It took me many many hours of operating my full scale backhoe before I stopped thinking about the controls. You’ll get it if you really want to:-). Personally I’d rather fly a little helicopter in my back yard to get my R/C fix. Thanks for showing us the digger.
Hello there, thanks for your nice review. However, 2 main things need to be pointed out. 1st, the model scale. Based on cab and operator seat dimensions, as well as on overall dimensuons compared with the closest real thing (VolvoEC 950), this toy/model turns out to be in a real 1/23 to 1/28 scale. So an average 1/24 scale could be considered, certainly not the declared 1/14, not at all. Then the number of channels. It has 6 on/off operational channels (bucket, lever, boom, turret, left track, right track) and 2 additional channels (sound on/off, cab led n/off) for a total of 8 channels. What the other 14 declared channels should be... nobody knows, lol. Totally worth its price anyway, I got mine for 101 euros at my door. Soon I'll be fixing some loose articulation abd buying 6 cheap ESCs to convert this to real proportional RC.
Actually the clicking means 1 of 2 things. 1. Like you said you hit the hard stop on travel, so the gears slip. 2. You have exceeded the maximum torque of the gears, so they slip. The majority of the clicking in your video is because of reason #2. That being said, it seems to do alright in that peat mix you have there compared with the the cheaper excavator without a metal bucket. I would expect it would be impossible to break packed soil and may even struggle a bit in slightly compacted sand from moisture.
I've ran a few pieces of equipment, once you get it down it becomes second nature. Don't even think about it much as far as the controls. I think a root rake type bucket, and id have a great rc garden weeder. Lol
I've got the 1580 and have had a bit of fun with it, really want to love it but feeling how much 'play' is in everything now after not very much use I feel like it should have cost half the price it did 🙈😄 Nice review though keep it up :)

In case someone is interested in upgrading the stock battery, the safe hole measurements are 88mm (L) x 53mm (W) x 26mm (H). The height is 36mm to the cover, but the exhaust screw protrudes inward 10mm. So, you can get a 36mm high battery and remove the exhaust, or get a 26mm battery and leave it untouched.
thanx for this video ,, i realise now im gonna need to spend more money or look around to see if anyone as added weights to it cos it seems to be unstable

The clicking you hear are the plastic gears that are slipping and if that continues very much it will strip out those plastic gears. The better more expensive ones are all metal with real hydraulics on them, not fake!
Thanks for the video. For the price it is not very proportional in movements compared to some of the (smaller) ones, but hey, it should be good fun with the (kids?)
Proportional? Don't understand what you mean by that. How it moves is all down to how you move the sticks. Takes some sensitivity to operate it smoothly and that comes with practice.
Sorry. Missed so text there. I meant the price was good and the proportional just referred to the jerky movements but as you say that may come with practice. Thanks for replying.
Dom realises he needs a radio controlled dump truck @6:49 🤣 This looks like a (very nice) remodel of the 1550 that I bought several years ago for my nephew. You should ask BG to review a Huina 580 Dom, it's in a class above this one.
Was thinking of getting one of these for my dad, but this thing looks pretty weak as far as it's ability to dig... That soil looked pretty soft and turned up, and the clicking seems to be more from the gears skipping while trying to exceed the digging force...
Get what you pay for I think. The clicking is the mechanism that protects the motors from being overloaded. If you want something that digs dense dirt then it would need to be heavier anyway. It's a toy meant for simulation, not serious excavating. I've been to shows in Germany where there are large excavators operating and they use loose soil.
I have operated 360° tracked excavators as well as 180° backactors, mainly JCB and Caterpillar. The control levers on these are much like a car accelerator, touch them slightly the bucket for example moves slowly, move the lever quickly the bucket will move quickly. I tried a cheap RC excavator with the levers only acting like switches nothing like the real thing and lost interest. I imagine the more costly hydraulic versions will be closer to the real excavators with the hydraulics allowing for detailed work like compacting the sides of trenches to prevent collapse or grading work, or precision soil removal, a proper hobby. 👍

I suppose I was a bit crass in my language, but I meant objectively by comparison this is a far inferior product to Hanui/Amewi's other products, particularly their $500 excavator (which I suppose should be obvious, I suppose). Since I was considering this as an alternative just to harvest its cylinders and track drives, when you hooked it in the dirt and they started popping like crazy it told the whole story to me.
