Driver update utilities were in their heyday during XP thru W7...nowadays many driver utilities can download the wrong driver or out of date drivers. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I used to use SDI a lot! I'm not really using it anymore since it can cause BSOD's and then I have to waste time troubleshooting the problematic driver! I only use Windows update and OEM's update tool to install drivers! I still use SDI sometimes when I'm offline, so I keep it up to date! When I do use it, I hover over each driver and verify that it's the correct driver by comparing the ID that SDI matched the driver to (it shows in light blue text), deselecting drivers that's not a good match for the hardware ID!

Hey britec first I just want to say that I appreciate your videos and the time you put in to them for us pc guys. So the dilemma I currently face with my pc is that I bought in to Asus because it was a gorgeous looking board that supported my 10900k so I got it and it’s the Maximus 12 hero and the problem is that the drivers from the website are all compiled and Imbedded with all kinds of Asus junk that will end up running processes in the backround that aren’t necessary I’ve already came to terms eith the fact that I’m not controlling my rgb because I refuse to have armoury crate bloat in my pc it has about 10 backround processes but as far as drivers it’s been really tough to find drivers and I did try snappy driver but I just don’t know that I trust it last time I tried it my performance after was worse and also I don’t really know that I Tru fully need a lot of the ones for Intel like it was suggesting the pcie x16 drivers snd stuff that I just don’t want to download unless I know I truly need it

Used a similar driver finder years ago while working on an old HP. Some of the updates made things worse. Thank God for restore point. Like you said, sometimes it makes things worse. Appreciate seeing this again. It’s been a while. Stay safe my mates!😊👍🏻😷

Guys be aware!!! I did this, and it give me blue screen sadly. 99% sure of it since i restarted pc it gave me blue srcreen, i had to have take it to local tech support. Could not even reinstall Windows since needed key. Tried to install windows USB version which formated my SSD. Very unfortunate and dumb situation wich no one should be in. He does give warning at end. I did want to do this because wanted to see if it would improve PC. Please be carefull.
Not a fan of snappy driver. The only one I will use besides windows updates is the one from Intel.
I don't update drivers unless it's a security issue, or a driver is causing a problem. If everything is running ok, I let it go. I do accept windows updates, of course and check Intel fairly regularly

You are assuming we know how to find what mother bored we have. It like I have a truck, and I know we need new breaks but how do I find out if I need breaks for a F-150 or a F-250? Its like If I was teaching you custody and control and said first start with the reverse hand shake then stir the soup. I feel some very important details were left out.
"If it ain't broke don't try to fix it" .... I've been telling people that for years about graphics drivers ..... If the new driver doesn't address a specific bug in a game you have then you probably don't need it. I only update graphics drivers when it fixes a specific bug in a game I'm playing, I buy a newly released game that needs "Game Ready" drivers or there is the rare security bug fix. The reason there are monthly updates is mainly to support new games and hardware and the problem that arises is if you have a game much older than one year then they don't test the drivers with that game and the new drivers can often break the game. I saw this in action in June and July when both Nvidia and AMD drivers broke AC Odyssey and the solution was rolling back the drivers. I was running the Nvidia security patch drivers from May and I never had any problems ... I've had 3 drivers version in the last year, July 2020 when I built the system, December 2020 Game Ready drivers for Cyberpunk 2077 and the May 2021 drivers which fixed several critical security issues which I'm still using and I don't plan on upgrading again until the Game Ready drivers for the Witcher 3 "Complete Edition" drops in the next couple of months
people always think there might be something better with a update and its not always the case.
I wish I could get a proper driver for my 1080ti, SWTOR has had issues for years, didn't used to though. Performance gets worse with each update I swear, and the glitches never get fixed.

If I try installing the same ISO image I have installed on my Pc but on a Virtual machine and then try your (Windows-10-Disable-Services - Britec09 disable for my services.msc) and also try that Snappy Driver as it listed few newer Drivers (like chipset and Host Bridge Dram) on my machine with huge years in between as of 2006 to 2018 some improvement must be there, does running a virtual machine can help me avoid BSOD or the virtual machine won't detect my Hardware and driver versions ????

I downloaded Snappy and Malwarebytes kept flashing that the x64 exe had a outbound trojan and riskware, it also flashed periodically while I was doing the updates for my computer in the Snappy software, all of them were blocked (website blocked) by Malwarebytes, what does this mean? Is Snappy not safe?

Does Snappy have a place where you can click and it will just simply scan your computer for any outdated drivers that you may have in your PC and let you know? Because I've been getting notifications from my anti-virus people saying I have 12 outdated drivers and a place to click to resolve the issue but when I click on it I get carried to a page to purchase their software to resolve the problem? My PC seems to be working fine so I would think if I had that many outdated drivers I would be having some problems with my PC.

CC cleaner is a complete scam when it comes to scanning and providing drivers.

@@Britec09 just used snappy. It updates drivers that the Driver Booster can't detect .. the driver booster installed on my PC says it's up to date. But I tried the snappy and it found lots of drivers that are outdated and not installed..
Why is the nvidia update showing 3.1 GB just to update? Isn't that too much or maybe am missing something.

I have a 6 yrs old Lenovo desktop and have an auto update link there. Lenovo states that they are the manufacture of the motherboard - it is. I check for auto updates from time to time and it works fast and great
