Ben - love your channel, thank you so much for the work you put into the videos. My feedback… I especially like: • your insert edits of real life video examples to illustrate your points • your language is very positive even for inexperienced and beginners like me • your teaching/coaching style • your use of whiteboards • your no-ego style - you are humble and it really helps make you appealing It’s hard to draw waves and surfers on a whiteboard - 2D v 3D. So maybe the use of some props down the track would be good. For example a model of a wave, and a model (or a toy doll) surfer. This might save you some production time as well. Keep it up Ben. You are really helping me understand how I can improve, and what practical things I can try and use in my practice. Best of luck in the championships.
This is so so nice to hear I really appreciate this comment 🤙 I'm super glad you find the videos helpful, stuff like this always gives me a boost to work more on it and get more out there, so thanks for that! I agree with you, its very difficult especially for me to draw (I've had no gifts handed to me there 😂) I think thats a great idea though, a model wave or maybe even something I could print off and atleast annotate and maybe even get some props like you said. I'm going to have a good think about that because its a super good idea, that's awesome Thanks so much once again! Any more tips I'm all ears!! haha, yewww!!
I could never be this serious about surfing. It just seems to suck the fun out of it. I see kids getting coached by board club members and I don't see many smiles, just serious looks. However I have only ever been in one surf comp in my life and even that shocked me how clinical everyone was.
Anthea (sp?) seems to be at the same level as me w/positioning and trimming, similar board as well, so this video is helpful and one I'll save and rewatch. W/your coaching, though, she's improved dramatically from one session to the next. In the first couple days of winter here in the NE USA, I observed a few experienced surfers going left or right. I asked one if there was something I didn't understand about the way the waves were breaking, and he told me it was more a matter of their comfort level. Since I want to learn both ways, I'm actually finding backside w/a view down the line and of the shore somehow feels more natural for me?
Oh super interesting!!! It’s far less common but I have a surfer every now and then that says the exact same thing, that they actually prefer to turn and feel more comfortable going on their backhand! I haven’t quite been able to place my finger on exactly why that is just yet but any info is great! Like you saying being able to see the shoreline, really interesting 🙏 Hope this one was helpful!! Yewww 🤙🤙🤙
I think if you're a goofy and surf beachies backside is probably your stronger side haha. At my local there is hardly any lefts maybe 2 for every 10-15 rights. I'm always going right as a goofy and as a result my bottom turn on my backside developed way faster than my frontside bottom turn.
Haha I completely agree!!! I’m a goofy and in the land of the rights here around Torquay Australia - I feel that goofy footers have a backhand advantage like you said just in the way of always surfing rights!!

Very fair! Totally understand that there's a lot of seriousness day to day life some use the surf for freedom in that way and just enjoying it

@ Maybe the wave energy from behind better helps me to keep my balance and stance?
@@laurat1129 yeah definitely!
