This is such a fascinating history. The YA book is great. Also, if you are in the Indianapolis area, there is a wonderful Indiana Ave history walk--Through2Eyes-- you can do, that will illuminate this and other amazing stories.

Hello, I'm a child of a teacher that taught at Attucks in the early naughts (00's) to the ends of the 10's. Thank you for the information. My mother is a white woman who taught me the importance of this school and how it is now. It sticks with me and the circle city will rest in my heart till the end of my days, even though I grew up in the opposite environment. So sad how Indianapolis Public Schools is now part of the political machine and how students get left behind because of the standard issues facing inner city students. Much love to my city and the children of it. God bless Indy!!!
