ELVIS said he gets very emotional, especially performing spiritual, gospel songs, which was always his first choice as a profession. Before he passed in 1977, he planned to create a gospel group with J D Sumner, sadly, his time on earth ended too soon🫂💞
After Elvis’s🕺 concerts he would sing Gospel songs with the stamps quartet for hours, this song had special meaning for him- because the song is about God’s Holy Spirit ✝️
One year since discovering this video and still it makes me cry. Was blessed with the privilege of interviewing JD Sumner in 1974. Booked to perform at a local charity event, he and the Stamps dropped in on my radio show. He was warm, yet brash; brutally honest, yet sweet. We lost this complex man of God in 1998. I hope to see him again in Heaven.
Nobody did and nobody will ever. Beautiful heavenly voices. Like angles, sweet sweet spirit. Haven't heard it for a long time. Time fades away. Sad. Elvis On Tour, great documentary. Beautiful man. Beautiful music. Beautiful lost soul. Elvis had it all, God damn prescription pills and nobody had the guts to talk to Elvis that he's ruining he life. But, Elvis is with his mother, brother, father and the good lord. God bless them souls. RIP, Elvis. Í still miss you, your music's here but, you are not. Later, man. ✌👋✝️💚
@@edwardspanjer5134 Yes, Elvis is with the Lord and I'm looking forward to hearing him sing How Great Thou Art to the King of kings when I get there. 👏⚡🇿🇦
i heard a story about JD telling elvis ,that this was his proudest moment...that he would never reach a audiance this big,if not for elvis...sorry for any bad spelling...greets from holland all you elvis lovers
From Holland. Greetings. Elvis’s grandmother Minnie Mae Hood Presley ~ if you follow the Dad’s side the Hood side all the way back on Find A Grave their ancestor came from Denmark. I found that out just last night.
Beautiful just Beautiful! Omg, the reverance Elvis is. showing simply by just listening is palpable. Elvis is moved and uplifted deep within his soul here, his facial expression says it all. He may have been the star of the show yet he always made way to let others have their time in spotlight, his love and admiration for JD and Stamps never failed, also for his band and backing singers. This performance alone shows without a doubt the humility of Elvis Presley.
'Sweet, Sweet Spirit' was written by Doris Akers, chosen by The Smithsonian Institute as a "National Treasurer". Elvis loved/recorded many of her songs including 'Lead Me, Guide Me Along The Way'.. Having had the opportunity to work with and to personally know J D Sumner & Doris Akers both were talented treasures who have blessed so many.
Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart ...In my flesh dwell no good thing... looking forward to the day when we are like Jesus... perfect
Another example of his love of gospel, and his humility. A good showman doesn't mind stepping back and taking a break, especially to showcase a great song and great singers. Elvis was a great showman.
Whoever puts a thumb down on this fantastic video is no Elvis fan. You need to understand gospel music that Elvis sang so well. The stamps were fantastic . So much meaning and peace within each song...
✝️ Yes,. HE does!....Moving through out the entirety of this song. Right into our heart and soul..💕 Thanks to Elvis for including this ?Musical message in his Concert and album.
Elvis was very well known for being "The King Of Rock and Roll. He was honored with many Gold, Platinum and Silver records. He recieved 3 Grammy Awards and they were for his Gospel Albums, this should be of no surprise to anyone because he sang these songs with all his heart...
Sweet Sweet Spirit Lyrics There's a sweet sweet spirit in this place And I know that it's the spirit of the Lord There are sweet expressions on each face And I know that it's the presence of the Lord Sweet Holy Spirit Sweet heavenly dove Stay right here with us Filling us with your love And for these blessings We lift our hearts in praise (hearts in praise) Without a doubt we'll know that we have been revived When we shall leave this place “Lord, I reckon so.” Elvis Presley

Dear Elvis, sleep soundly now, but we will meet again soon, for our King, Jesus Christ, is coming! Jesus will wake you up soon! Almost all Bible prophecies have been fulfilled... See you soon on resurrection morning! My soul praises the Lord God for all the miracles he has done!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely beautiful Elvis is a true Disciple of the Lord 😊 so easy to show love kindness & real help to all people & shared his fortune amongst the many known & unknown 😊
Also this is touching to god and Jesus and me also I’ve been an Elvis fan for 5 years so this is my first favorite song second is how great thou art Elvis was a star all over the world like if you agree also R.I.P. Elvis ❤❤❤
This is my late mother's favorite song. She played this all the time. She loved Elvis. Elvis was a good man and this is the music he loved the most just like my mom
It's as close to a religious experience as you can get to he was truly worshiping right then and there I don't know if Elvis loved gospel music or love the Lord more amazing he's definitely was blessed with god-given talent & spirit so I'm going with gospel music 🎵🙏👑⚡
Every day was a religious experience for Elvis because he was constantly humbled by the gift God gave him and wanted to use it for His glory. He loved the Lord and wanted to talk with people about it. I think he would say anyone would have a religious experience living day to day trusting in Jesus with all their hearts. ❤ The above isn’t my opinion but accounts from Billy Stanley’s book The Faith of Elvis, and Linda Thompson’s book A Little Thing Called Life.
@Cynthia00007 currently...It was on Tour across Country along.. with the GOLD BELT TigerMan was so proud of. They were about the only Elvis didn't give away.

Beautiful, such a generous man, happy to share the limelight with the Stamps, I love the smile of admiration Elvis cracks just after 2 minutes. What did Elvis say immediately after the song?
Imagine being a rock star beyond anything.. Then you stop the show for a religious hymn. Well....Elvis could do that.
And he did..From the late 60s till his passing he used 2 famed Gospel Quartets to back him up.
The Imperials and later JD Summer and Stamps Quartet
Only the king can do
This is my favorite video of Elvis. For a moment he forgot where he was and simply worshipped Jesus. What a beautiful moment to capture.
You are so right! I love it too!
He doesn't sing in it, but from the expression of his face, you can see that his soul IS singing in it.
@Jeremys fun and gaming
That's pastor Bob not elvis

They sang this song for Elvis allot.
The tears rolling down Elvis’ face say it all. He was singing to the Lord even though he wasn’t audibly singing.

I believe Elvis was touched by the Holy Spirit when he heard this song being sung 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is, in my opinion, the best recorded performance of this classic spiritual. The Tenor is amazing!
Yes, just look at the beautiful smile on Elvis's face. 😊❤
Elvis knew His gift to sing and exalt Jesus name!

No rock entertainer could do that, even now to sedgeway over in concert to a gospel song with such reverence. He was truly special.
These men sang this song at Elvis funeral. Vernon asked JD to pick the music for him.

He sings it now as Bob Joyce. It's Elvis' favourite song and he made the Stamps sing it before every show in his room.
I didn’t hear a bob cover, let me check
