Please, please don’t consider that anything you do is boring or that we are going to stop watching. You are so interesting to watch. I love it. Thank you.
Absolutely wonderful! Please don’t hurry. Those of us that are new might need to see the complete process. I have so many Reader’s Digest books and now I’m going to get busy for Christmas gifts. Thank you!
I love watching these longer process videos, for someone who is new to crafting even watching how you do simpler tasks is so helpful - sometimes just seeing the way you cut or glue something corrects mistakes I am making. Thank you 😊
Dawn - Your work is beautiful! Don’t ever feel as though you need to hurry up. If people don’t like it - they can always watch it on 2x or go along to someone else’s videos. I personally LOVE methodical and step by step, plus personal stories. You gals that I watch are my source of civilization/socialization... even if I never comment. Hahaha 😂
Hi there, my neighbor told me about this project, she is well on her way with hers. It is beautiful what a great idea! I’ll be going to thrift store tomorrow and get my books, also more printer in and get back and get busy. Thank you for the great idea! Happy crafting!
I love it, "use it like you didn't buy it", your dad is a smart man. That is going to be my new craft saying. I didn't know why your name was the Book Vandal, but your explanation gave me a giggle. - I just ordered a couple of RDbooks, so I'll be joining you in this project when they get here. Thank you for sharing your creativity w/ me.
Good morning Dawn, oh my, this is such a lovely project. Yes, fabritac is so awesome to use! It is my go to as well. I cant wait to get started on this journal. Thank you so very much for sharing your process and taking the time to walk through each and every step! I appreciate you very much! ❤️🌹
Loving this Dawn. I have used this method with 2 Kraft greeting cards but never with 2 books before so I'm enjoying watching you work with 2 books. I'll definately try it. Thanks for sharing! X
I love your videos. And your honesty! I’ve always thought it interesting that people need to have their opinions on what others do heard so loudly. You use that Fabritac!!! It’s a great glue. And some opinionated, unfulfilled person with an overwhelming need for control will comment on the use. Delete and ignore! Your projects are fun, innovative and easy to follow. I am excited to give this one a try and am crafting mine along with you :-)
Liking this series so far. Am new to this art form so slow & steady is good. As for the thin doily on the front, you could glue several together to make it sturdy. They always stick together in the pack anyway.
Thank you so much Dawn, that’s absolutely and utterly stunning and gorgeous and breathtakingly beautiful too. I really really love 💕 those papers you’ve used. And once again, I really really love 💕 this video, which is so very very inspiring and incredible too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Loving how this is coming together, I am in the middle of a bigger project so I will come back to do this one you always have such clever ideas. I am happy that you have slowed it down a bit, the directions for this tutorial are excellent and easy to follow. Take Care and be safe Hugs and Smiles
I am so excited about this video series. I have some old children's hardbound books in my basement. I plan to use the covers from two of those to make one of these. It kind of reminds me of a lap-book. But in my opinion much better. I'm thinking of making the binding like a travelers notebook with strings to swap out notebooks. I may put eyelets on the spine for reinforcement. Can you tell I'm excited and looking forward to making at least one. ;) I'm glad you decided to take it slow. There is nothing wrong with longer videos when you are teaching us how to do something. Anyone who doesn't want to watch it all can just fast forward. I've done that on other videos in the past (on other YT channels). And do you seriously get nasty comments on the glue you use. What in the what? Some people need to find something better to do.
I've been wanting to do a lapbook with 2hard covers and a large spine between. I think this is a trifold lapbook basically. This may be a better way to start. Try this trifold version before i dive into the giant version i was planning. Love it
Absolutely amazing. I am making this with you as we speak. I definitely prefer these slow and long videos to quick and edited ones. Thank you so much for this wonderful idea and I really hope it will turn out great for me too 😀💖💖💖 P.S. I'm going with historical theme. Age of Exploration to be exact. I have a reader's digest Journey's into the Past book, where I'm getting the cover pictures and stuff for the inside journal from. So far loving it 😍
I love this. I am new to the RUclips making, and my daughter is helping me market. So how I am learning to do it is video my making of product and show the end in a flip through. Put the link if they want to learn and follow along then they do, so do not worry about how long you take, we want to be here to learn. No apologizes needed. Thank you for sharing your talent Dawn. :)
@@thebookvandalshop5592 I’m working on my version now. Everything is covered and I’m working on getting the signatures in. The folders are made but not filled yet.
Great idea! It’s a beautiful book. My first thought was that it is a modified lap book. Love those papers too! I purchased them when they first came out. They are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
Very awesome, Dawn. I love this!! What do they use if not Fabri-tac?? There's other glue? lol. I didn't get a darn thing done while you were shopping and coffee dying and getting dinner on. I'm such a slacker. Can't wait to see the rest getting made.
Pam at the paper outpost has awesome videos using up book pages as well. If you get a chance, go check her out. I do not mind at all with a length of a video as long as we are getting a tutorial. I could sit all day and watch a tutorial. I may watch it several times or I may just watch and work along with you. I just procured a bunch of readers digest books so I’m really excited about seeing how you do this.
I love this project and I'm going to make it :) But, since I recently bought a lot of things paper related, I can't exactly afford these kits. Hence my question - can I use other papers instead? It won't have a theme (my works usually don't, I'm not that advanced yet), but the concept as a whole is beautiful
Not sure if you already know this (you probably do) but I'm just putting it out there. You can mix up a batch of methyl cellulose and spread it over your fragile papers, and it makes them stronger. (It's evidently used a lot in origami, to make the paper stand up to all the folding.)
Will it make a big difference if the 2 books you have are a little larger and thicker? I love your tutorial! I just purchased the two Nature Remedies downloads and I can't wait to start this. Pretty neat to see you are also from Indiana. Was just in your neck of the woods hiking at Turkey Run State Park a few weeks back photographing all the marvelous mushrooms!!!
I don't think it will make any difference at all. Yes I'm not to far from TR at all. About 15 minutes or so. The leaves were so pretty and picturesque here about 5 days ago. Now, the rain and wind have knocked most of them down.
I love fabric tac, it works well, holds fast. If you don't have two similar books and you us chip board, do you need to make two full books and glue the back to the front ?
One question I have for you. How do you print the A4 pages on letter size? I usually shrink them to fit in Photoshop to print. But just curious how you print them.
Dawn, this would be a good time to wear a mask. when using a sander, small dust particles can be breathed in and if it gets in your lungs it stays there. That is what we were told in nursing school, so I'm always aware of what I'm breathing in. Just saying. Love you videos. Stay safe. Kathy.
Hi there, I am having a problem. I have searched but am unable to find a tutorial. I am trying to put 4 chipboard pieces together. Everything is bare, without decoration. I have cut one spine to 3 inches, and the other two at 1.5 inches. I cannot figure out the order I need to go in. It’s hard for me to explain. Should I leave the rough edge of the spines exposed or the rough edge of the book cover. Like say I do the spines first, they will look messy so I am planning on using scrapbook paper to decorate. In order to make things neat do I do the spines and then decorate with the paper. Or do I do the paper and then decorate the spine. I hope you know what I am trying to say. Like say we are looking at the book from the front. Which rough edge should be showing, the paper I’m using for the cover or the paper I’m using for the spine. Sorry to bug, but I’m having a hard go at it. Thank you, millana
Please, please don’t consider that anything you do is boring or that we are going to stop watching. You are so interesting to watch. I love it. Thank you.
Awww, thank you so much for that. 💜💜

Thank you for coming back when you repeat the task. I really appreciate good and not wasteful instructional videos. So glad I found you! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this video!! Incredibly helpful and just my speed 😁💝😃
What a great series of videos and a lovely book, too. I shall watch parts 3&4 tomorrow!

I appreciate all the prep you did for this video! Loving this project 😊

love it! now, to find a pair of matching book covers, thinking that would be easier than making from scratch xx

I just tell it to fit to a letter size in the print menu

What Weight of paper do you use?
The majority of them are on a 44 or 48 lb paper. I use Epson brand Pemium Presentation Paper in the matte finish

For most everything except my actual journal pages, I print on Epson brand Pemium Presentation Paper in the matte finish

How about calling it a trifold memory keeper? (I kind of suck at naming things lol)
I like that Trifold Memory Keeper
👍👍👍💕💕💕🇩🇰
Not boring to me. Need lots of instructions as a newbie.
Why don’t they like fabric tac
because it is not non-toxic
