And Hamilton shot at the sky not directly at burr
Hamilton did not actually point/shoot the sky, like the play shows. As Burr later on in his life confirms that Hamilton shot above his head and the evidence was that the bullet hit the tree behind him. (From Chernow's book)
However, he made it clear prior to the duel in valedictory letters that he intended to miss the shot. Some speculate the reason the bullet hit where it did was an involuntary pull of the trigger from being shot, which led to the bullet going wide.
Kawaii Weee Actually, he didn't shoot towards the sky. He shot a few feet away from Burr
Kawaii Weee when you listen to hamilton so you think you're a genius
You guys, nothing is confirmed. Please don't say "he shot in the sky", "he shot above the head", "he shot a few feet away", etc. as if that /is/ what happened. We don't know, we weren't there. Though, there may be evidence Hamilton shot above the head from where the bullet landed, we can't be sure. But hey, if we get to time traveling ;))))

Hamilton followed Burr, even after the former's death. In July 1833 he married Eliza Jumel, a wealthy woman 19 years younger than Burr. The marriage lasted four months when Eliza realized Burr was squandering her money in land speculations. She filed for divorce. The lawyer she appointed to represent her was Alexander Hamilton Jr., his rival's second son.
Woah-hoho! Sick BURR-n there, universal Karma!
Hamilton was smart and an intellectual from his drive within. Burr was culturally with no responsibility for it. He was positioned and had nothing to lose but his reputation, his cultural identity was more important to Burr than his character. The man who died, won, while losing everything Burr felt valuable. Burr gambled with life that day, murder in his heart. His squandering and gambling away his wife’s assets was one more act on the stacks of poor character that Hamilton saw. Regardless of Hamilton’s views, his opposition to Burr was rooted in his aversion to offering power to corrupt men of poor character.

Who needs these when you have the musical?
That's just like saying "Who needs a musical when you have the biography?"
The musical has a lot of inaccurate information in it. Videos like these help show people who've expected the musical to be a reliable source of information what's a fact and what isn't.
Queue yeah...but if i'm not mistaken, they found a note that ham had written before the duel. he said that he didn't have any intention to kill burr or sth... :00
Well hamilton didn't shoot to kill, confirmed by the note he wrote saying he didn't intend to kill. Burr however was not aware of this facts, whether or not he would have shot otherwise is unclear
the musical has the main idea of this event, which is fine for me because i live in Canada so I don’t really need to know this stuff haha
I have a project thats about the bill of rights, who james madison was, and about the federalist papers and for most of it i didn't even need to research :)))
History obliterates, In every picture it paints, it paints me and all my mistakes. When Alexander aimed at the sky, he may have been the first one to die, but I'm the one who paid for it. I survived but I paid for it.

Hamilton never went back to the grange (his house) he was rowed across the Hudson to a friend's house.. where Eliza wasn't directly informed of his condition (she was at the grange). Before he died like there were like (I think) 20 ppl watching Hamilton and on their knees praying
Are you saying Eliza wasn't by his side when he died? :'(
And according to Dr Hosack’s account, some part of his upper clothes such as his coat and shirt were significantly cut in prior to be taken to his friend’s house. And when they got there, the rest of his clothing were eventually removed.
Just giving out some info you folks don’t know.

R.I.P. Alexander Hamilton
“TheMnyMstrs” & “CntyofEnsIvmt” are 2 good docs that cover the topic, but the lecture shows you who AH really was.
I thought I posted this but I can’t see it. Take two…
We don’t know definitely what happened. Hamilton- as a superior strategist and humanitarian at the core- may have ‘pulled’ his shot intentionally (as the clip suggests) gambling on the fact that the high likelihood of that he who fired first would not have his bullet find its target. This would have the effect of exonerating Hamilton of wrongdoing and cement his position.
If he indeed “pulled his shot” - and we’ll never know - it is also ponderously curious if he had thoughts of being a martyr where he intellectualized the public consequences for Burr should Burr prevail in the duel.
Hamilton, interestingly, was not the only American public figure of the era to die after a duel. But he may have been the only one to engage in such risky behavior for reasons other than ‘defending one’s honor’ (sic).

I watched the Hamilton musical with my family this past 4th of July and did some research on my own the next day and I find the duel very intriguing. I mean, this Hamilton-Burr duel was just a culmination of their political rivalry. He got killed over an insult. And now Hamilton is known as the man who was a great lawyer. And Burr is known as a murderer. Serves him right. He should've thought twice before going on with the duel.
