  • I start a new build with a 1977 Malibu Classic that has been severely rusted out in the past. It pretty much needs a complete body swap, so let's get started! In this video I cut the roof and quarter panels off. Let's see how rusted it really is!

Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. No surprise on rust found I own two Oldsmobile Cutlasses 1976 sport coupe many of rust areas same as the Cutlasses ! Many folks do not like the Colonnade body system , but the possibility of what can be built great if you fine low rust car . The money your customer is paying he would been better off finding one that did not so much work ! Good luck Lee your a better man than I , it will look unbelievable when your done ☕️👀😎👍 !

Love the collonade GM's, for the wheel opening moldings you could leave them off and do Laguna type stripes on the lower body that go around the wheel wells, looking great so far.

I think it's a worthwhile build, It's no muscle car, may not get a whole lot in return if you were to sell it, although these were nice looking cars with paint, & wheels on them. I'm sure your friend Art would appreciate it, maybe enough to sell it back to him once he sees it finished. (LOL) Besides, it keeps you busy while missing power tour. If it will retain the red interior, I'd paint it pearl white with red, with and blue pinstripe similar to the Pontiac Can Am that came out that same year in '77. That was one sharp looking car.

I use to have a 75 it was a cream color. Paint and interior was perfect. Motor ran ok but was 1 of the weakest 350 engines I ever seen. I paid a 1000 bucks for it, my wife drove it 4 years and I sold it for 3 grand. I don’t think I even put a battery in it. It gave me 0 troubles. The only reason I sold it was wife was wanting a Toyota Celica gt.

Just a thought, years ago, we would drill a hole in the bumper shock absorbers and drain the hydraulic fluid out. Then collapse the bumpers so they would be closer to the body for a better look. Eliminate the filler panel completely.

Right, not a lot of money for those but people do have a cult following for them on their forums. I have seen them restored, customized and/ or made in to low riders. They are a roomy car with that fast back, the Chevelles suffered elephantitis and detuning those years, more boat than muscle but they do have nice size and smooth ride. They have a coolness to them but most of them did not survive. My guess is that some of the stamped steel on those years was probably recycled steel, some of them could compete for rusting out the quickest with their very cheapest cars. Garage kept prime examples are rare so a cheap mild restore will certainly sell. Once again you have your hands full. I hope the build goes well and that you can make a few bucks on it if you decide to sell it.

Where the shifter would be on the column if it was a floor shift, have tried twisting to make sure it’s all the way up in the park position? I had a 73 Cutlass and the shifter messed up. I used that part of the column to shift it until I got time to fix it. If that’s the same. It might be reason the ignition doesn’t turn off

Wasted ten years sitting in the yard. Should have just blown a quick paint job on it and kept driving. It. Then rebondo and painted again ten years ago. Some times it’s all about sentimental value. The guy would have had his car back. Tractor paint was cheap. This car means nothing to you. Should have stayed painting the van. You jumped. Salt car . Some things are best small patched and kept as beach cars. They covered in salt spray anyways. 👍👍
