel is the first shot recoil multiplier. You can land the first shot but then have to either decide to over compensate and hit your second shot and not the third or fourth, or under compensate and miss your second and third shot but hit your fourth. This is because humans have an extremely hard time with anything that’s not linear movement. Thus you’re losing DPS against a head glitched target.

I randomly got recommended this when i was about to look for a video on this, very helpful :)
Frightening how the information in this video probably can't be found in 90% of "attachment guide" videos ever created. And the underlying ideas and mathematical analysis has probably not crossed 99% of the playerbase mind till this date.
The hb AEK is sadly still the best example of this...
The comp+stubby is probably also being used way too much, in terms of how many people actually play accordingly with the setup. People tend to just follow the meta of press mouse button 1 and shoot torsos.
MarbleDuck has similar videos, which are even more precise.
I realized how dumb some of my setups were acording to this video, but if im being honest it didnt impact my gameplay much at all, the ARs are still beasts no matter what you use and at the end of the day aim is the main factor, not the attachment, even with dumb setups i can consistently top frag, which isnt that easy in bf4
I’ve been playing this game since it came out and you taught me a lot of shit that I didn’t even know. I tried your attachments vs the attachments that bigger youtubers recommended and had a better time running your setups.
Big youtubers have no idea what is going on. Remember when they said BFV was good. Sadly those with the largest voices are often people who dont know what is going on or what makes a game good. You see this on reddit all the time. People dont know what makes a game good or fun and they have some idea but ultimately the choices they think are right are hurting the game and making it worse. A lot of people just dont know and thats fine but it becomes a problem down the line. A well educated player base is incredibly important.
@@theangrynun9298
Yeah, BF5 was borderline mediocre at best. It kinda pisses me off that lots of these big youtubers are more into hyping up a shit game or spreading misinformation for clicks instead of actually giving valuable information to their viewers. Since these guys have been my primary source for years, I’m upset at myself for not seeking out more information than a simple “alright I’ll just roll with it” and leave it at that. Other than that, BF6 is getting super hyped but I’m not buying it until I get actual gameplay footage. Dice has made me a skeptic and honestly it’s not my fault lol.
I don't know dude, I use an angled grip on absolutely everything, and it's just what I'm used to and I laser people all day long. That being said, this is a nice concise overview of all these attachments, well done thanks

Carbines are good for classes that don’t have ARs imo. Like Recon doesn’t have PDWs or LMGs either for that full auto capability, Carbine fills the role.
Hello. Nice video. I spent 650 hours and didnt know everything about loadouts. Thx
Late to the party, but out of curiosity how do you feel about running Suppressors? I usually end up using them on my ARs, Carbines, and PDWs. Don’t have to worry as much about not firing when on flanking routes and stuff, and the velocity drop isn’t too bad at the range of most Battlefield non-sniper/marksmen/machine gunner engagements in my experience
Also thoughts on Flash Hiders, I use them on snipers and DMRs mainly. Makes a little easier to see for follow up shots when rapid firing and also helps keep your position a bit more hidden without as much velocity drop.
2024 and still helpful!
Bf4 will keep going untill a better BF comes along
Strange stuff, I still prefer m416 way more with HB and Stubby, it’s a laser. Though I blame my style, I play something between HeXe and Sab3lo. I mean, I have more tendencies to push as Sab3lo, but I still prefer keeping those angles and being prepared for those engagements as HeXe. So I don’t use Ergo that much at all.
HB can be used almost on all LMGs btw. Definitely should be used on RPK and RPK-12, Type 88 and L86 for sure.
Comp/Stubby is a good combination for ACE 23, when you play those conquests and ranges are not easy to be minimalized.
M16 is very, very complicated to use. Various setups can be used in various ranges.
Don’t use carabines is very bold statement. They still have better muzzle velocity than PDWs. Which matters on Conquests. Ace21, Ace52 can be used very effectively. AK5C and AKU12 are laser accurate, etc. ACWR has incredible stopping power due to rate of fire, etc. Also MTAR and SG553 are very effective.
Nothing you have said in this makes any sense and is demonstrably false.
1. Heavy barrel should not be used on LMGs bc recoil. They all have way more recoil than ARs. So no
2. Comp stubby is not a good combination period. Also ummm average range is like 15m even on vehicle maps. So no
3. M16 is very easy to use. Just click. Also any attachments can be used but some are stupid.
4. Carbines are useless. Muzzle velocity means nothing in close quarters
5. Why are you playing infantry on a vehicle map?
@@theangrynun9298 1. Type 88 has almost 0 recoil. Rpk also, rpk-12 even less, AWS also almost no recoil. If you cannot control basic recoil, then obviously you shall not use HB.
2. I never said that comp/stubby is anything miracle. I can just see purposes of it.
Well ppl who don’t farm lockers/metros only obviously need to shoot at longer ranges than 15m.
3. Easy to use, tough to master. I don’t see too many top players who would use it anyhow often.
4. Obviously, clever answer.
5. Not really sure if you play conquests, but 32 ppl cannot fit into one vehicle. Also there’s still decent bunch of ppl who enjoy destroying those vehicles.
@@founik None of this negates anything I said. LMGs have more recoil for their RPM than any other class. There is no purpose of comp stubby other than holding angles in lockers and metro. Also why are you trying to increase the range of a gun that sucks at range. Again 15m is average distance even on vehicle maps. M16 isnt tough to master. Its just annoying to use. Ease of use is important. Also if you are destroying vehicles you arent using a gun. Again 99% of all kills happen inside of 35m which is still in PDW range. Why do you keep not reading or listening to what people say.
@@theangrynun9298 why you so passive aggressive
lots of people are playing bf4 since the bf2042 reveal trailer. This video is quite relevant now :D
ace 23 stubby hbar works really well feels like it kills faster than just stubby
Thanks for the recommendation youtube
also what's the reasoning for ergo grip on low rpm weapons? just lower spread while moving?
In short stubby is useless on low ROF. there is no point to not run a grip. Angled grip is also pointless bc no recoil. Therefore egro makes the most sense and helps in CQB
Explanation:
I never explained the attachments very well and thats something I left out in this video. The stubby grip decreases the spread increase of the gun. So you have less spread after 5 shots with a stubby rather than with out the stubby. The down side of a grip is that your spread value decreases slower with a grip. This means that you have to wait longer for your spread to reset after each burst. In reality this is so minor its trivial. The reason egro is used is simply that low rate of fire guns accumulate spread so slowly it doesn't matter and thus a stubby grip is sort of useless. Ergo is nice bc it gives you more up close potential than any other grip.

@@theangrynun9298 so ergo on l85?
@@staretorbmo stubby h bar. It is the one exception to the rule bc of the first shot spread multiplier.
i thought it was skill issue on my part, i ran the wrong attachments and my gameplay started improving substantially
When I'm playing engineer in a more open map or aggressive recon, I prefer the m4. I know stats may say it dumb, but something about the m4 burst accuracy just feels good.
Use whatever you like to use. Im just saying that PDWs are objectively better since engagement distances are very short on all maps and PDWs are better up close. Try them out maybe youll like them better. This isnt a you should do this that and this but rather here are the attachments that will make your guns feel more consistent and enjoyable.
m4 is not dumb, if you like doing headshots, its a headshot machine, no other weapon is better for hs. the weapons he say are good for hs, it usually is not, because every low rpm weapon, may have low recoil, but has shit spread n acc. m4, m416 n l85 are great for hs, as trying to shoot anything at any distance.

Should have also told about flash hider and angled grip because they can be useful it used correctly with the weapons. I use a ar160 and angled grip with an ACOG and I destroy people at range. Same goes for M4 and I almost always use a flash hider on most guns.
Flash hider does nothing at all. It doesnt even hide the flash. It just makes youre gun worse for no benefit. Take it off. Also angled grip is just a not a worth while attachment. try out my attachments I am sure you will feel a difference and its better.

One thing I’ve been wondering about is how accuracy resets. Does it reset the instant you let off the trigger, does it take until the gun recenters, or does it take an even longer amount?
Yes there is a time delay between after you stop shooting and when you can be accurate again. The spread decrease is very fast and it will take you longer to adjust your aim again than for the spread to reset back to base.
I’ve been looking for this thank you!

nice video, gonna try some of the suggested setups. What attachments would you recommend for the SKS? I'm thinking it would be stubby with hbar but i may be wrong. Any suggestions?
Yeah pretty much. Stubby H bar
Great video man! Appreciate the work.
you mentioned in the description that pdws should all be run with a stubbie and heavy barrel; the ump 45 is an exception to this because of its very low rpm for its class of gun at 600, which is even slower than the scar-h. an ergo grip and hbar would be an appropriate loadout for the ump, right? you have a better grasp on the mechanics of this game than I do. Also, what's the point in running stubby on cqb maps like metro and locker? wouldn't ergo make more sense for the hip fire advantage
Egro grip is actually for long range fights. The hip fire stuff really doesnt do anything and youd be surprised just how good hip fire is in bf4. The cross hair is not representative at all. But the reason why ergo grip is good for long range is bc it allows you to move while you are at distance. Otherwise you would lose a lot of hit chance bc you are at moving spread. The reason why you want stubby is bc in CQB you end up spraying a lot more than at distance. This actually does matter especially if you want to change targets or what not. For that exact reason is why I dont recommend comp stubby. People are not machines which is almost required of a person to properly use that loadout well. Not worth the extra effort for so little benefit.
just started playing bf4 a week or so ago, and i’ve been autistically analyzing the damage models and spread statistics of the guns I run and how the attachments affect them, so this video was summed it all up for me. the autistic rambling was music to my ears and made my life a lot easier, so well done man.
also, if you were to make recommendations for what you’d run in hardcore, what ar’s/lmgs would you run? I find myself going back & forth between the famas and aek, and while these guns absolutely shred on cqc maps like lockers, I find that i’m losing a lot of fights at range on larger maps.
in hc (60% hp) what would you run, which attachments would you use, and why?
Semi auto slug shotgun, or scar h. Why bother with anything else in a game mode thats not meant to be balanced. Hardcore is pretty stupid and ruins the game balance.
brazilians only use NA servers because we suffer a constant lack of variety.
Yet all I see them play is 24/7 locker. Much variety.......
Hay bro, love your video and I keep coming back to it as a reference. Can you please update/clear up the description? for example: what should I use on the scar? Stubby+None or H-BAR+ERGO/STUBBY?
watch the video. but stubby close range. h bar egro for long range. h bar stubby for if youre playing 8v8, which you are not.
@@theangrynun9298 I’m sorry but I’ve watched the video several times and I still don’t understand why put stubby on the SCAR when it’s ROF is really low compared to other stubby-only ARs. You also said in another reply that stubby is useless on low ROF weapons. Would you mind to clear it up for me? Other than that this video is really a good reference, thank you!
@@chonky7964 The heavy hitting guns like the scar and the ace 52 have higher spread values that put them in the same category as the high rpm 5 btk guns like the aek.
This is actually such a good video. Super clear explanations of how everything behaves.
E: I would like to know why u cant run stuff like stubby muzzle on scar.
muzzle just reduces recoil and accuracy. so if you can control recoil your gun would basically become more accurate
@@wxnted0 While I'm not a fan of muzzle/stubby myself, the combination can help the gun shoot like another gun, for ease of use. FSM is multiplied by the vert recoil, so on on a Scar-H you'd go from .875 none/stubby, to .7875. Not worth it imo, however, if someone usually plays with say, the SG553 none/stubby, then initial aim points would be virtually the same across all ranges.
@@seana1190 i get what you mean. if im being honest i started with all my guns with muzzle(i couldnt control recoil as bf4 was my first ever fps game) but i gradually started using it less until completely removing it from any of my loadouts.

You sort of answered this in another comment but I do want clarification. No laser? I mean I guess they can give away positioning but no laser or torch (aware torch doesn’t affect the gun at all) just seems so alien to me. Is it worse or just preference?
In my experience, the laser has way more cons than pros. For one, it has given away the position of players I otherwise would not have seen if they didn't have a laser equipped, you can see them through smoke, and three, if you are in the range in which you need to hip fire, then the hipe fire bonus given by a laser is pretty irrelevant. Only scenario I can think of a laser being effective is a really aggressive smg or shotgun playstyle
Do whatever it really doesn't matter. I personally dont run it bc I cant be asked to turn it on and off again in smoke and I play a lot of metro and lockers with smoke. But it does help. Also if you want to be cancer you can bind the flashlight key to something you can easily spam and win gun fights bc the other player is having a seizure.

yes there is a difference. But up close there is none. Hor-Recoil only really matters at range and thats when we see the negatives of spread. It then becomes a problem and a curve of too much recoil or too much spread. There is a balance there and you can quickly go off one end. In my opinion its not worth putting in the extra effort to net a small increase in hit rate at a distance that the aek already gets smashed at by other guns. Just press W key and move closer.

Does the flash hider actually reduce recoil or spread or is it a lie? Everywhere i look it says it reduces by 17% but i dont see anyone using it
All flash hider does is INCREASE your spread. It's SUPPOSED to at least eliminate the muzzle flash, but due to DICE's braindead developers, it doesn't do what it's supposed to. So we ended up with an attachment that exists only to make your weapon worse.
If I'm reliably hitting headshots are we 100% sure ACW isn't worth using even for a carbine?
Then you can do that with other guns too. Why is this only exclusive to carbines. Not to mention PDW have a longer range for two shot head shot kills over carbines. Which means you win even more fights. Try a PDW they are good.
Are we ignoring accessories? i get that they can give away position. I usually just run target detector cuz I don't wanna press q, is there a downside to this attachment?
They don’t affect the gun in any way. That’s why I don’t mention them.
"No reason to talk about anything else"
Can I introduce you to fun?
There is no reason to talk about anything else if youre going to talk about fun. Since winning gun fights is fun.
@@theangrynun9298 that it is, fair enough.
@@spookyboi4784 not to be big headed but attachments literally have nothing to do with snipers. Shotguns are cancer. Please don’t. And if you’re using a DMR you’re just taking up sever space.
Lol "i dont expect anyone to watch this"47k views lol 😆 gratz
I swear to God every time I get killed with a shotgun slug the guy also has full choke on. Smh
And the utter lack of response to my comment only proved my point, most of you people don't understand what a full choke is on a shotgun or what it's used for and why it is pointless with a slug.. I'll give you all a few minutes to think about it
Sorry my ignorance, but how about pistols and shotguns? What attachments should i use?
Dont use shotguns. comp for g18, Hbar for everything else
@@theangrynun9298 Aight, thanks a lot dude!
Not a big fan of shotguns myself btw... just want to unlock everything x)
thanks for explaining everything
do you think bf6 should stay with the bf4 attachment model, or be a little more nuanced when it comes to picking attachments?
Ideally I’d like to see a variety of guns that do different things. Having attachments that affect the guns handling is kind of dumb in my opinion. Bc there will always be the best way of running a gun and that makes the rest of the attachments useless. I’d much rather see attachments as cosmetic. That way we can have a different look to the gun with out negatively affecting the gun. But if we have to do the whole attachment thing I’d like to see a MW 2019 approach.
My aek setup is coyote vertical grip and muzzle brake
Nice. Except that’s a horrible setup.
@@theangrynun9298 no it’s not I love it I don’t like stubby grip different people like different setups it has no recoil
@@Battlefield_Master5430 bf guns already don’t have recoil. And why don’t you like stubby exactly?
@@theangrynun9298 because it doesn’t do anything much just spread and the muzzle brake helps vertical recoil and vertical grip hip fire and BF does have recoil are you dumb lmaoo
@@Battlefield_Master5430 Just watched your gameplay and wow. 9% acc. Stubby is far better. Spread matters. Muzzle brake is the second worst attachment just pull down. The one thing you can control and you are admitting that recoil is too much to handle. And yes BF games have extremely low recoil compared to other games. I am not the one running around with an attachment set that makes me look like I have no idea whats going on in the game I play. But go ahead keep running attachments that make your gun worse. Enjoy that. Mr shoots single digit accuracy. How do you have 9% acc with the aek. You know thats 2.79 bullets per mag. You cant even kill someone shooting 9% acc. Im not sure you are the best person to tell me that you attachments are good lol. Ive seen your gameplay. Maybe you should take some advice from someone who has three times the acc you have on a bad day.
what about muzzle brake with burst fire? ive been doing that with the AN 94. or is HB better?
Muzzle brake is bad. Use HB. Just pull down more. The recoil in this game really is not enough to warrant the use
will do, thanks
/me running UZI with FLIR because the guns are so fun to play with.
sks and svu12 are god guns
So I assume that either you don't use DMRs or they're useless because you never mentioned them at all.
Hbar stubby. I mean if you like sitting off an objective and just not really doing anything
@@theangrynun9298
You don't know much about DMRs if you think they're only good for camping outside objectives
You can tell this guys shit bucket is full.
Actually really helpful tho
I have 1200 hours over 8 years. Not exactly a lot.
AN-94 stuby comp 2 round burst on hardcore best gun no cap.
heavy barrel stubby is better for burst guns
The acwr slaps
im still rocking groza 1, its shit, not accurate at all,but damn i can hit 100m headshots with ez, and up close it shreads better than acwr for me.
Groza 1 is fun. I have over a 1000 kills with it and over a 30% acc. I think it is technically the 3 fastest gun to kill in the game but Im not sure.
@@theangrynun9298 i have 6k + and 1 thing i learned is you want to go slow with it, not too slow nor too fast. just right, and the gun will do the work for you, its very hard to learn thus many dont use it.
@@theangrynun9298 i think im the only one who uses suppression perk on support because how op it is with groza. It makes carbines more effective at any range and makes groza the best gun all around for me. Especialy in 64rush against aek bois
@@L3MONGamer what attachments do you run on it
@@mosslizard coyote and target detector or laser., and i only play support because only support has 50% supressive fire perk wich makes groza all the more op.
litteraly 0.01% players use suppress perk. ...
thats 150% supression effect for non defensive perk users..
Would running a suppressor on a sniper decrease the bullet velocity?
yes
@@theangrynun9298 aight thx
Thoughts on the new Battlefield?
We will see when it happens
I'm pretty sure i met a player in bf4 that is the same age as the game..
Scar H awesome set ups (I only play Hardcore):
Acog, no accessory, flash hider, folding grip - great for burst fire and some full auto play. Semi auto far range.
Acog, no accessory, muzzle brake, stubby - full auto gameplay, burst fire will still be your go to tho, semi auto for far distances.
Scar just one of those guns holding down the trigger doesn’t really work.
How do i access my loadouts? I cant figure it out my gamr looks completely different i cant access camos or my weapon attachements
just click on the load out tab
I like the m4, cuz it’s like the training wheels of bf4
Can you explain?
the M4 is a pretty subpar carbine
It helps your aim and stability
@@joshs2655 how does a gun help aim. And what is stability
It helps u too learn how to use automatic fired weapons, it trains you to use it, familiarized you with it.
nice
