MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, this is a solid introduction to Translating Word Problems in Mathematical Equations. I have had problems with word problems in Mathematics and related courses, however with time my understanding of word problems have drastically improved.
you are actually one of the best maths tutors on RUclips and I’ve learnt a lot from this channel and still learning But I don’t think question 6 is right, why did equate the quadratic equation to “x” and subtract x from both sides it literally changes the equation from -60x to -61x without any prove of why you equated the quadratic equation to ”x“ and not ”0” because a quadratic equation should equal 0 and not x please explain I’d appreciate it thank you
bro I hope now you understand it after 1 year, he subtracted x from RHS to LHS which (-60x)+(-x) = -61x . that's all I know but I'm certain that Question 6 is 100% correct.
@@liamhoward2208 Thanks , If someone would have explained that somewhere at the right time and place it would have had made practical sense . Instead they beat around it and complicated the implication.
You did the problems and we kinda got an overall veiw on how to do it but you were going a little to fast and you didnt go into very many details. Like you didnt explain why we needed to do certain things and I feel that helps a-lot more so then we could have a full understanding.
For problem 3 you can also use substitution, where you can rearrange for x and sub into either equation where now x=3+y and substitute it in .. 3+y+y=33 means 2y = 30 and y=15. sub that into the bottom or top now, x+15=33, x=33-15, x=18! Keep practicing, I used to not even know math at all, what x or a negative value was! just stick at it!
Me too. This link was sent to me by my maths teacher and the literal second question is to do with quadratic equations. I have not at all yet been introduced to this subject. I feel like he just looked it up without proof-watching and said, "Yeah, that looks fine" and told us to follow it.

Love your vids in general but this one is off: example one and two are too drastically different in terms of difficulty level. Start with simpler examples as a foundation then build on that gradually.
The two answers-9 and 6.25- of Question No.6 are both correct. The instructor forgot about the square root of any positive numbers, which could be positive and negative.

in number 6, you said "x-6 or 6-x" but you cant switch the numbers in subtraction. Why did you said that?
maybe a mistake
Where's division?
how to know X comes after a number?
When that no. Isnt writen...its just five time "a number".

Just define the first part as 'x'. So the second part = 2x - 30. Your equation is x + (2x - 30) = 90
