But Encapsulation existed even before OOP and if abstraction is hiding implementation behind an interface(this is what encapsulation actually is) what implementation is there in an abstract class and what is that we are hiding? Effective Java is a book by Josua Bloch who was a sun / google employee. Please read it once.
