Hello GTN, can you guide me on how to do virtual full marathon since this is my first time full marathon?

I have been experimenting with different tapers this season. My best race of the summer was preceded by 3 days of doing absolutely nothing. It just goes to show that the taper is a very individual thing as I know other people who do great with a 1-hour bike ride the day before. Each to their own!

Hey I just wanted to thank you so much. I’d be in the dark without your channel and all of your wise advice. I have my first triathlon in 2 days in Kona and I’ve been training and watching your vids for the last year to prepare. So appreciative thank you!

If it is your first Ironman/Challenge, you should do it all, visit the expo, look for pros, enjoy everything. You will have more chances to improve your time, but you will never forget your first major event. So cutting down the experience to save a few minutes is not worth it imho.

Right on time. I have my first ever Triathlon race (Sprint ) this Sunday and I was wondering today what should I do the day before the race. Thank you.

Great videos very informative. I tend to rest up the day before and just go for a like walk to keep mobile. That and triple check I’ve got all my gear 😂

I'd say some of these really depend on your race goals. Like if you've there for fun and to enjoy the event, it's not all about times etc. Then taking the day before to wander around, meet the pros, enjoy the experience and the entire event. You never know doing this could even relax you and get you a better time than you might otherwise if you go for the full on pro type preparation where you're basically stressing yourself out and using nervous energy rather than relaxing by enjoying yourself.

practice transitions, so you don't forget something. if you have to run over sand after swimming, maybe prepare a tray with water for your T1 and practice washing sand off and putting bike shoes on wet feet.

Intentional nutrition is super important for me the days leading up and the day before. Nothing high in fiber or high in fat and extra electrolytes drink. I try and sip around 2 liters over the course of the day

I am in the do nothing camp, years taught me I can’t exercise or work hard the day before. I do physical work. If I feel I need to run, it has to be done 24hrs before and like 2 miles only. If I need to make sure my bike is working, I have no problem doing an easy spin to make sure it is. That can be done with a practically zero effort 80 wats though.

Low residue diet the day before helps I think. Don’t eat a big raw veg salad!
