  • Hello everyone! I hope you are alright today? I am sort of fumbling around and trying to catch-up after a bug-filled start to the week, but I have done well! Quite pleased really!
Here is a chatty update for the last month, and a reminder to always please be kind, and also to remember not to feel too much pressure over the summer holidays.
    Lots of love xxx
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    ❤ ABOUT ME ❤
I'm a 36 year-old mum of three, who lives in Cheshire, in the UK, and this is my small part of the online world, where I share parts of my life.
I'm married to Mark, who is honestly my best mate, and we have three children and they seem to be growing up very fast these days. Our house is busy and full of love, and is also home to one dog, two cats and three rats. I did say it was busy...
Life did not go to plan for me, but I am very grateful for that, otherwise I wouldn't be where I am today.
As for this channel, you might find everything from cooking, mum life, fashion, home updates, vlogs now and again, and some topics close to my heart, such as coparenting, mental health, hearing loss and Stickler Syndrome too.
I am a very average mum, but I try my absolute best at whatever I do, and hopefully you enjoy following along!

Absolutely agree….. You owe no one an explanation. Tbh, and I’d like to think I speak for the majority, had you never mentioned and addressed this syndrome I suspect a lot of us would be none the wiser. However, I’m guessing there are others that are in a similar situation and are grateful to you for your honesty. Truly, if some twat wants to disrespect you or your family just block them …. They’re not worth your mind space. You’re a smashing family, we all appreciate you 😉👍

Thank you both. ❤️ I always wanted to use my space online to help spread a bit of awareness and help to bring our syndrome to light. And it hurts me on a completely different level when people mock things outside of our control. And it’s important to me to push back against that behaviour. Not just for me, or Daisy, but everyone else who was born a bit differently. I didn’t really want to have to go into details because I find it a bit intrusive sometimes. Thanks for your support. I really mean that. xx

It is absolutely outrageous that anyone has the audacity to behave that way regarding you, Daisy and indeed the Cleft community. Hats off to you for being kind, tolerant and patient enough to educate that minority of people who behaved in a shameful way. I felt emotional watching this, anybody can see you go to the end of the world for your children and family. You're a class act always Charlotte and Daisy is adorable and you are very right to stay true to your morals and values in parenting xx

Hi Charlotte. Ive been watching you for so long, but this is my first comment. I have an invisible disability which i really struggle with, and i find thr weight of other peoples judgement so hard to deal with. Your confidence and strength is so inspiring and validating, i really hope i can get to the same point one day. You are amazing, and Daisy is so lucky to have you as a mum to advocate for her. ❤
Cannot fathom how theres people who think that its ok to comment on an actual childs appearance.

Sending lots of love to you - when things aren’t always so clear to people, it can be exhausting having to justify yourself all the time. I hope you are okay lovely? And thank you - it means a lot to have the support of people. I know I make the choice to have this job and work this way, but I don’t think we deserve unkind messages. xx

@@sue488 that's interesting. Didn't get that at all to be honest. I'm sad that we still live in a very ableist society (at least I can say that for Germany) and that people with disabilities in any form are still the ones that have to educate and tell people about it at all. From what Charlotte says, she really thinks hard about whether to say anything or not but made the decision to give a bit of background information after her daughter's teeth and therefore her appearance and Charlotte's parenting had been insulted.

It’s awful you have to explain Daisy’s condition. My 8 year old has very poor enamel and they’re not sure why, I feel so much shame that she’s had fillings and we have been told her back teeth unlikely to last her to adulthood, despite being told this is nothing to do with hygiene or diet. I will have to ask about capping as our dentist has said there’s nothing they can do other than watch and wait. People just need to keep quiet.

    • @CharlotteLouiseTaylor
      @CharlotteLouiseTaylor  2 месяца назад

I really don’t like discussing all the ins and outs of what it’s like, because it can be quite an emotional subject for me. Especially when I know she will have to go through it again as a mother, most likely. Please don’t feel shame, my love. If anyone ever questions the situation, just remember that we have the power to speak up and educate. Nothing in this world is black and white and the fact that you worry so much shows how incredibly you care. Definitely ask your dentist for more options or ask to be referred to a specialist. But in the meantime - your little lady is very lucky to have you. xx

Thankfully we’ve never been pulled up on that sort of thing, but I know your worries all too well. I mean this with the nicest intentions but have you considered just not showing or featuring the children? If there’s nothing of them online, there’s nothing for anyone to say. I personally believe that’s the best way to protect them against strangers comments on the internet ❤️

    • @CharlotteLouiseTaylor
      @CharlotteLouiseTaylor  2 месяца назад +1

I have pulled back a lot from vlogs and content that shows my children now, as you might have noticed. When I started, I never expected to be here and now and I think I’d probably change a lot if I could start over again. As my children are getting older, it’s just been a natural progression and it’ll continue in that direction. I feel comfortable sharing the odd family photo for now. But equally, it shouldn’t have to be that action that stops people being unkind. No one deserves that and I feel like I have a responsibility to educate when people are using their ignorance to hurt others intentionally. xx

You’re a strong beautiful woman as is Daisy. I have a rare genetic condition which I love to educate people about. I can’t believe that anyone would made negative comments about Daisy, it’s unkind 😢 you’re a fighter, a strong woman with good morals and I love watching your videos. You’re just a normal lovely down to earth woman & funny too 😊 just keep being YOU, you’re a role model to anyone ❤ xxx

Thank you for educating us on cleft palette, I hope I didn’t cause offensive by responding to the comment because I was trying to stop her being so judgemental. You’re doing a great job, hope you and your family have an amazing week ❤

I actually really respected and appreciated you for responding on my behalf. I was very grateful. Sometimes, you can feel so anxious and worried that everyone thinks negatively of you, and having someone say: “That’s not okay.” Well, it means the world. Your comment only disappeared because I blocked the individual that wrote the original. You did nothing wrong at all my love. xx

What is wrong with people making nasty comments, they obviously are not very nice people. My daughter and I jaws haven't developed properly and I have overcrowding with my teeth which sometimes has been quite uncomfortable. My daughter has her jaw monitored they're deciding if she'll have to have something done. We're all different aren't we I can't understand why these sort of things need negative comments. You're doing grate take no notice xx

Thank you Rachel. I’m sorry you’ve been through that too. It’s really complex sometimes and not always the stuff you want to put out there publicly. I hope your daughter gets all the support she needs and you do too. You’re doing great too! xx

I can’t quite understand anyone’s logic in critiquing children online, especially children with health conditions or disabilities. My little guy has autism and is non verbal and I think you did a stellar job sticking up for children with differences. I’m just sorry that you felt the need to explain in the first place - PSA - if you’re a grown adult and find yourself wondering if you should make a negative comment about a child - just don’t!

    • @CharlotteLouiseTaylor

I feel exactly the same. I try not to feature my children as much as they get older - which is why I don’t vlog anymore. I want to keep them away from the negativity and the nastiness. But I am really, really sad that someone thought it was okay to go that far. People are just far too comfortable pulling others apart for being different. And it makes me so sad. I bet your little boy is absolutely gorgeous. And he’s so lucky to have a mum like you. xx

Thanks for the explanation on your syndrome. As someone who wasn’t aware of it it was really interesting to listen! In no way at all is that meant to be rude, but does Stan have the same syndrome as yourself and Daisy? I’ve not watched you as long as others so not as familiar but noticed you didn’t speak about his experiences with it? Thank you and well done you xx

That’s okay to ask. Stan and Bill are both unaffected. We went through genetic counselling and Stan had a lot of specialist scans etc when he was in my tummy too, to help us plan and be more prepared. Luckily, he came right home, which was a real gift after having a baby in the NICU. I can only pass on my type of the syndrome (there are several types with different outcomes) but it’s a 50/50 chance each time, the same as having a boy or a girl. Oddly enough, in our family, only girls are affected. xx

As a Mummy to 3, I know how relieved you must have felt knowing Stan didn’t have to go into NICU after your experiences with Daisy.
And thanks so much for answering and not taking that the wrong way ❤ some people can be so cruel online, I’ve seen a lot of hate directed towards RUclipsrs/influencers and I don’t know why people don’t just ask a question and have it cleared up rather than escalating it into a hatred for a person.
Keep doing you, you’re fab, and I feel like your life mirrors mine in many ways, with the working from home, 3 kids, kids social life/clubs taking over your own life 😂 and a fellow northerner ❤ xx

Thank you lovely. ❤️ I honestly don’t mind people asking, as I’m happy to talk about it.
If all of my kids had Stickler Syndrome, I would be equally as obsessed and in love with them, just as I am now. But it was such a relief when Stan was okay. I think I was in shock for a few weeks afterwards as it was very strange to have a baby at home without additional medical needs. It was very healing in some ways.
With Bill I was very lucky and young and still quite unsure of what my syndrome meant for me as a mother. It was just luck that he was born healthy and well. But by the time Stan was in my tummy, I was just hoping he was going to be okay because I think that’s all any parent wants for their unborn baby. I was terrified.
Daisy and I couldn’t breathe or feed properly when we were born and there were times I thought we might lose her. I am very protective of her as a result, as she’s been through more than most adults have and she’s still got the kindest heart and she’s so brave.
All that matters to me is that my kids are all happy and healthy and well. That they do what they love and they get whatever support they need. With Daisy, that might be more than the boys, but it never held me back and I know it won’t hold her back either. ❤️
Also - it’s nice to ‘meet’ another fellow mum of three who is up North! Shame about the weather today - another risk now of Sport’s Day being cancelled (again!). Hope you have a lovely weekend! xx

@@CharlotteLouiseTaylor you’re so right, you love each child equally no matter what, and for Daisy a ‘positive’ of your syndrome is that she has a Mummy who’s experienced some of the same struggles so can be 100% there and relatable for her, which is often rare with disability.
She’s obviously a tough cookie and excelling regardless, so that’s amazing!
Oh no hopefully we will have a break from this gloomy weather, I know the kids always feel disappointed when it gets cancelled 😞 we had sports day a couple of weeks back and narrowly missed the rain, it started bang on the last race thank goodness!
Roll on summer holidays and escaping the UK for a while (you and me both!) ☀️ xx
